Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
Since Bear’s usual vet on Division has been closed, we’ve been going to the South Loop location—and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Everyone has been incredibly kind and accommodating. Bear loves Dr. Chiu! Dr. Chiu always ensures that Bear’s liver values are within a safe range and keeps me well informed with updates. The entire staff here is truly wonderful—so kind, professional, and caring.
May 01, 2025 · kathy tranDr. Vega was phenomenal! We had such an amazing experience, the staff was wonderful! We had the pleasure of meeting Jackie in the front and Mari walked us through the process of what was going to get done and explaining payment options very clearly and detailed and gave us an idea of what to expect. Dr. Vega was so gentle and compassionate with our fur baby, he was extremely helpful and made us feel comfortable knowing we were in good hands. First time I’ve been to a vet that the experience was honestly 100/10, I’m so glad we finally found the perfect vet and team to care for our fur babies.
Apr 21, 2025 · K CBanfield is not as good as it was around 10 years ago when we started using them and doctors are not the best now there's barely any locations for other options when you don't like the doctors or locations you're at. Luckily this location is pretty good. we started coming here because the location we went to closed down and this is where the one good doctor we met with and the one receptionist who's great at what she does as well went. They're both still fabulous at their job all our fur babes love them and we feel they're safe with them. Banfield has gone downhill so much that if those two leave I'll literally cry from worry. Other staff are kind and seem to do well at their job can't speak for any docs because we only see the one and reception is ok .but out of all locations this is the best and safest service I've had at Banfield in a while . Hopefully they plan on opening more locations and getting better staff like they used to so that more people and fur babies get the service they need and deserve!
Mar 18, 2025 · Tina BI've been to this location a few times now since my regular location recently closed, and thus far, everyone I've met with has been very nice and friendly. My dog seems pretty comfortable each visit, and he hasn't had any issues after any of his visits. I'll definitely be back to this location in the future.Services received for my dog: dental cleaning, annual checkup, body mapping of any bumps/lumps
Mar 03, 2025 · VictoriaPlease keep in mind that I have had a great experience with other Banfields and I am specially talking about the south loop location with the below.I got a new pup and was quoted about $380 for her vaccines. I have a thorough conversation with the tech about pricing, fees and whether or not to go with the wellness plan. The comparison was $380 without the wellness plan or $240 + $70 a month for the wellness plan (why would I ever do that right?? since everything isn’t covered and you have to pay anyway) — I choose to not get the wellness plan and I leave my pup to get her vaccines. By the time I get home, I get a call from the front desk that the price I was quoted was wrong and that it would be over $600 for what I asked for (my dog had been out of my care for about 45 mins at this point). To bring the price down, I get half of the vaccines that I wanted and no heartworm medication because now I can’t afford it all. Already upset, I pick my pup up when she is ready and I’m told that was just her first round of vaccines (this was never discussed before) but now I’m locked in to go to Banfield since other vets have said it would be the best to continue her vaccines at the same place. – I called around. Again, already upset. I called Banfield and asked how much my pups vaccines will be in totality for the next round and I’m told $130 — I put it on my calendar so I know it was correct. I agreed to the $130 and I schedule the next appointment. On the day of the appointment )today) I call just before I leave my house and I’m told it would be $110 to my surprise. When I arrive and I’m talking to the tech, I’m told it would actually be $155 for two vaccines since the office visit itself is $80.Look, I don’t know what’s going on with Banfield but every time I leave, I’m paying more than what I came in there for and I will not be coming back5/30 Update: After Banfield’s initial comment, I followed up via email to share my concerns in more detail. Today, I received a call from Banfield South Loop. The call began with a pitch for their $70/month wellness plan—even though my dog is fully vaccinated for the year, which they know as her vet. I explained I didn’t sign up because the initial quoted costs were actually higher with the plan. As we now know, the original pricing was incorrect due to a tech’s mistake, so I never got to make a fully informed decision. I never got the opportunity to calculate costs or even choose a different vet after getting my estimate because at the time that Banfield called me with the mistake on their part my dog was already out of my care for 45 mins and already administered care.My main concern is the lack of price transparency—unclear communication about vaccine series, inconsistent pricing, and vague explanations. I was told the tech was “new,” but that doesn’t change the fact that I’ve now spent hundreds more because of their error. When I asked why my $80 visit cost more than just the two $45 vaccines, I was told an exam is required before vaccinations. That’s fine—but the vet never touched my dog during our time in the exam room. I did not leave my dog at Banfield this time and was in and out in 20 mins and was only separated from my dog for five minutes while they took her to the back for the vaccines. I was told the exam happened then, without my knowledge or consent. That should have been disclosed upfront. To be clear, I don’t believe the medical care has been poor, —but the administrative confusion, upselling, and lack of transparency have made this a 0-star experience.
