Wellness and Preventive Care: This includes routine annual exams, vaccinations tailored to your pet's needs (including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, etc.), and parasite prevention. They emphasize client education to empower owners in maintaining their pet's health.
Urgent and Emergency Care: While not a 24/7 emergency hospital in the same vein as a large specialty referral center, West Loop Veterinary Care makes pet urgent or emergent medical issues a priority during their operating hours, offering quick appointments and guidance. They are equipped to handle critical situations and can provide initial life-saving procedures before potential transfers if needed.
In-House Diagnostics & Imaging: The clinic utilizes high-end equipment for accurate diagnosis, including digital radiography (X-rays), ultrasounds, and comprehensive in-house laboratory services for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal testing. This allows for rapid assessment and initiation of treatment plans.
Dentistry: They provide thorough oral exams and professional teeth cleanings under anesthesia, including full-mouth radiographs, scaling, and polishing, to prevent dental disease and improve a pet's overall quality of life.
Surgery: The hospital performs a range of routine and specialty surgical procedures. This includes common elective surgeries like spaying and neutering, as well as various soft tissue and potentially some routine orthopedic procedures. They focus on patient safety with pre-surgical evaluations and monitoring.
Allergy Testing & Management: For pets suffering from allergies, the clinic offers testing and comprehensive management plans to alleviate discomfort and improve skin and coat health.
Laparoscopy: The availability of laparoscopic procedures suggests a commitment to minimally invasive surgical techniques, which can lead to faster recovery times and less discomfort for pets.
Laser Therapy: This non-invasive treatment can be used for pain management, inflammation reduction, and to accelerate healing from injuries or post-surgical recovery.
Ophthalmology & Glaucoma Testing: Specific services for eye health, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to specialized care within a general practice setting.
Cardiology: While not a board-certified cardiology specialist, they provide diagnostic capabilities for heart health.
Cryotherapy: A treatment option using extreme cold to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue, often used for small skin lesions.
End-of-Life Care: Providing compassionate support and guidance during difficult times, including discussions about quality of life, palliative care, and humane euthanasia options.
Pet ID & Travel Certificates: Assisting owners with microchipping for identification and providing necessary health certificates for pet travel.
Telemedicine: Offering virtual consultations for certain conditions, providing convenience and accessibility for pet owners.

West Loop Veterinary Care Reviews
We were patients at West Loop Veterinary Care for four wonderful years with our beloved dog, Blue. From the start, the team was always quick to answer the phone and make room for urgent visits when needed. Yes, their services are on the pricier side, but the quality of care, responsiveness, and compassion make it absolutely worth it.Dr. Osborne, in particular, holds a very special place in our hearts. In November, Blue was diagnosed with a severe, treatment-resistant form of idiopathic epilepsy. He was ultimately transferred to a specialist, and after a difficult battle and complications from medications, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to him in late January.Throughout this entire journey, Dr. Osborne was nothing short of extraordinary. She called us multiple times just to check in, even when Blue was no longer under her direct care. Any time West Loop received word of an emergency visit, she would follow up within 48 hours—not just as a vet, but as someone who genuinely cared. She listened, supported, and showed up for us in ways we’ll never forget.Tory in the pharmacy also deserves a shout-out—she always remembered us by name and quickly processed any refill requests, which was a huge help during a stressful time. And during emergencies, any available doctor was willing to jump on the phone and guide us through the steps to get Blue the care he needed. Every member of the staff showed us deep empathy and support.West Loop Vet is more than a clinic—they’re a true partner in your pet’s health and well-being. We’ll forever be grateful for the care they gave Blue and the kindness they showed us during his toughest days.
