This clinic operates primarily as a mobile or pop-up service within the retail environment, specializing in vaccinations and other routine wellness procedures. Understanding that time and affordability are key considerations for many pet parents, Vetco aims to provide a streamlined experience for essential preventative veterinary care.
The core philosophy of Vetco Vaccination Clinic is to make preventative pet healthcare, particularly vaccinations, more accessible and affordable for the general public. They operate on a walk-in or scheduled clinic model within Petco stores, providing a familiar and often convenient setting for pet owners. This service is designed for "quick visits," making it ideal for routine vaccinations, microchipping, and basic deworming. While the clinic focuses on these essential services, the veterinarians are generally noted for being "super friendly and professional," ensuring that pets receive care in a compassionate manner. For Illinois residents, Vetco Vaccination Clinic offers a practical and budget-friendly option to keep their pets up-to-date on necessary immunizations, contributing to the overall health of the local pet population.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic is located at 440 N Orleans St, Chicago, IL 60654, USA. This address places the clinic within a Petco store in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. River North is a bustling and highly accessible area, making this location convenient for pet owners residing in downtown Chicago, Streeterville, West Loop, and other surrounding neighborhoods, as well as those commuting from various parts of Illinois.
Being situated on North Orleans Street, a significant urban artery, provides straightforward access whether you are driving or utilizing Chicago's extensive public transportation system. The area is well-served by multiple CTA 'L' lines and numerous bus routes, making it exceptionally convenient for those without personal vehicles. For those driving, Petco locations often have associated parking, which can be a significant advantage in a dense urban environment like Chicago, though it's always advisable to check specific parking availability for this location. The integration within a Petco store also adds a layer of convenience, allowing pet owners to combine their visit to the vaccination clinic with shopping for pet supplies, food, or other Petco services. This ease of access and combined convenience underscore Vetco Vaccination Clinic's suitability for busy urban pet owners in Illinois seeking efficient preventative care. It's important to note that the clinic operates as a mobile clinic within the store, so specific operating hours for veterinary services should be confirmed, as they may differ from the store's retail hours.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic specializes in providing essential preventative veterinary care, primarily focusing on services that are often part of routine wellness visits. It operates as a mobile clinic within the Petco store, streamlining the process for common needs. The services typically offered include:
Vaccinations: This is the core service offered. Vetco provides a full range of common vaccinations for dogs and cats, including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, leptospirosis, kennel cough (Bordetella) for dogs, and feline distemper (FVRCP), feline leukemia (FeLV) for cats. They offer packages that combine multiple necessary vaccinations for convenience and often at a more affordable rate.
Microchipping: A crucial service for pet identification and recovery. Vetco provides microchipping, which involves implanting a small chip under your pet's skin that can be scanned to retrieve your contact information, significantly increasing the chances of being reunited if your pet ever gets lost.
Deworming: Administration of medication to treat and prevent common intestinal parasites in puppies, kittens, and adult pets.
Flea & Tick Prevention: Offering various topical or oral medications to protect pets from fleas and ticks, crucial for preventing discomfort and vector-borne diseases.
Heartworm Testing & Prevention: Providing blood tests to screen for heartworm disease and offering preventative medications. Heartworm is a serious and prevalent condition that requires diligent prevention.
FIV/FeLV Testing (for cats): Screening tests for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukemia Virus, which are important for feline health management, especially for new kittens or cats with unknown histories.
Basic Wellness Checks (limited): While not a full physical exam by a primary care veterinarian, the vets at Vetco typically perform a quick assessment to ensure the pet is healthy enough for vaccinations and to identify any immediate, obvious concerns.
It's important to note that Vetco Vaccination Clinic focuses on preventative and immediate basic care. For more complex medical conditions, emergencies, surgery, dental procedures, or ongoing chronic disease management, pet owners would typically be referred to a full-service veterinary hospital.
Convenient Mobile Clinic Model: A primary highlight of Vetco Vaccination Clinic is its operation as a mobile or pop-up clinic within the Petco store. This model is designed for convenience, offering "quick visits" for essential services. Its location within a retail environment allows pet owners to combine veterinary care with other errands, streamlining their schedule.
Affordable and Transparent Pricing: Vetco is known for offering essential preventative services like vaccinations and microchipping at competitive and often more affordable prices compared to traditional full-service veterinary clinics. Their packages often make it easy to understand and budget for routine care, which is a significant benefit for many Illinois pet owners.
Focus on Preventative Care: The clinic's specialization in vaccinations, deworming, heartworm testing, and microchipping ensures that pets receive crucial preventative measures to maintain their health and prevent serious diseases. This focus helps pet owners stay up-to-date on essential wellness needs, contributing to longer, healthier lives for their companions.
Friendly and Professional Staff: Despite the mobile clinic setting, customer reviews consistently highlight that the veterinarians are "super friendly and professional." This positive interaction contributes to a more pleasant experience for both pets and their owners, especially during procedures like injections.
Accessibility for Basic Needs: For pet owners who primarily need vaccinations, microchipping, or basic parasite prevention, Vetco offers a highly accessible option without the need for a traditional, lengthy veterinary appointment. This walk-in or easy-scheduling approach fits well with busy urban lifestyles.
It is worth noting the feedback regarding the clinic's environment not being "cat-friendly" due to open space and dog presence, and the lack of handwashing between pets which could transfer dog smells and stress cats. Pet owners with particularly anxious cats should consider this aspect.

Vetco Vaccination Clinic Reviews
Avery the manager is awesome. He showed me the hamster and ginuea pig that I was interested in. He was very patient and let me know that I have to cut their nails, dietary restrictions and needs, and was very knowledgeable on the pet buying process. I was also concerned about the source that the pet came from and he was very reassuring that the pet came from a reputable breeder, and was checked by a vet before arriving to the pet store. 10/10 recommend speaking to him!
May 20, 2024 · Christina LuI visited this location for the mobile clinic, which is a good service at a fair price. I would recommend the mobile clinic for quick visits, like a vaccination. I would say the clinic is not cat-friendly, because the space is open and there are a lot of dogs, many of them are big, and the vets do not wash their hands between pets to remove the smell of dogs, which can cause additional stress to cats. Other than that, the vets are super friendly and professional.
