For Nebraska residents in the David City area, choosing Bar S Veterinary Clinic is selecting a clinic that understands and serves the entire local animal community. The clinic's unique ability to handle the specialized needs of Large Animals via Farm Calls and reproductive services like Artificial Insemination, while simultaneously offering advanced Small Animal Services for companion pets, makes it an invaluable resource. The availability of Emergency & Urgent Care seven days a week, supported by their In-House Pharmacy and Intensive Care Unit, provides a critical safety net that is often rare in smaller communities. While clients should always discuss and confirm pricing for specific routine services—as one review noted a high cost for microchipping—other long-time clients view their charges as "competitive charges that are far better than the surrounding towns," suggesting overall good value for complex Veterinary Services. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Let me just say, $90 just to chip an animal is bonkers. I went elsewhere and was charged $32 for a chip and they registered it for free. Where they're getting $90 just to chip an animal is beyond me.. They have been the single most expensive place I have actually called about such a thing by a mile.. $90?! Holy moly I about got knocked out of my socks when they quoted me that. I want to know what they do so differently from other vet clinics that even makes that price seem reasonable?! I think I was quoted $110 in total for just the chip visit. That price wasn't even including the shots I also needed.. That price was JUST the chip visit. That's such an astounding number to me just to get an animal chipped.. I paid a new patient vet visit, a chip and a round of shots elsewhere and I still came out WAY cheaper than being an established patient here. I've never in my life paid more than $40 to chip an animal! I sadly won't be back here which sucks because I actually like the staff here. It's just mind-blowing how expensive they are for being a small town vet clinic. I appreciate what they do for lost/wandering/surrendered animals, though. I was just sadly priced out of this clinic. Very nice people as long as you close your eyes and don't pay attention to what you're being charged. July 01 · Sumera Gilbert

- This is my girl Oaklee. The wonderful and caring people at this clinic literally saved my pups life. Without them she would not be with me today. I can’t thank them enough for the compassion and care they showed her for the week she was there. October 09 · cheri truax
- I recently took my two cats to Bar S, along with the Ace Hardware Cats. I must say that the staff at Bar S went above and beyond. Unfortunately, I had to have two of my cats cremated six months apart - one of them we had for 9 years, and the other we had for a month before she passed away from FIP. Bar S returned their ashes to us in a little wooden box, which was a thoughtful and appreciated touch during such a difficult time. However, I also had another cat cremated in Columbus, thinking that the vet there could provide better care for him. Sadly, they returned his ashes to me in a Ziploc bag, which made me feel like they did not care about my loss.On a brighter note, I want to mention the Ace cats, who are a part of Ace Hardware. We wanted to take care of them, particularly Tilly, the black and white cat who was recently adopted and was not gaining weight. For about two months, the Vet techs and Vets at Bar S put up with me bringing stool samples and Tilly up to their clinic, trying to figure out what was wrong with her. Their dedication and persistence in finding a solution for Tilly was truly remarkable, and we are grateful for their help. October 08 · Melissa Hotovy
- Great affordable vet! Spaying/neutering is half the price of surroundings practices. Very friendly office! July 02 · ChristinaStH
