Since 2022, BluePearl Charlestown has gotten my two young cats through a hip dislocation, pancreatitis and unexplained chronic severe diarrhea and vomiting. I’ve been to over 5 different vet ERs and unfortunately I have lost trust with some veterinarians, vet techs, and vet “philosophies” across chains. BluePearl Charlestown has regained my trust and confidence in veterinary care in the greater Boston area. They are organized, clean and it is clear there is great communication among staff. Whether I am high priority or low priority in their triage system, the staff is transparent and offer constant updates so I know my pet and other pets there are getting the best care. In May 2025, Dr. Lexi Souther and other vets worked hard to save my boy Moncho from a surgery after displacing his hip while on a walk; he’s recovered well, 1 week to go in the crate! In January 2023, my other boy Ollie had chronic vomiting and diarrhea after a two week stay at a cattery. After a long set of testing and other treatments by other vets pursuing other diagnoses despite my concerns of him picking up something at the cattery, my second cat also got sick and developed pancreatitis. Dr. Carrie Cavett listened to all my concerns and suspected both had an infection, which she treated and they recovered so quickly. The vets have always followed up on my cats, even after care transfer through shift changes. BluePearl staff care about their patients and their families.

However, we were troubled by the way recommendations for additional diagnostic procedures were presented — including tests that, upon review, appeared excessive or not immediately clinically justified. My wife holds a degree in healthcare and has a strong academic foundation in medical sciences, which helped us critically evaluate the necessity of the proposed tests. From our perspective, the approach seemed overly aggressive without sufficient explanation or evidence to support the expanded list of diagnostics.Additionally, I must express how frustrating and upsetting it was to be restricted to email communication during such a critical time in Brady’s care. I had hoped to speak directly by phone to better understand the situation and discuss concerns in real time. Instead, we were limited to written responses, which felt impersonal and insufficient, given the urgency and emotional weight of the situation.I fully respect the clinic’s policies and the challenges of a busy practice, but I also believe that pet parents should feel supported, heard, and included in their animal’s care. In this case, we did not feel that level of trust or collaboration was present.We hope this feedback will be taken seriously and used to improve the way complex or urgent cases are handled, both in communication and medical decision-making. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and professional.
