This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of CARE, highlighting why it has become a trusted and essential resource for countless local pet families.
CARE is a state-of-the-art veterinary facility founded in 2015 by three local veterinarians with a shared dream: to establish a clinic where patient care is always the first priority. Their mission is to set the standard for veterinary care and service by delivering outstanding specialty and emergency medicine around the clock. This commitment is evident in every aspect of their operation, from the intentional, living-room-like design of their facility, which helps calm anxious pets, to the highly skilled and empathetic team of board-certified specialists and emergency veterinarians. They understand that when your pet is ill or injured, the experience can be incredibly stressful for both the animal and the owner. Therefore, they strive to create a comforting environment and provide clear, understandable communication about treatment plans and prognoses.
Unlike typical general veterinary practices, CARE focuses on complex cases and emergencies, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This continuous availability ensures that critical care is always accessible, providing peace of mind for pet owners throughout North Carolina. Their ability to quickly triage, diagnose, and treat even the most serious conditions makes them an invaluable partner to primary veterinarians in the region, often receiving referrals for advanced diagnostics and specialized treatments that require a higher level of care.

CARE | Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency Reviews
I had an appointment but it was a calm environment while I was there. Knowing I had a cat which may be sensitive to barking and commotion (heart issues), the front desk folks made sure to give my pet and me a private room for our appointment, quickly, without me having to ask.It is really nice they allow people to be inside with their animals and not have to wait outside and it was comforting to have snacks available with teas. Finally, of course, the neurology vetinarians that saw my pet were very kind , and communicated treatment plans and described things very clearly where I could understand what to do. They also listened closely to what I told them about my pet's history, which I was appreciative of because my cat has a detailed list of conditions and issues he has been dealing with, and that I track. The teams patience made me feel much more at ease about that we were doing the right steps for him.
Jun 26, 2025 · MJ ESThe care we received yesterday at CARE was phenomenal. Our dog, Adelaide, went in with significant vomiting and bloody stool. Even in a stressful time (and potentially stressful environment) Adelaide and was extremely calm due to the intentional living-room-like design of the facility.Thankfully, Adelaide was seen very quickly and it was nothing too serious. After some labs, medication, subcutaneous liquids, and take home medications, we were out of there in less than 2 hours. Prices were, of course, a little higher than the regular vet, but much more reasonable than other emergency chains I’ve been to.Thank you, CARE team!
Apr 25, 2025 · Robert PinkaMy dog Diggorry had a surgery with our regular vets office and it went very wrong. He started to bleed uncontrollably and we rushed him to CARE. We had several visits and 2 additional surgeries to repair the damage. Between the procedures and shared knowledge and experience of caring for him at home. The staff at CARE really saved my boys life. I am so grateful. To the people who helped my sweet boy I can not thank you enough.
Jun 22, 2025 · Jessica MusheDr. Margarucci & team were so wonderful with my Lolly girl throughout her cancer diagnosis. I am so grateful for them giving her the best care and making sure she was comfortable for as long as she could be! Even when we were first referred and didn’t know what was wrong, they were very thorough to ensure the right diagnosis so she could be treated accordingly. Forever grateful for the work they did and helping her for as long as possible - thank you so much!! And I know Lolly would thank you too from over the rainbow bridge!
Apr 09, 2025 · Meg SWFriday the 13th, I lost my 12 year old companion, Harvey Girl. Calico kitty. I came home from work, she couldn’t move, trouble breathing, bleeding from the mouth and sadly died in my arms on the way to the hospital. When I arrived, I could barely put logic and words together, filled with tears and covered in Harvey’s blood and urine. Immediately they ran to the front door, looked at her face, scooped her up and rushed her to critical. It was like a ER episode. I’ve never even seen a human hospital with such fire and urgency to help. Time passed as I waited, not long, and the vet (pretty blonde with a soft voice-I can’t remember her name. So sorry) came in to confirm Harvey had passed away. She discussed optioned with me and my husband. They had kindly cleaned her up, placed her on a comfy bed, and let me say goodbye in a quiet room. I was in there for a while. Becky, wonderful nurse, I have to thank her for helping me through this. She showed Harvey and me such compassion, talked me through this trauma, guilt, loss, and goodbye process, and I don’t think I could have gotten through it without her. I asked her “how do you do this job?” And she replied “it may sound crazy, but I enjoy helping people in this difficult process. I know first hand how hard it is. But I want to help.” That is what I call Angels! People who want to be there for the most difficult experience like losing a child, your animal companion, honor them and help you be able to say goodbye without crashing your car from shock after the experience. I am so soooo grateful to Becky for the comfort, the hug she gave me, the tears and time she let me have to say goodbye to my beautiful Harvey Girl on Friday. We choose not to do a necropsy. To let Harvey pass with some dignity, even though her death was very painful. Likely by a stroke, heart attack or clot of some kind. I see the value now in putting companions to sleep. It’s very compassionate to not let them brutally suffer in passing simply bc you want another hour or day. I had to do it with Harvey’s sister and the guilt destroyed me. Then this happened, and I felt guilt I couldn’t get help in time to save her. But it’s likely, she would have passed regardless. The hospital kept Harvey overnight and Faithful Companions picked her up. Faithful Companions did not call as promised. I had to call them the next day to find out when she’d come home, but that’s not the hospitals fault.Harvey was brought home Sunday, her remains at least, and laid to rest beside her sister Bebe.I just wanted to say thank you to the hospital, Becky, the intake nurse, the critical nurse, and the vet for acting so fast even though she’d already passed away by then. They even offered to resuscitate but Harvey had already been gone over 10 mins by then. I’m just very grateful for your compassion. I saw another nurse hugging another patient who was hysterical when she arrived with her dog that had passed away. This is a place where they really care and these people were born to help animals and be there for the parents after such a horrible loss. I’ll always be grateful.Harvey Girl, You Are My World. You will always be my sweet, special treat, Harvey Girl, pretty meow!, bitty kitkit, Pretty Kitty, Pretty Harveeeeey! Thank you for giving me 12 years of perfect love, and loving our family so perfectly. You will always be my baby.
