Carolina Veterinary Hospital of Sanford, PC, offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services designed to ensure the health and well-being of dogs and cats. Their commitment to personalized care means they tailor their approach to each pet's unique needs.
- Preventative Care: This is a cornerstone of their practice, including routine head-to-tail examinations (checking temperature, weight, sensory abilities, heart/lung auscultation, abdominal palpation, orthopedic mobility), annual vaccinations (Canine: DHPP, Leptospirosis, Lyme, Bordetella, Rabies, Canine Influenza; Feline: FVRCP, Feline Leukemia, Rabies), and comprehensive parasite control.
- Diagnostic Services: They have the ability to perform in-house laboratory services, including fecal exams, Canine 4dx Heartworm Tests, Feline Triple Snap Tests, Urinalysis, and Routine Chemistry Panels. They also collaborate with Idexx Laboratories for routine and specialized diagnostics. On-site digital radiology (X-rays) and ultrasound imaging are available for evaluating conditions and confirming diagnoses. They can also submit radiographs to a board-certified veterinary radiologist for consultation and refer complex ultrasound cases to specialists.
- Veterinary Surgery: The hospital performs a wide range of surgeries, including spaying and neutering (recommended at 5-6 months of age to prevent life-threatening conditions). Other common surgical procedures include mass removals, cystotomy (for bladder stones, as mentioned in a review), abdominal exploratory, and amputations. Exams are required to evaluate the appropriate procedure and determine if in-house care or referral is best. Core vaccines must be up to date prior to elective surgery.
- Pet Dental Cleanings: Routine dental cleanings are emphasized to prevent periodontal disease, tooth decay, and bad breath. They recommend cleanings when tartar is present, before calculus and gingivitis develop.
- Sick Pet Evaluations: They provide care for sick pets, addressing issues like skin conditions, itchiness, ear infections, allergies, behavioral issues, and pain management. The positive experience with the cat dealing with bladder stones exemplifies their expertise in handling complex medical conditions.
- Emergency Care (During Business Hours): While not a 24/7 emergency hospital, they are a go-to for emergency care for stray animals brought in by local animal control and shelter, and they open slots to see urgent cases like the kitten that wasn't keeping anything down. For after-hours emergencies, they provide referrals to Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital.
- Telemedicine Support: They maintain close ties to emergency facilities and offer referrals to various specialty hospitals and the NCSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh. They also utilize telemedicine support for cardiology, ultrasound, and endoscopic procedures.

Carolina Veterinary Hospital of Sanford, PC Reviews
I brought my sweet boy here on the recommendation of a friend because he is dealing with bladder stones. From the moment I walked in the calm energy and welcoming faces were a relief. I am incredibly anxious about my cats care and options available. Dr. Davis spent almost an hour with me answering every question I had and loving on my boy the whole time without making me feel rushed or dismissing my concerns the way my previous vet has. She even recommended other resources that may be more practical for my anxiety ridden cat. Both Dr. Davis and her staff made me feel welcome and comforted in courses of action for my baby. Within minutes of being in the clinic I decided that though I lived 45 minutes away, she was the only vet that I wanted treating my baby and decided to switch to her being my primary vet. Such a kind team who truly care about caring for your furry babies.
Mar 24, 2025 · Emily MayI was greeted by a nice receptionist upon arriving. My large dog was put in a room with me. Diane, an assistant, was very friendly as she discussed Zeuses care and prior records.Dr Davis is kind, compassionate, and down to earth. She took time to listen and suggest vaccines, etc. We are pleased with our first visit and will be back next week with Tinkerbell.Thank you, Dr. Davis and staff. 💕
Oct 06, 2023 · Kim BristolDr Julie Davis is amazing with great compassion for all animals and their parents. After a very rough week at another vet, Dr Davis took such special care of our Triplets. She literally got down on the floor with our children and kept them together for their entire visit and examination to give them comfort. She truly listened to me, my concerns and thought through what could cause 3 brothers to become sick one after another after a routine checkup at another clinic. Her intuition and medical knowledge has saved our 3 cats.
Mar 06, 2021 · Daniel ArnoldBeyond amazing care for your pets! All of the staff are incredible!!! Dr. Julie's love and compassion goes to infinity and beyond yall! ❤️
Mar 08, 2025 · Lindsay Flynn-WomackWe have been using Dr.Davis for years. We recently had to help our fur baby over the rainbow bridge and Dr. Davis and her staff were not just professional but they kind and gentle and very empathetic. As we cried as he made his crossing so did Dr. Davis. We will never look for another vet. Dr. Davis helps her community and never turns away a wounded animal not even when the owner is unknown and will try to find a foster before having to send them to the LCAS.
