Tidewater Veterinary Hospital Reviews
Absolutely phenomenal experience! This was my first visit to Tidewater and I was completely blown away by the level of compassion, care, and personal attention we received. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. The Dr. Runde was amazing. He took the time to review Zena’s file and noted before coming into the exam room and greeted me by name. (While that might seem small, our last vet never remembered our names, or our dogs name, and we had seen her several times over 2 years.) Dr. Runde took the time to listen carefully to my concerns, explained everything in clear detail, and treated my sweet bulldog with such tenderness and respect—it truly felt like he was caring for his own animal. It’s rare to find a place where genuine kindness and top-notch professionalism come together so seamlessly. I left feeling confident, supported, and incredibly grateful.

Jun 15, 2025 · A. S.If I could rate one star I most definitely would. As soon as I walked into the establishment, I could already tell there was going to be an issue. I greeted the person at the front desk her name tag said Cathy And I said hello, how are you? She looked at me up and down and discuss and said, “ok, what do you need?” Just very unfriendly and dismissive in my opinion. I tried to brush it off because I knew it was already a Monday and the weather wasn’t the greatest so I was trying to cut her some slack. I then proceeded to hand her my dog’s paperwork. She looked like she barely wanted to touch it as if I had something that she could catch.During this transaction she’s being very kind to everyone else in the establishment and even other coworkers would look at me in disgust as if I shouldn’t have been there. I tried smiling to show kindness but no one wanted to show me any respect at that. Everyone in this establishment is white, except for me. I try not to look at things based off a race, but it’s really hard when you’re clearly being treated differently than the people around you just based off of your skin color. After moments of her messing with stuff not speaking to me and me just standing there she said you can go sit down for a few minutes. As I sat down, I felt even more uncomfortable when more people continued to come in and her attitude changed. I decided this isn’t the place I would like for my money to be spent or my dog to be cared for at so I took my dog left. I’m not gonna say don’t come to this establishment because they could be very well trained great veterinarians here but if you are black or a person of color, I would steer clear from this area if you don’t want to feel uncomfortable. To Cathy and the rest of the Tidewater Veterinary Hospital staff do better.
Apr 15, 2025 · Alicia WGreat experience bringing my rabbits here for care. Dr.Dorsch is so knowledgeable with my rabbits and takes time to explain everything to me. Dr. Cherukuri has been so great in the care of my rabbits and always makes time to make sure the best care is given.
Jun 15, 2025 · Mailly KleinThe Tidewater staff need to REALLY do better. I dropped my cat off today for surgery to remove the tiniest bump on his shoulder. This was at 8am. I didn’t hear anything back about my cat or a call like they said I would receive. I finally called and found out my cat has been ready for pick up and they “must’ve called the wrong number.” It has been almost 10 HOURS since I dropped my cat off… I don’t even WANT to know how many of those hours were unnecessary and my cat was caged up when he could’ve been picked up. I have a lot of questions. If they actually called the wrong number then why didn’t they keep trying to find the right one instead… which is very confusing to me knowing that I gave them 2 numbers to call right when I dropped him off. It’s even worse that my cat was starving and thirsty as soon as he got home. If you’re going to hold my cat for unnecessary hours you could at least feed him. I was ready to go in and talk about this issue but the receptionist looked unbearably unapproachable. If it wasn’t for the great vets my family would NOT be going to Tidewater because of the bad service of their staff.
