I rescued a cat from the streets. Took my fur baby here to get neutered and for his first visit she never mentioned about FLV Vacs and for first time cat owner I didn't know about it. Then about 5 yrs later he got real sick with Luekimia. A month later I took him in to get put to sleep because he hadn't ate for a wk. Then she informed me about the vaccine this all could of been avoided. And to top it all off She rips me off for $40 just losing my furbaby. She asked me if i wanted to bring my cat home or taken to crematory. I decided crematory. But Changed my mind and she said she will not refund me. There was a difference in price of $40 that she kept. This was my experience and a bad one!! - Nick W

Carr Randolyn J DVM is conveniently located at 1902 W State St, New Castle, PA 16101, USA. This address places the clinic on West State Street, a well-known artery in New Castle, making it accessible for pet owners throughout the city and surrounding areas in Pennsylvania. The location is generally easy to find, which can be beneficial for scheduling routine visits and is particularly important in urgent situations where prompt access to care is critical.

For Pennsylvania pet parents, the ease of reaching their veterinarian's office contributes to consistent pet health management. A local clinic helps minimize travel time and potential stress for pets, making regular check-ups and follow-up appointments less burdensome. While navigation to 1902 W State St should be straightforward, it is always advisable to confirm directions and parking availability before your visit. The convenience of a local veterinary service can be a significant factor in maintaining your pet's health schedule.

While a comprehensive list of all specific services provided by Carr Randolyn J DVM is best confirmed directly with the clinic, based on typical veterinary practice offerings and customer feedback, the clinic likely provides core veterinary services. These commonly include:

  • Routine Wellness Examinations: Fundamental check-ups to assess overall health, monitor growth, and identify potential issues early.
  • Vaccinations: Administration of essential vaccines to protect pets from various infectious diseases.
  • Spaying and Neutering: Common surgical procedures for population control and numerous health benefits for pets. One customer noted having their cat neutered here.
  • Parasite Control: Prevention and treatment options for common internal and external parasites, such as fleas, ticks, and heartworm. (Note: One customer mentioned that FLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) vaccines were not discussed for their cat, and heartworm/Lyme tests were not performed on their dogs. It is important for pet owners to discuss their specific concerns and necessary preventive care with the veterinarian during consultations.)
  • General Medical Care: Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and minor injuries.
  • End-of-Life Services: While one customer had a very negative experience regarding the cost and communication during this sensitive time, veterinary clinics generally offer euthanasia services and options for aftercare. It is crucial for pet owners to discuss all aspects of end-of-life care, including costs and procedures, in detail beforehand.

It is always recommended to have a clear discussion with the clinic regarding their standard protocols and recommendations for your pet's specific needs, including preventive care.

Based on the provided customer reviews, here are some features and aspects to consider when evaluating Carr Randolyn J DVM:

  • Capacity for Urgent Appointments: One customer noted that they were able to get their second kitten in relatively quickly for a neuter, which can be a significant advantage when other clinics have long wait times. This suggests the clinic may have more immediate availability.
  • Neutering Services: The clinic performs neutering procedures for cats, as indicated by multiple customer experiences.
  • Importance of Proactive Inquiry: Given the feedback regarding missed vaccination discussions and certain tests, it highlights the importance for pet owners, especially first-timers, to proactively ask questions about all recommended preventative care, including specific vaccines (like FLV) and tests (like Lyme and heartworm), to ensure their pet receives comprehensive care based on their lifestyle and risk factors.
  • Pricing Considerations: Several customers expressed concerns about pricing, specifically mentioning unexpected or higher-than-anticipated costs for services like neutering, vaccinations, and "exam fees" for seemingly healthy pets. It is advisable for pet owners to request a detailed estimate for all services beforehand and clarify any charges.
  • Communication and Transparency: Feedback suggests that there might be areas where communication about services, costs, and options (especially concerning aftercare services like cremation refunds) could be clearer. Pet owners should feel empowered to ask for breakdowns of costs and express their preferences clearly.
  • Post-Service Refund Policy Concerns: One review detailed a significant issue with a non-refundable $40 charge for a service (cremation) that was later decided against, indicating a strict or potentially inflexible refund policy that should be clarified upfront for sensitive situations.

These points underscore the importance of clear communication and obtaining detailed information about services and fees from the clinic.
