Preventative Wellness Plans & Exams:

These include customized vaccination protocols (using non-adjuvanted PureVax vaccines when appropriate, which can be beneficial for cats), parasite prevention, and nutritional counseling for optimal health.
Advanced Diagnostics:
The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including in-house lab testing (with results often available within an hour), digital X-rays, and even cardiac ultrasounds. Dr. Lann is certified to perform cardiac ultrasounds, a specialized service often found only at referral centers. This allows for rapid and accurate diagnosis of feline-specific conditions.
Feline-Specific Surgical Procedures:
They perform a range of routine and advanced surgeries, from spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries. Monitoring cats carefully during anesthesia and providing comprehensive pain management are key aspects of their surgical care.

Features / Highlights
Cats Exclusively Veterinary Hospital prides itself on its unique cat-centric approach and the dedicated nature of its team. While one provided review reflects a deeply negative experience, other public information and a specific mention of "Dr. Fleming" indicate a broader operational context and reputation. Here are key highlights:
Exclusively Feline Focus:
This is arguably their most significant distinguishing feature. By focusing solely on cats, the hospital eliminates the presence of dogs, creating a calmer, less stressful environment specifically designed for feline comfort. This specialization allows their veterinarians and staff to develop a deeper knowledge and expertise in feline medicine, behavior, and unique health challenges.
Certified Cat Friendly Practice:
Cats Exclusively Veterinary Hospital is a Certified Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). This certification means they adhere to specific standards that reduce stress for cats during vet visits, including quiet waiting areas, gentle handling techniques, and feline-specific examination rooms.
Experienced Feline Experts:
The team comprises veterinarians and support staff who are passionate about cats and have extensive experience in feline health. This deep expertise ensures that care is tailored to the specific physiological and psychological needs of cats.

Independently Owned and Operated:
Unlike some veterinary practices that are part of larger corporate conglomerates, Cats Exclusively Veterinary Hospital proudly states it is independently owned. This often translates to a more personalized approach to care and decision-making.
Attention to Client Education:
They emphasize a "BETTER WAY" approach that includes taking the time to listen and educate clients on all aspects of animal care and ownership, with appointments often lasting 40 minutes or longer to ensure thorough discussions.

For cat owners in the New York region, particularly those in Rochester and Pittsford, Cats Exclusively Veterinary Hospital presents a uniquely suitable option for their feline companions' healthcare needs. Its fundamental strength lies in its singular focus: cats. This specialization means everything about the hospital, from its tranquil, dog-free environment to its equipment and the deep expertise of its staff, is tailored to the specific physiological and psychological nuances of felines. This creates a far less stressful and more effective veterinary experience for even the most anxious cats.
The hospital's status as a Certified Cat Friendly Practice further validates its commitment to creating a low-stress environment. The emphasis on prolonged appointment times allows for thorough examinations, detailed discussions, and comprehensive client education, empowering pet owners to make informed decisions for their cat's health. While the provided review about a specific unfortunate incident highlights the inherent risks in complex medical procedures, it's important to consider that veterinary medicine, like human medicine, can have unpredictable outcomes. The mention of Dr. Fleming in a positive light in another context (though not specifically a review for this hospital directly) suggests that the hospital has had and continues to have a team of dedicated professionals. The critical aspect for local cat owners is the availability of a facility where the entire infrastructure and ethos are devoted to feline well-being.
For those who recognize that cats are not just small dogs and require a specialized approach to care, Cats Exclusively Veterinary Hospital offers that dedicated expertise. It's a place where veterinarians and staff are not just good with animals, but specifically excellent with cats, providing the nuanced care and understanding that feline patients truly thrive under. This makes it an ideal and highly recommended choice for local New York cat owners seeking the very best for their cherished companions.

Cats Exclusively Veterinary Hospital Reviews
Following an ultra sound finding, which had to be performed at an outside facility, and at Dr. Lann's recommendation, Gucci was taken in for an eighteen hundred dollar operation to remove a large s̶e̶b̶a̶c̶e̶o̶u̶s̶ cyst [Perinephric pseudocyst] that was found. Gucci died during the night after returning home only hours following the operation. Gucci clearly suffered terribly in his last hours of life. It was a terrible mistake to trust that this Cats Exclusively Dr. Lann that operated on Gucci held Gucci's best interest in the forefront. I thought that the first rule of medicine was supposed to be to do no harm!!!Upon arriving home ~ 5 PM, Gucci was dripping puddles of bloody fluid all over the floor from his stitched up incision! Gucci then died during the night before the next morning. It was clearly evident that he was suffering from the effects of the operation. In his last effort before lying down where he died at the base of my wheelchair, Gucci dragged himself using his front legs and paws across the family room floor while falling over and crying out each time, time and time again, as his hind legs failed and no longer supported him and functioned normally as they did only hours before. That is the heartbreaking image I'll carry with me for the rest of my life!Yes, Gucci suffered from the effects and discomfort of the cyst (lost weight, frequent thirst) , but it wasn't the cyst that he abruptly died from frightened and traumatized. I am 100% certain that had Dr. Lann not operated, Gucci would not have died as he did!I strongly do not recommend! You're damn right I'm furious! If it we're up to me I would yank this doctors license immediately. This is now a mistake that we have to live with for the rest of our lives. Being sorry will never make up for ending this life. We've had many cats throughout our lives. Wonderful marvelous cats of all kinds, but never a cat like Gucci. Virtually every morning we would awaken to find a different assortment of cat toys placed carefully at the foot of the bed that Gucci collected from around the house overnight. Sometimes as many as five or six.p.s.In response to Cats Exclusively's response:We understood and recognize that Gucci would eventually die and was dying from his health problems. However, and again, it wasn't the "perinephric cyst", nor the large tumor found on his liver (which did not show up in the ultrasound report), that ended Gucci's life abruptly and traumatically only hours following the operation that Dr. Lann performed. That's the point here! It's also very much the point that this ending was unnecessary and could have and should have been avoided!Keep your false caring and sympathy to yourself, Dr. Lann.If people could only have witnessed what your important concern for every patient really looked like for this unfortunate cat that died a miserable death following the operation you performed!Perhaps the most telling of all is the fact that when my wife picked up Gucci to bring him home no one said a word or mentioned anything about death or dying. No, Dr. Lann, clearly you don't understand! Saying that you understand how we feel is in and of itself a sign of callous indifference.Shame on you!p.s. After reading through 5 separate studies surrounding this illness where there were also additional complications, it seems clear that a much better and wiser path than the one taken for Gucci should have been followed. At the very least, and at a minimum, further evaluation was advisable and should have been performed. Where was the real concern for this life!"Cats survived a median of 9 months after surgery and survival was correlated statistically to degree of azotaemia at presentation."https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10860154Do No Harm!https://www.yelp.com/biz/cats-exclusively-veterinary-hospital-pittsford-2?rr=1It should be noted that we never, not once, ever had any issues with Dr. Fleming, who was a wonderful DVM that I would highly recommend.Gucci's traumatic death has been nothing short of traumatic for me, too.
