Based on the provided customer reviews, Central Avenue Veterinary Clinic, featuring Dr. Truesdale, offers specific veterinary services, particularly highlighting their expertise in certain areas. While a comprehensive list of all services is not provided, the reviews indicate the following:
Meet and Greet Appointments: The clinic offers initial "meet and greet" appointments, allowing potential clients to visit the practice, meet the staff, and discuss their pet's needs before committing to full services. This suggests an opportunity for owners to assess if the clinic is a good fit.
Specialized Bulldog Care: Dr. Truesdale has been recommended as a "bulldog savvy Veterinarian/technician." This indicates specialized knowledge and experience in treating bulldogs, including breed-specific procedures such as soft palate surgery (palette) and nare (nostril) enlargement, which are common for this breed.
Spay Procedures: The clinic performs spay surgeries for female dogs. One review mentions a pet owner seeking a trustworthy doctor for their bulldog's spay procedure.
Urgent Care Appointments: The clinic accommodates "urgent care" appointments, suggesting they can address acute or sudden health concerns that require prompt attention outside of routine scheduled visits.
Ear Cropping: Dr. Truesdale is specifically praised for "an amazing job on my cane corso's ears being cropped." This indicates the clinic offers elective cosmetic surgical procedures, a service that requires specialized skill and is often sought by owners of certain breeds.
Hormone Blockers (as discussed in a review): One review mentions a prescription for "hormone blockers" to "stop" a dog from entering heat, as a step related to a spay procedure. This suggests the clinic offers hormonal interventions as part of their veterinary care options, although the specific context of this treatment led to concerns from the client.
It is important for prospective clients to inquire directly with the clinic for a full list of available services and to discuss their specific pet's needs.
Central Avenue Veterinary Clinic presents a mixed but distinct set of features and highlights, as drawn from the provided customer reviews. These aspects contribute to their overall profile as a veterinary service in Massachusetts:
Specialized Expertise (e.g., Bulldogs, Ear Cropping): A significant highlight is Dr. Truesdale's acknowledged expertise with specific breeds, notably bulldogs, and specialized cosmetic procedures like ear cropping for breeds such as Cane Corsos. This niche skill set can be highly attractive to owners seeking very specific medical or aesthetic services for their pets.
Positive Surgical Outcomes: At least one review highly commends Dr. Truesdale for "an amazing job" on a specific surgical procedure (ear cropping), indicating successful medical results in certain areas of their practice. The accompanying photo of the 10-month-old Cane Corso suggests client satisfaction with the long-term outcome of the procedure.
Initial Impression and Salesmanship (Mixed Perception): One client described Dr. Truesdale as having "sold us" during an initial "meet and greet," leading them to return for further appointments. This suggests a compelling initial presentation of services and expertise. However, another review later critically describes him as a "salesman," indicating differing interpretations of this persuasive approach.
Staff Kindness and Patience (Mixed Perception): One positive review mentions the staff being "amazing, patient with my million questions and kind" regarding the ear cropping procedure. This highlights positive interactions with some staff members, particularly when clients are actively engaged and asking questions about a procedure they are pursuing.
Concerns with Waiting Room Environment: A significant highlight, though negative, is the description of the waiting room as "obnoxious" with "dogs yelling at each other" and owners struggling. This points to potential challenges in managing the clinic environment, which can contribute to stress and anxiety for pets and their owners.
Customer Service and Communication Concerns: Critical feedback points to issues with front desk staff exhibiting "attitude" and not being helpful with check-in procedures during chaotic moments. Concerns were also raised about the doctor not listening to all concerns during an appointment and focusing primarily on lucrative procedures ("$$$").
Differing Medical Opinions/Advice Concerns: One review expressed alarm after receiving a recommendation for "hormone blockers" and suggested getting a "second opinion" after a visit, indicating potential discrepancies or concerns with the medical advice provided in some instances.
It is clear that client experiences at Central Avenue Veterinary Clinic can vary significantly, with strong positive feedback for specific surgical outcomes contrasted by significant concerns regarding overall customer service and certain medical recommendations.

For pet owners throughout Seekonk and the wider Massachusetts region, Central Avenue Veterinary Clinic presents a veterinary option with both notable strengths and areas of concern, making it a practice that requires careful consideration for locals. On one hand, the clinic clearly possesses specialized expertise in certain areas, particularly with specific breeds like bulldogs and for elective procedures such as ear cropping. The positive review regarding the Cane Corso's ear cropping highlights a high level of satisfaction with a specific surgical outcome, suggesting that for certain niche needs, Dr. Truesdale may be highly competent. The staff can also be "amazing, patient, and kind" in these contexts.
However, the other review raises significant red flags regarding the overall client experience and potentially some medical practices. Concerns about an "obnoxious" waiting room, dismissive front desk staff, and a doctor perceived as not listening to all concerns and being overly focused on "expensive" procedures are serious points for consideration. The "hormone blockers" incident and the recommendation to seek a "second opinion" are particularly alarming for general pet health concerns and suggest a need for thorough due diligence.
Therefore, for Massachusetts locals, Central Avenue Veterinary Clinic might be suitable if you are seeking very specific, specialized surgical services (like ear cropping for certain breeds) where their expertise has received positive feedback. In such cases, it would be crucial to engage directly with Dr. Truesdale on that specific procedure. However, for general veterinary care, routine check-ups, or for pet owners who prioritize a consistently calm environment, attentive customer service, and a doctor who listens comprehensively to all concerns, the clinic's suitability is less clear based on the conflicting reviews.
Prospective clients in Massachusetts are strongly advised to leverage the "meet and greet" option, if available, and to go prepared with a list of questions, observing interactions closely. It would also be prudent to consider getting second opinions for significant medical recommendations, as suggested by one client. Ultimately, the decision to use Central Avenue Veterinary Clinic should be made with a full understanding of these varied experiences, prioritizing your pet's comfort and your peace of mind.

Central Avenue Veterinary Clinic Reviews
I own a 4 year old bulldog and have received recommendations for bulldog savy Vetrinarians/technicians and Dr. Trusedale was one of them. I had an original appointment as a meet and greet. (We were trying to find the most trustworthy Dr. needed for her spay/palette/ and nares.) During the original appointment i had told the technician i had never had luck with any other Dr so far so i hope this is the right fit. Dr. Truesdale came in and sold us! we were so sold we came back for another appointment months later (urgent care). The waiting room was obnoxious dogs yelling at eachother, owners not being able to handle their own pet. It made everyone including people in the waiting room more anxious. The girl at the front desk could care less about anything besides her paycheck. I was new to the practice and didn’t know how to check in (due to the chaos) and i was met with the most attitude i have ever received in customer service. She did not help me or the situation whatsoever. The Dr. finally called us in and i kid you not! i can’t believe i paid for an appointment he didn’t listen to any of my concerns only concerned that i was here previously for a surgery which is $$$ to the practice. I left that appointment with “hormone blockers” to “stop” my dog from entering heat so he could spay her. When consulting other veterinarians they are nothing but alarmed from the horror. The practice and front desk staff need to do better for the well being of the patients and customer service. I will never go back again. I recommended to always get a second opinion AFTER being seen here. Dr Truesdale is a sales man.
Jun 27, 2025 · Kate ODr Truesdale did an amazing job on my cane corso's ears being cropped. The staff was amazing, patient with my million questions and kind. They were done at 10 weeks old. This is her now, at 10 months. Highly recommend.
Dec 20, 2024 · Darcy SlickWe have had many dogs throughout the years and have seen many veterinarians. Dr. William Truesdale is by far the most compassionate and caring man. I love he is the only doctor you see and manages most issues immediately! The staff are pleasant and efficient. We are so thankful to have found Dr Truesdale! Affordable and attentive 👍🏼
May 07, 2025 · MaryAnn DavisDr Truesdale does an amazing job with his cropping. We asked for a shop crop and this is Hugo at 6 months. They healed perfectly as well.We did not however follow the after care instructions. Which is the only reason this is a 4 star review instead of 5. We pulled off the bandages and the cup the same day he got home. We cleaned once, and let nature do it's thing, they scabbed up perfectly and healed very nicely. Being a show crop we did not post at all, ears stood fully about 4-6 weeks later.
Jun 28, 2024 · Emma FalzonI don’t have enough kind words for the staff at this facility. We had an emergency over the weekend, and the team was incredibly patient, informative, and genuinely caring. I was anxious, and probably not the warmest person in the moment, because my pup was in pain and I just wanted her to be okay.I gave the go-ahead to do whatever was necessary, expecting a bill that would be way beyond what I could manage. To my surprise, the final cost was very reasonable for the level of care and service provided. This is a medical facility, and in my opinion, the price was low—which makes me think the staff might be underpaid for the incredible work they do. But you'd never know it. Their compassion and professionalism shine through, and I’m truly grateful for their dedication.
