★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (100 stars if I could!)I felt compelled to write this review after the incredible care and compassion I received from Citrus Heights Pet Hospital during one of the hardest moments of my life. My 13-year-old Chihuahua, Pistachio, who had been my loyal companion for so many years, became very sick, and I knew his time was coming to an end. From the very first phone call, the staff was kind, patient, and deeply understanding. When I brought Pistachio in, I was emotional and overwhelmed, but every single person I interacted with showed genuine empathy and respect. They helped guide me through the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep with honesty, compassion, and sensitivity. What stood out the most was how personal and sincere the entire experience felt. I never once felt like my dog was just another appointment — the team treated Pistachio like he was their own. Afterward, I even received a handwritten card signed by every member of the staff, expressing their condolences. That small gesture meant so much.In a moment of loss, when everything feels heavy, they made a painful goodbye feel peaceful and filled with love. I will always remember that.If you’re looking for a veterinary team that truly cares, I couldn’t recommend Citrus Heights Pet Hospital more. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.—Erica
June 25 · Erica OberleThis Citrus Heights pet hospital , it's not only a hospital, it's a Veterinarian Clinic as well. The prices for the services are very reasonable. I have taken 2 of my cats there already to have their ears, looked at and to get their set of shots, and now I'm getting ready to take my third cat there to get him fixed and to get his first set of shots. The Citrus Heights pet hospital is the cleanest pet hospital I've ever been in, the staff there are very polite, understanding , patient and all around good people. You can tell that they really care about the animals that are brought in there to get looked at . I most definitely would recommend this place to everybody and anyone I know.. if I could have given them more than five stars, I most definitely would have.
May 27 · Christine RobertsCitrus Heights has been our vet for many years. We have had to put animals down, we've had basic checkups, puppy/kitten exams, teeth cleanings & extractions, and annual exams, broken legs or feet, ear infections and we've had some seriously weird things happen with our pets. All have been well taken care of and managed by CHPH. The doctors, techs and staff all are caring and gentle with our pets. We always enjoy that they are as caring with our pets as we are! We always have been given an estimate for services and have an understanding that weird things happen, or teeth break or infections happen. We TRUST Dr Brickson completely. Her knowledge and expertise is why we go there, to have her give us the truth. It may not be what we want to hear, but that happens sometimes. Other times it is REALLY good news and we love Dr Brickson's sharing of how she technically did something to make it better for our pet, something most vets wouldn't do, but she takes the time! She always does her best by the pet, even when it is more difficult for her to perform the task. We are always given options if there are any for that particular disease or treatment. If we ever balk at the cost of something, we're given options, or a clear explanation of why delaying treatment will cost us more in the long run. We have had nothing but care and compassionate attitude and treatment by the staff. We have heard the front office get berated by clients (in person or over the phone) and they do their best to deal with upset and sad clients who angrily blame the staff or doctors for their pet's condition or the cost of treatment. It isn't the staff or doctor's fault that it is expensive to treat animals! We have ALWAYS heard CHPH staff try and be as kind as possible even in the most difficult of situations, even when they don't know we can hear them speaking to other clients. There are requirements by the State, like with your own doctor that you must be seen before a prescription can be refilled if you haven't seen them in period of time. That isn't the doctors trying to pad the bill, that's a legal requirement! Put it on your calendar to remind you about your pet's prescriptions and exams, and call in advance so you can get in on time for your pet's needs. The doctors can lose their license if they don't follow laws and regulations, so don't blame them you came in a week after your pet's prescription expired and need a refill fast! Please learn something about veterinary medicine before lashing out at them! We love their new location, clean, neat, easy access and larger exam rooms and treatment areas. We completely respect Dr Brickson's opinions and knowledge, she has never steered us wrong and our pets love her and the staff too. Get on the books with CHPH, become a regular client and see the benefits of wonderful care for your pets! We have been very happy with our care from CHPH and recommend every one of our friends to go there too!
August 06 · T ZOur dog began choking tonight while eating his food. In a panic, I rushed to the nearest open vet clinic for help. He was breathing again by the time we made it there and they still took him back and checked him out for us. I just really want to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctor because I know they didn't have to do that and it really meant a lot to our family. ❤️
January 23 · Linzy LouWhoSenior pet parents, run away QUICKLY...Do not bring your geriatric pets here or you may be risking early death. My senior pets were long established with this practice but ever since this practice changed locations, I have seen a steep decline in overall experience compared to what I was previously accustomed to. Most notably, one of my pets recently had an acute infection exacerbating a previously mild chronic health condition. I am now learning from vet records that this crisis may have been preventable and I believe labeling my pet's "care" there as ongoing gross negligence is still putting it kindly. During a short window of time dealing with this crisis, I ran into issues with multiple vets providing care because the usual vet was never there, critical prescriptions being delayed, time-sensitive bloodwork taking twice as long as it should to be processed, not being told about treatment options that could have sped up recovery until way after the fact, the usual vet forgetting what kind of infection my pet was having treated, and this same vet also quickly throwing in the towel (focusing on end of life care) because my pet is old. Sorry for being such an inconvenience?Took this pet to someone who specializes in elderly animals for a second opinion and I am already seeing marked improvements in behavior, symptoms, and bloodwork. Imagine my shock when I discovered my pet was prescribed drugs that were causing harm and the prognosis would actually be better if I stopped giving them. Turns out all that was needed was some daily vitamins/supplements, diet changes, a course of symptom-specific antibiotics, and an asthma inhaler. My pet is currently the happiest I have seen in years with not even a hint of end of life behavior or need for that kind of care.I am not sure we can entirely reverse the recent damage caused by what appears to be a combination of indifference and incompetence, but I do trust this new vet will actually ensure my pet has the best quality of life moving forward. After learning all this, I have since brought my other 2 senior pets for second opinions with the geriatric doctor and they both also had health issues that had previously gone unidentified and/or were inadequately treated by the same vet involved in the recent crisis. Unless you have a young pet, I recommend you go elsewhere and avoid risking a similar experience to my own.
