★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The staff was friendly and the Veterinarian took good care of my cat by removing a tumor on my kitties stomach. His price was very affordable considering the surgery needed. I was only charged $350. As to another vet clinic I took her before wanted THREE THOUSAND! There prices were ridiculous. Thank you Clay Animal Clinic for your kindness and care for my cat.
August 26 · mista tokesI have been using Clay Animal Clinic for 15-years with my cats. Although I truly love Dr. Smith, his front office staff sucks!!!! He goes through so many staff employees at his clinic, should give a clue. No one ever answers the phone, I am lucky after leaving a voice mail, I may, or may not get a call back. Dr. Smith is a great Vet but I would NOT recommend Clay Animal Clinic. Sorry to say, because I loved Dr. Smith
July 08 · SerenaI wish I could give a minus one-star review based on the appalling treatment I received on June 30, 2025. The person I spoke with did not identify themselves, and I refuse to make assumptions about their role. I moved to Texas four years ago, and my family, who have been long-time patients of Dr. Smith, highly recommended him. They have always praised his care.I brought my then 22-year-old cat and my two new dogs to him without any issues and trusted him completely because of the compassion he previously showed to me and my pets. However, after my experience yesterday, I will not return.Dr. Smith, you have lost a customer because your front office staff is unacceptable. They do not answer the phones, and when they do, they are cold, detached, and lacking in compassion. My now 25-year-old cat was in decline, and I did not want him to suffer in his final hours. I urgently needed Dr. Smith's help to assist with his passing.I called three times and received no response. On the fourth call, the person I spoke to was not only rude and dismissive but also condescending. When I explained my situation and expressed my desire to euthanize my cat, she bluntly informed me that there were no appointments available and that the soonest I could be seen would be July 14th. I made it clear that my cat would not make it to July 14th and emphasized that this was an emergency. Her response—that this is not an emergency veterinary practice—was utterly heartless.Dr. Smith, it is imperative that you reassess your front office staff; they are damaging your reputation. During my past appointments, I was the only one in the waiting room, despite claims that you are booked weeks in advance. If your practice is indeed that busy, you should seriously consider hiring another veterinarian to manage the overflow.Ultimately, I took my cat to Affordable Pet Care as a walk-in. They exceeded my expectations with their compassion and genuine concern. They apologized sincerely for the poor treatment I received and did not make me wait in a crowded waiting room. Instead, they ushered us in immediately and allowed me as much time as I needed to say goodbye. I felt heard and supported in the loss of my beloved cat.A veterinarian should provide care from cradle to grave, and there must always be availability for urgent visits, whether it involves euthanasia or a minor issue. Dr. Smith, it’s crucial that you change your front office staff; they are seriously undermining your good name and reputation.
July 01 · Alana KlagesThe only reason I am giving a 1 star is because of the staff employee Vanessa. Very Rude, no compassion for my dog.I called for several days to try to get an appointment, but they never answer their phone's. I left several messages and also tried to get an appointment on the website. Again, no one returned my calls or answered (no reply) the request on the website. I decided to go to the clinic to get my dog seen asap, Vanessa had no compassion for my dog nor did she even ask what the issue was, all she said was she was too busy to answer the phone (there was also another staff member sitting at the front desk doing nothing and only ONE person waiting to see the doctor) Vanessa said if you have an emergency go to the emergency animal clinic. I indicated it was not yet an emergency but could result in one if I can't get my dog an appointment. She said very coldly the soonest she could schedule him was a week and half away. I asked if she could PLEASE ask Dr Smith if he could see him after his last appointment that I would wait. She again very coldly said NO the soonest she would see him was a week and half away. It was such a traumatic experience; I will never go back again because of Vanessa. Dr. Smith you need to review what your website says, "Staff is compassionate and caring" This is not true with Vanessa! Only 1 person was waiting in the lobby to see the vet.I got a recommendation from a friend for another VET clinic, and they got him in right away as a walk-in. Staff at my dog's new VET is VERY Compassionate and VERY Caring and the Vet was just as wonderful! I am happy to say my dog has a New Vet now.
April 14 · Karen StrieterBrought my cat for a simple yearly check up - the doctor was very sweet & gentle with my cat & he answered all of my questions without rushing me. Exam seemed very simple and short, just looked at my cat’s ears, teeth, & general appearance but I guess that’s all that’s needed. Their prices are reasonable which is always nice! They have some office cats that wander around free, while adorable, my cat has FIV & isn’t supposed to be exposed to other cats. Probably not a big deal but just to note. As other reviews mentioned, the front desk staff was unhelpful & seemed bothered by my asking of any questions. I asked if I could let my cat out of the carrier once in the exam room, she said she didn’t know & didn’t seek to find out. I asked if my cat was caught up on vaccines, she told me to call back to check because she didn’t know anything about cat vaccines.
