Cleveland Veterinary Rehabilitation Introduce
For pet owners across Ohio, especially in the greater Cleveland area, witnessing a beloved animal struggle with pain, recover from surgery, or face mobility challenges can be incredibly distressing. Just like humans, our pets can greatly benefit from specialized physical rehabilitation to regain strength, reduce discomfort, and improve their overall quality of life. In Willoughby Hills, OH, Cleveland Veterinary Rehabilitation stands as a dedicated and compassionate center, offering advanced therapies to help our furry friends move better and live happier lives.
Cleveland Veterinary Rehabilitation is a unique, stand-alone veterinary practice entirely devoted to the physical rehabilitation of dogs and cats. This specialization means they bring focused expertise and state-of-the-art equipment to help pets recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, or prepare for and recover from surgery. Led by highly skilled veterinarians such as Dr. Huppe and Dr. Surovi, along with a team of dedicated trainers and therapists, the clinic approaches each case with a multimodal strategy. Their mission is clear: to decrease pain, increase functional mobility, and ultimately enhance the quality of life for both companion and performance animals.
The origin of Cleveland Veterinary Rehabilitation is rooted in a deep understanding of pet owners' needs. Dr. Laura Surovi, a co-founder, developed her passion for pet pain management and rehabilitation after experiencing the challenges of finding specialized care for her own disabled dog. This personal journey fuels the clinic's commitment to providing a compassionate, stress-free environment where pets can heal at their own pace, and owners are fully supported and informed throughout the rehabilitation journey. For Ohioans seeking specialized, expert care to help their pets thrive, this facility offers a beacon of hope and healing.
Cleveland Veterinary Rehabilitation is conveniently located at 28915 Chardon Rd, Willoughby Hills, OH 44092, USA. This prime location makes it easily accessible for pet owners throughout the greater Cleveland metropolitan area and surrounding Ohio communities. Residents from cities such as Mentor, Painesville, Euclid, Richmond Heights, Highland Heights, and even parts of Akron can reach the facility with relative ease, thanks to its proximity to major highways.
The clinic is designed to provide a comfortable and stress-free environment for pets, a crucial aspect when dealing with animals who may already be in pain or anxious. Pet owners appreciate the thoughtful setup, which aids in a smoother rehabilitation process. While it is a specialized facility, clients typically schedule appointments for initial evaluations and subsequent therapy sessions to ensure personalized attention and consistent progress tracking. Calling ahead to discuss your pet's needs and schedule an initial consultation is the best way to begin their healing journey with this dedicated team.
Rehabilitation Evaluation: A comprehensive assessment of your pet's musculoskeletal and neurological systems to develop a personalized, multi-modal treatment plan. This initial appointment typically lasts 90-120 minutes and includes immediate treatments.
Underwater Treadmill: A highly effective low-impact, high-resistance therapy. The warm water helps soothe muscles, reduce pain, build strength, and improve mobility for pets recovering from surgery, dealing with arthritis, injuries, or neurological conditions like degenerative myelopathy and disc disease.
Therapeutic Exercise & Physical Rehabilitation: Tailored exercises to increase range of motion, build muscle strength, improve balance, and reduce pain. This includes a gym with specialized equipment for various exercises.
MLS Laser Therapy: A non-invasive, drug-free treatment that uses low-level lasers to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and accelerate healing by stimulating cellular activity. Effective for acute injuries, chronic conditions, and post-surgical pain.
Acupuncture: An ancient Chinese healthcare method recognized as a safe and effective form of medicine for pain relief, inflammation reduction, and promoting overall well-being.
Chiropractic Care: Gentle, specialized manual techniques to realign the spine and relax muscles, restoring neurological function and alleviating discomfort.
Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques like trigger point release, myofascial release, joint mobilization, massage, and stretching to assess and treat muscles and joints, improving flexibility and reducing tension.
Gait Analysis & Lameness Detection System: Advanced technology to assess a pet's walking pattern, detect early signs of lameness, and monitor progress during therapy, ensuring objective measurement of improvement.
Resistance Pool: Offers swimming as a comprehensive form of exercise to improve overall conditioning, decrease inflammation, increase metabolism, and reduce pain.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): A unique offering (potentially the only chamber for veterinary use in Ohio) where pets breathe 100% oxygen under pressure, promoting healing, reducing inflammation, and benefiting various conditions from wound healing to post-surgical recovery and autoimmune disorders.
Shock Wave Therapy: Another non-invasive treatment that stimulates cells to release healing growth factors, reducing swelling and inflammation, increasing blood flow, and enhancing healing.
Regenerative Medicine (PRP): Platelet-rich plasma therapy to aid in tissue healing, shown to be effective in managing various orthopedic conditions.
Home Exercise Program (HEP): A critical component of their rehabilitation, providing pet owners with a series of therapeutic exercises to perform at home between visits, promoting continued recovery and strength building.
Cart & Brace Assistance: Guidance and fitting for assistive devices to support pets with mobility challenges.
Synovetin OA: A revolutionary injectable product designed to relieve pain associated with osteoarthritis for up to a year.
Specialized Rehabilitation Focus: As a stand-alone veterinary rehabilitation practice, they offer focused expertise and advanced equipment specifically for physical therapy, unlike general vet clinics.
Highly Skilled & Compassionate Team: Dr. Huppe and Dr. Surovi, along with their trainers (like Molly), are consistently praised for being "awesome," compassionate, patient, and knowledgeable. They understand nervous pets and tailor approaches to their pace.
Advanced Modalities: Offering cutting-edge treatments such as underwater treadmill, MLS laser therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (potentially unique in Ohio for veterinary use), acupuncture, chiropractic care, and regenerative medicine, providing a comprehensive healing toolkit.
Proven Success Stories: Client testimonials vividly describe dramatic improvements in pets' conditions, from overcoming the need for surgery for luxating patella to speedy recoveries after TPLO surgery, giving pets "a new life."
Personalized Treatment Plans: Every pet receives a comprehensive assessment and a customized treatment plan, which may involve multiple modalities, ensuring targeted and effective care.
Focus on Home Exercise Programs: Pet owners are actively involved in the rehabilitation process, taught how to perform exercises at home, which is crucial for continued progress and preventing re-injury.
Comfortable & Stress-Free Environment: The newly built, state-of-the-art facility is designed for pet comfort, helping to reduce anxiety during visits, which is especially beneficial for animals in pain or with behavioral sensitivities.
Collaborative Care: They emphasize working as a team with your pet's primary care veterinarian or specialist to achieve the highest level of function and independence.

Cleveland Veterinary Rehabilitation Reviews
Cleveland Veterinary Rehab is awesome! Dr. Huppe and team have been great. They have done an awesome job with my nervous dog going at his pace and helping him heal before and after his TPLO surgery.
May 22, 2025 · Steph SecicDr. Surovi and her team have been a godsend for our 1 year old dog. When we were told our 6 month old puppy would need surgery for her luxating patella, we knew we had to try something else first. After having our energetic dog need to be sedated for hours at a time to keep her out of pain, I can say with full confidence that Cleveland Vet Rehab has saved our lives and preserved our happiness. Molly Moon is now a confident, loving, and still very energetic dog who looks forward to her underwater treadmill and gym time with her trainer, also named Molly :) we cannot thank this place enough for giving our pup a new life!
Jan 17, 2025 · Emma Rose ShulmanWe are grateful for Dr Surovi and staff for all of the care and attention given to Moose, Mollie and Minnie Bee (RIP). We consistently visit to keep the mobility of our aging bulldogs as best as possible through laser therapy and acupuncture.
Jun 11, 2024 · Patti ConradWe love CVR! Dr. Laura Surovi and the entire staff are so incredible. My dog is a recent amputee due to cancer so we go in for the hydrotherapy pool and acupuncture. CVR has become his favorite place, and the staff have become his favorite people. I know that each visit Zeek is getting the best care. They truly go above and beyond in every aspect. We’re so thankful to have found them to help Zeek become the best version of his new self!
Apr 12, 2024 · Lauren StinzianoDr. S and her team have been incredible to our 6 year old Goldendoodle who suffered a spinal injury in 2022. We do acupuncture and have done under water treadmill therapy as well. I know when we come she is in the best care and getting healthier with each session. Forever grateful.
