Veterinarian, Cat boarding service ★4.0

It's unfortunate I am finally writing this review now, it's probably been a year, but after my cat's very recent passing I feel it is just to finally speak up, and I regret not saying anything sooner. I would go so far to say I would sue this place if I had the proof and means. If you love your pets - steer clear of this place. I had decided to try this place since they were closer to home and had manageable hours. I horribly regret even thinking about considering anything other than my original vet in Sachse. I boarded 3 of my pets here.. 2 out of 3 came back to me in worse condition than when I left them and I never received a single phone call, apology.. nothing. My corso was not yet neutered, and his balls were all bloody and swollen and infected and he cried in pain. When my husband asked them about what happened they shrugged it off and claimed "it's probably from the cleaning chemicals." Even if it was.. um hello? So you're just going to ignore the issue and not say anything? I have no idea how long he was like that. (Not to mention every previous appt I had tried taking my corso for general visits they were always too scared to handle him and essentially refused service - costing me a waste of money every time - my other vet has no issues with him - they simply gave us sedative medications to help calm him and earned his trust). Makes me wonder why my corso has such a harder time getting to know country friends than my other vet. The worst of all this was my dear sweet cat Applesauce. They have the cats boarding in a separate building (which I thought would be good for her to ease stress), but after I got her back I'm starting to think she was forgotten about and lonely. She was already a small girl, averaging around 6-7lbs while healthy, and upon her return she weighed barely 5lbs. She could barely walk and was extremely hunched and was shaking badly. She needed medications during her stay to help her eat since I knew she was slow to eat when boarding, and due to the weight loss I don't think she ever received those medications. I've had her boarded at other vets several times before and have NEVER received her back in such a disheveled state. I was mortified to say the least. I took her and my corso back to my other vet in Sachse to figure out what was going on.. speeding up the neuter process for my corso.. and finding out my cat all of a sudden has chronic kidney disease (go figure - all her previous appts and prior to boarding she was healthy and after I board her all of a sudden she is extremely unwell?). My other vet and I worked diligently to get my cat's weight back up to par and make her well again but she never truly recovered. CKD obviously worsens with time.. and upon her euthanasia this past Wednesday my vet also thinks she had liver disease and cancer. She also experienced significant muscle loss and continued to lose weight. She was only 11 years old. It's a strong assumption, but I feel Country Friends was the beginning of my poor cat's downfall and was partially responsible if not fully. She had a generally clean bill of health every visit prior, and it wasn't only until after she returned from boarding was she seriously unwell. I don't know if they forgot her, didn't give her meds, or what. But something wasn't right and they did not treat her well. Neither with my corso. And to add fuel to the fire, they never seemed concerned or called. If you paid attention to my cat and/or cared you would notice a cat who starts at 6-7lbs and fine to now extremely skinny and shaking - it's pretty noticeable to say the least and should have been alarming to them at the very minimum - when putting her in the carrier to return to me. And yet not a word from them. I have also heard other reports about country friends not giving meds as well. But I decided it was 1 review and to trust them. My trust was completely broken and I feel nothing but distain for this place. I was a vet tech myself once and none of this would have flew under our care. Save your pets and yourself the grief and go elsewhere. - sarah cirullo

Country Friends Veterinary Clinic (CFVC) Introduce

For pet owners in the greater Royse City and Rockwall, Texas, communities, finding a veterinary clinic that offers comprehensive, compassionate, and trustworthy care is a top priority. Country Friends Veterinary Clinic, often referred to as CFVC, is a women-owned veterinary practice that aims to be a cornerstone of pet health in the region. The clinic offers a wide array of services for both cats and dogs, ranging from routine preventative care to more specialized treatments and procedures. Their team of veterinary professionals is committed to providing a high standard of medical service, focusing on building strong, lasting relationships with both their two-legged and four-legged clients.

The core philosophy of CFVC is centered on a "passion for pets and people," as they strive to treat every client and patient as an extension of their own family. This approach is designed to create a welcoming and supportive environment where pet owners feel heard and their animals feel safe. The clinic understands that veterinary visits can be stressful, and they work diligently to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved. In addition to their veterinary services, they also provide pet boarding, which is a convenient option for local families.

However, as with any service, client experiences can vary. While many clients have had positive interactions, praising the staff for their kindness, knowledge, and for taking the time to discuss treatment plans in depth without feeling rushed, there have also been notable negative accounts. One particularly detailed review described a highly distressing experience with pet boarding, citing concerns over a lack of communication, the poor condition of pets upon their return, and a perceived disregard for the animals' well-being. This review, in stark contrast to the positive ones, serves as a reminder for potential clients to conduct their own thorough research, ask questions, and be proactive in their pet's care. It highlights the importance of open communication and trust between a pet owner and their vet, which CFVC strives to build with all of its clients. The clinic’s commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive environment is also a key part of their identity, as they proudly identify as a women-owned and LGBTQ+ friendly establishment.
