Creature Counseling Introduce
For pet guardians across South Central Wisconsin facing challenges with their dog's or cat's behavior, Creature Counseling offers a specialized and compassionate solution. Established in October 2000 and led by veterinarian Dr. Susan Krebsbach, DVM, Creature Counseling is a unique veterinary animal behavior consulting service dedicated to enhancing the special relationship between pets and their people. When that bond is strained by behavioral issues—whether it’s aggression, phobias, inappropriate elimination, or anxiety—this clinic provides the expertise and guidance to help overcome even the worst behavioral problems.
Dr. Krebsbach's background is particularly valuable, combining her rigorous training as a veterinarian with an intense focus on animal behavior. This duality means that when your pet is evaluated, potential medical issues—which can often be the underlying cause or a contributing factor to behavioral problems—are thoroughly considered and treated appropriately, in cooperation with your family veterinarian. Her approach is rooted in compassion and understanding, establishing an environment of teamwork between the veterinarian, the client (guardian), and the patient (pet). The ultimate goal is not just to manage but to resolve the behavioral problem(s) and strengthen the happy, loving bond you share with your companion. Dr. Krebsbach’s extensive experience, which includes working with animal rescue organizations and receiving numerous awards for her advocacy, ensures that your beloved friend is truly in the best, most passionate hands.
In addition to addressing existing problems, Creature Counseling also emphasizes preventative measures, helping pet owners avoid the development of future issues due to unreasonable expectations or a lack of understanding of normal animal behavior. This proactive approach underscores the clinic's dedication to long-term animal welfare across the Wisconsin community.

Creature Counseling provides unique features that distinguish it as a leading resource for pet behavior health in Wisconsin:
- Dual Expertise (Veterinarian and Behavior Specialist): The clinic is led by a DVM, Dr. Susan Krebsbach, who integrates medical and behavioral knowledge, ensuring that physical health issues are not overlooked as a cause of behavioral change.
- Focus on the Human-Animal Bond: The services are explicitly aimed at enhancing the relationship between pets and their people, not merely suppressing symptoms, a key factor in successful long-term outcomes.
- Community and Welfare Commitment: Dr. Krebsbach’s extensive work with animal shelters, rescue organizations, and animal welfare advocacy reflects a deep dedication to all animals, including those adopted from shelters or rescues, who qualify for a discount on initial consultations.
- Flexible Consultation Formats: The availability of in-person, Home Consultations, and remote options via telephone and video conferencing ensures that specialized behavior advice is accessible across South Central Wisconsin and beyond.
- Proactive Prevention Programs: The offering of Puppy Socialization Classes and kitten classes provides valuable early intervention services, helping pet owners preempt future complex problems.

- Dr. Susan helped me and my dog so much with management of noise phobias. I don't even know what we would have done without her expertise and support. Highly recommend! September 06 · Linda Jaros
- Excellent advice and training throughout the adoption and adjustment process with my rescue. Couldn’t have done it without Dr. Krebsbach’s sage coaching. Amazing results guiding an anxious dog’s journey to becoming a loyal, routine loving, sweet family member. September 17 · Jolli Jolli
- Dr. Krebsbach was a wonderful support to us. We contacted Creature Counseling because our 2 cats just couldn't seem to get along for months, and we were afraid we'd have to bring the new cat back to the shelter. We had tried all the advice we could read online and in books about introducing them, and it just didn't seem to be working. When we met with Dr. Krebsbach, she was able to assess our cats and gave us individualized, practical plans for them, and with her guidance, we were able to foster peace between our cats. She has ability to understand animals' needs and interpret their body language and actions. Our two cats are now friends, which I credit to her. She also gave us the confidence to believe we could achieve our goal for them. It has been over 2 years since then, and I am still so grateful for her help.Dr. Krebsbach also clearly deeply cares for the wellbeing of animals. She is compassionate and seems to have such a genuine passion for animal welfare and ensuring that all animals have a happy life and a home. November 08 · Molly Raskin
