Dechra Veterinary Products Introduce
For pet owners and veterinary professionals throughout Kansas, understanding the network that supports high-quality animal care is essential. **Dechra Veterinary Products**, located in Leawood, is recognized not as a traditional, walk-in animal clinic, but rather as a highly specialized component of the global animal health sector. Operating from its location in Leawood, this entity functions primarily as a provider of specialized veterinary pharmaceuticals, related products, and technical support—all supplied exclusively to veterinarians. This is an important distinction for local users: while the address is in Kansas, this location supports the veterinarians who, in turn, care for your pets.
Dechra’s core mission is the sustainable improvement of global animal health and welfare. They accomplish this by developing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling high-quality products that address complex and specialized conditions. Their expertise lies in challenging therapeutic areas such as endocrinology, topical dermatology, and analgesia/anesthesia. In essence, Dechra is the company that supplies the advanced tools and specialized medications your family vet uses to diagnose and treat certain sophisticated conditions.
The detailed list of capabilities associated with their products and support services covers a vast spectrum of veterinary practice, from routine diagnostics to complex surgical and regenerative medicine procedures. This comprehensive suite underscores their deep commitment to partnering with veterinary professionals worldwide, including those right here in Kansas. They aim to be the veterinary professional's company, offering not just products but also high levels of technical support and educational training to promote best practices in animal care.
However, as a company operating in the pharmaceutical and product manufacturing space, the experience for end-users—the pet owners—is fundamentally different from visiting a local clinic. Reviews for a business of this nature often focus on product performance and corporate accountability rather than bedside manner. Feedback from the public indicates serious concerns regarding product safety, adverse reaction reporting, and corporate transparency, specifically related to ingredient disclosure and pharmacovigilance (the monitoring of drug safety). Such issues, which include reports of adverse reactions and concerns over toxic ingredients for cats, are critical for local veterinarians and pet owners to be aware of when discussing or selecting products from this manufacturer.

### What is Worth Choosing
For the Kansas veterinary community and the pets they serve, Dechra Veterinary Products is worth choosing due to its critical role as a supplier of highly specialized medical products. The company’s focus on complex therapeutic areas means that when a Kansas pet requires specialized medications for conditions like chronic pain, endocrine disorders, or advanced sedation for surgery, it is often a Dechra product that allows the local veterinarian to provide the necessary care. Their extensive product line, from **Animal Anesthesia** to **Regenerative Therapies**, ensures that Kansas veterinarians are equipped with modern solutions.
However, transparency and accountability—or the perceived lack thereof—are essential considerations. While Dechra offers vital products, local veterinarians and pet owners must be vigilant and proactive, especially in light of documented public reports concerning a lack of follow-up on adverse drug reactions and concerns over product ingredients, such as those potentially toxic to cats. Choosing to utilize Dechra products means that Kansas vets are leveraging a global specialist’s medical advancements, but it also necessitates a commitment to diligent self-reporting and close collaboration to ensure the safest outcomes for beloved pets. Ultimately, the company is a crucial, high-level resource for the entire Kansas animal care infrastructure, enabling the execution of advanced clinical procedures that might otherwise be unavailable.

Dechra Veterinary Products Reviews
- My CKD cat experienced a serious adverse reaction (vomiting, abdominal pain, fever) after taking EICOSA 3FF Omega 3 Snipcaps. I immediately reported the case to Dechra on May 16. They acknowledged receipt and promised to follow up with the relevant team-yet no further response ever came.A product that can trigger a systemic inflammatory response in a fragile cat should not be ignored. Veterinary pharmacovigilance is not optional. Pet owners deserve transparency and accountability from the manufacturer, especially when a health event is clearly reported.Very disappointing to see that my cat’s case, though well documented and respectfully presented, received no follow-up whatsoever. - Their Atopivet collars for cats contain lavender fragrance and their Atopivet skin drops contain Linaloon which is the essential oil of lavender (the most toxic form). I called a rep to discuss this and was told they won’t discuss it because it is “a proprietary secret”. I’m not sure how that is legal, exactly, but it doesn’t surprise me in this country. However, there is no way I will be trusting these products. The rep could only say that she “assured” me the products have been tested. How can I trust that? I’m going to state once again that all forms of lavender are toxic to cats, period. Including if they breathe it in or absorb it topically. So why even put that as a fragrance? Of all the things to scent your product with…. Edit: Our clinic no longer carries this product for the above reasons. July 26 · rick grimes
- Yes, I agree with Gordon Emerson's comment. I spoke to a representative today, and she was very vague when I asked her about the claim that Phycox is the only animal product that contains Phycocyanin. I know for a fact that any product with AFA (the blue green algae that Phycox sources their phycocyanin from) contains phycoyanin. This means that products like THE EDGE and others whom have been selling AFA to pets for many years, also contain this compound with its anti-inflammatory and mood elevating properties. Thus, Phycox is NOT the only product with phycocyanin, as they claim in their ad. The rep hung up on me before I could finish speaking. December 07 · Stella Fokas
- False claims are being made about their Phycox product being the only product that has "phycocyanin". Any product with blue-green algae in it (AFA or spirulina) naturally contains phycocyanin. It is the 'blue' part of blue-green algae that helps with inflammation, etc. December 05 · Gordon Emerson
- I paid 19 dollars and change for Vetrolpolycin, 3.5 g/1/8 oz. I squezed the tube, and half way through a complete collapse of the middle, finally got just a dab, small amount out for my dog. REST IS AIR, don't fill tubes, rip off! Only 1/3 full, how's your money going? $!.50 for an orange? LOUSY FILL July 28 · Daniel V., Jr Townsend
