Denali Equine Introduce
For horse owners across the vibrant equestrian communities of North Carolina, finding truly specialized and deeply knowledgeable veterinary care for their equine partners is paramount. In Vass, Denali Equine stands as a premier facility dedicated to the health, performance, and well-being of horses. This is not a general animal clinic; Denali Equine is a focused practice that brings a profound depth of understanding to the unique needs of horses, particularly those involved in athletic endeavors or facing complex lameness and rehabilitation challenges.
Denali Equine distinguishes itself through its commitment to thoroughness and individualized care. As one satisfied trainer noted, the team, including Dr. Workman and Juli, offers an "impressive depth of knowledge" and ensures "each and every horse has a tailored program to help them become healthier athletes!" This personalized approach is crucial for horses, where subtle lameness issues or performance plateaus often require a keen eye and highly specialized diagnostic and treatment methods.
For horse enthusiasts and professionals in the heart of North Carolina's equestrian country, Denali Equine represents an invaluable resource. They are equipped to handle challenging cases, providing hope and tangible results even when long-standing issues have proven difficult to resolve. The dedication of their team, exemplified by Dr. Kate and her ability to guide a horse with a severe condition like kissing spine back to being "under saddle and happy," underscores their expertise and the transformative impact they have on the lives of horses and their owners.
Denali Equine is strategically located at 1087 Lakebay Rd, Vass, NC 28394, USA. This address places it squarely within a region known for its rich equestrian heritage and numerous horse farms, particularly near the Southern Pines and Pinehurst areas. This makes Denali Equine highly accessible for horse owners and trainers across a wide swath of North Carolina, including Moore County, Hoke County, and Cumberland County, as well as those willing to travel for specialized care from further afield.
The importance of an accessible location for an equine veterinary practice cannot be overstated. Horses often require on-site visits, but for specialized diagnostics and treatments that might be better performed at a clinic, a convenient drive is crucial. Lakebay Road provides straightforward access, ensuring that horses needing evaluation or intensive care can be transported efficiently. While the nature of equine practice often involves mobile services, having a dedicated facility that is easy to reach allows for advanced procedures and extended care that may not be possible in a field setting. This thoughtful placement caters directly to the logistical needs of North Carolina's horse owners and professionals.
Denali Equine provides a highly specialized suite of veterinary services tailored exclusively for horses, focusing on performance, lameness, and rehabilitation. Their expertise allows them to address complex issues that might be challenging for general veterinary practices. Based on client testimonials and the nature of a dedicated equine practice, their services likely include:
- Equine Lameness Diagnostics: Utilizing advanced techniques to pinpoint the source of lameness, including thorough physical examinations, dynamic lameness evaluation (e.g., longeing, ridden evaluation), diagnostic nerve and joint blocks, and comprehensive imaging (radiographs, ultrasound, potentially MRI/CT partnerships).
- Equine Sports Medicine: Programs designed to optimize athletic performance, prevent injuries, and manage conditions in performance horses. This can include pre-purchase examinations, performance evaluations, and the management of exertional rhabdomyolysis or other exercise-induced conditions.
- Advanced Rehabilitation Programs: Tailored rehabilitation protocols for horses recovering from injuries, surgery, or managing chronic conditions like kissing spine. This often involves a combination of therapeutic exercises, manual therapies, and advanced modalities.
- Regenerative Therapies: Utilizing cutting-edge treatments such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), Stem Cell Therapy, and IRAP (Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein) to promote healing and reduce inflammation in musculoskeletal injuries.
- Podiatry and Farrier Consultation: Working closely with farriers to address hoof-related lameness and ensure proper hoof balance and shoeing for optimal soundness and performance.
- Pre-Purchase Examinations: Comprehensive evaluations for prospective horse buyers to assess a horse's health, soundness, and suitability for its intended use before purchase.
- Preventative Care & Wellness (Specialized): While not a primary care facility for general health, they likely offer specialized preventative measures relevant to performance horses, such as joint injections or specific conditioning advice.
- Chiropractic and Acupuncture: Complementary therapies often integrated into rehabilitation plans to address musculoskeletal imbalances and pain.

Denali Equine Reviews
I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Denali Equine. I am a trainer and have been in the business for 30 years and I was so impressed with the depth of knowledge that both Dr. Workman and Juli brought to my horses and clients. They were so thorough, no detail was too small, and each and every horse has a tailored program to help them become healthier athletes! Couldn’t recommend them more. I had some challenging issues that we had been struggling with for a long time with a few horses and this is the first time I’ve seen this level of improvement in them. Thank you!
May 30, 2025 · Andreanna PatzwaldDr. Kate and her staff treated my horse that had been diagnosed with kissing spine. I had considered putting him down as he was dangerous to ride and in considerable pain. After his evaluation at Denali I was encouraged that he would recover and become the horse I had hoped to have. I will admit I was skeptical.Fast forward 3 months and my horse is coming along beautifully! He is under saddle and we are both happy!I can’t say enough about the care he received there.
May 18, 2024 · Laurie ReillyAbsolutely astounded over every aspect of our vet appt. earlier this wk.Dr. Workman was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, communicative &, most remarkably, listened to our horse’s entire history of issues. I can’t recall having ever had a vet appt so thorough. (And, unfortunately, we’ve had many!)Thrilled beyond words to have found her!!
May 03, 2024 · Libby LutherMy 2 year old horse came up lame on his right front leg and Dr. Workman came to see him. He was diagnosed with a fracture. It was a really scared diagnosis for me and we brought him to Denali equine to heal, rehab and recover and the care he has received is exceptional! He has been spoiled and and happy despite being on stall rest. He is on the mend thanks to Dr. Workman and her amazing team. She has all of the therapies to help augment healing (PEMF, treadmill, ect) My horse is 100% sound and resuming light activity, turnout and will have a full recovery. I cannot recommend Denali Equine enough and Dr. Workman is so knowledgeable across different disciplines and always does what is in the best interest of the horse. I would not trust anyone else with my horse!!
May 28, 2021 · Mariah MostardiDenali Equine is the place to go if you need your horse rehabbed. They are professional, caring and friendly. I didn't have a moments concern while my horse was in their care. They brought him back from a career ending and possibly life ending injury and returned him to me sound, sane and in better shape than before his injury. I can't say enough good things about Kate, Mike, Juli, and the rest of the staff at Denali Equine!
