This approach aims to combine evidence-based Western medicine with Eastern modalities for personalized and effective care.

- Teeth Cleaning & Home Dental Care Instructions: Comprehensive dental services to maintain oral health, a critical component of overall well-being.
- Emergency Vet Services: While not a 24-hour emergency clinic, they are equipped to handle urgent medical situations during their operating hours, as evidenced by a review where they stayed open for an emergency surgery.

- Pharmacy: Likely has an in-house pharmacy for convenient access to necessary medications.
Dongan Hills Veterinary Practice stands out for several key features and highlights, as well as some aspects that require consideration, based on local New York customer feedback:
- AAHA Accreditation: The practice is notably AAHA-accredited. This signifies that they voluntarily meet or exceed approximately 900 stringent standards of quality in areas like patient care, facility, services (including dental, diagnostic imaging, and surgery), and staff training, distinguishing them from many other clinics.
- Integrative and Holistic Approach (Dr. Brown): A significant highlight is Dr. Brown's philosophy, often described as favoring a "natural approach instead of pushing chemical after chemical." This resonates with pet owners seeking complementary therapies like acupuncture, laser therapy, and herbal treatments, which they offer.
- Compassionate and Knowledgeable Doctors & Staff: Many positive reviews praise the veterinarians, particularly Dr. Brown, for being "incredibly knowledgeable and thorough" and making clients feel "LISTENED to." The staff is also frequently described as "warm and welcoming," "kind and helpful," and genuinely caring, with examples of going "above and beyond" during emergencies.
- Strong Patient Relationships: Clients often express a deep trust and loyalty, with comments like "This is by far the BEST vet practice on the island if you are truly involved in whats best for your pet," and "The only place WE trust with our pets."
- Support for Local Rescues: The practice actively supports local animal rescues, which is a significant highlight for community-minded pet owners, fostering a sense of collective animal welfare.
However, it is crucial for prospective clients to be aware of some notable concerns raised in reviews:
- Financial Transparency and Consent Issues: A significant negative review highlights serious concerns about "unjustified charges, no consent, and zero accountability." This client reported procedures (vaccines, dental work) being performed and charged for without their consent or explanation of costs to their daughter who had limited English. This indicates a potential issue with their consent and billing practices, especially with communication barriers.
- Deposit Policy: While some clients defend the deposit policy ("If you plan on going & taking up an appointment slot there should be no worry about a deposit to hold the appointment"), it is mentioned, implying it's a standard practice that some may find unusual or restrictive.
- Customer Service Responsiveness: The mentioned lack of response to complaints via website and email is a serious concern regarding their accountability and commitment to addressing client grievances.
- Inconsistent Experience: The stark contrast between highly positive and severely negative reviews suggests that while excellent care is possible, the client experience regarding billing and communication may be inconsistent or problematic for some.

Dongan Hills Veterinary Practice Reviews
Dr Brown has seriously been a gift for our Stella's health !! For the first time in my life I actually feel LISTENED to when I walk into a vets office. She likes to take the natural approach instead of pushing chemical after chemical like unfortunately many other vets tend to do. Please do not listen to any of these negative reviews talking about money & the office requiring a deposit. If you plan on going & taking up an appointment slot there should be no worry about a deposit to hold the appointment. This is by far the BEST vet practice on the island if you are truly involved in whats best for your pet
Jan 21, 2025 · Phil DiedrichUnjustified charges, no consent, and zero accountability. I brought my dog to this clinic after being told over the phone that the first-time visit would cost $90 — just a basic wellness exam to activate our pet insurance. Instead, my 17-year-old daughter, a new immigrant with limited English, was taken in alone and the staff performed 8+ vaccines, dental work, and charged a total of $290.25 without ever asking for consent or explaining costs. She was never shown an estimate, never asked if we agreed to any of these procedures. They took my card and charged it, then gave her a paper she thought was just a record of the visit. Only at home did I realize we had been massively overcharged.I wrote to the clinic through their website and email — no response at all. Their silence and refusal to engage is unacceptable. After researching, I saw many similar reviews — people reporting unexpected procedures, extra charges, and no transparency. I’m shocked this clinic is AAHA-accredited.I do not recommend this place to anyone who values honest communication, informed consent, or financial transparency.
May 28, 2025 · AnastasiaVery insensitive. When I made appointment I had to pay 100 dollars which is understandable to make the appointment. Unfortunately my dog died and wasn't able to make the appointment. Iinquired if I would get a refund of the money that I paid being that the death of my dog was beyond control and unexpected. Someone by the name of Donna said she would check with the doctor and call me back. No one ever returned my call. I called back to follow up and Donna told me the money was unrefundable. You would think as medical professionals they would have compassion and empathy. Sam called me back later in the day and was able to resolve the issue and process a refund.
Feb 20, 2025 · Venice ThompsonMy dog Kona has truly transformed under the care of Dr. Jerger. The doctor’s attention to detail and personal care are like none other I’ve experienced in the animal world. I will take my dog to this vet forever. I’ll be a lifetime client for sure!
Mar 18, 2025 · Emily RizzoMe and my family are truly devastated and traumatized from trusting these vets who handled my baby daughter cat Luckie, i hope they did blood test before these vets proceeded to doing intensive mouth surgery thus we already told them about my pet’s underlying health condition, we trusted the vets so much, thats why we went to this place with high hopes that they will use all their expertise to provide proper care for my cat. We felt rushed to make final decisions putting my cat to sleep no sympathy, no affect, no heart to say the least to give us 5 or 10 mins for me and my husband to talk about signing consent to euthanise my cat right in front of our very eyes our emotions are crushed my mind was shut i was dying inside as i was rushed to sign a paper, he was already preparing this medication and syringes of the last shots for my cat prior to me signing the paper he handed me. The vets gave us a discount we think something wrong happened along the process we don't know, we are not very sure but maybe they don't want to feel guilty and at least make us feel that they did us a huge favor thats how we feel, tho my cat’s medical bill is still in thousands of dollars and i will knock off my cat’s bills sooner than the payment plan because it hurts to see this bill in thousands of dollars and my cat died sooner than expected . I am venting out in behalf of my family that’s how they made us feel and treated i could actually go on and on based on our observations how they handled my cat’s health situation but i wont go too much in details we felt strongly that somebody messed up and of course they wont admit, now we are missing my cat who we loved so much and we did everything we could but entrusting your pet’s health with providers that can only give us a repetitive answers as to “ I don’t know whats going on with your cat” extremely sad that my cat was the unlucky one that took the bullet. Again we are traumatize to see this place again it will only bring bad us memories and doubts. My family and I are broken in million pieces
