EPIC Vets Introduce
For pet owners across Southern California, especially in the Temecula Valley and surrounding areas, knowing where to turn during a pet health crisis is essential. **EPIC Vets** (Emergency Pet Intensive Care) is a dedicated 24-hour emergency and critical care veterinary service, designed to be the lifeline for pets and their families when the unexpected happens. Since being founded in 1992, and later acquired by a Critical Care Specialist, EPIC Vets has provided continuous, high-level emergency medical and surgical procedures when regular daytime veterinarians are unavailable, including nights, weekends, and all major holidays.
EPIC Vets understands that a pet emergency is one of the most stressful experiences a family can face. Their entire operation is focused on providing rapid, compassionate, and comprehensive medical intervention for critically ill or injured pets. They do not offer routine health care like vaccinations, grooming, or general practice services, choosing instead to focus all their resources and expertise entirely on **Emergency & Urgent Care**. This specialization ensures that when a severe or time-sensitive issue arises—from a traumatic injury to the ingestion of a toxic substance—the pet receives care from a dedicated, highly trained emergency team.
The hospital's commitment to immediate and advanced care is paramount, utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical capabilities around the clock. They aim to work seamlessly with the patient's primary care veterinarian, ensuring a team-based approach to optimal pet health. While emergency situations are inherently costly, EPIC Vets is known for providing clear financial estimates and working with financial assistance programs, understanding that unexpected costs are a major concern for California families. They strive to be transparent and communicative throughout the entire process, focusing on what is needed to stabilize and treat the pet effectively.

For California pet owners, especially in the Temecula Valley, **EPIC Vets** is worth choosing specifically because it is a dedicated, round-the-clock emergency facility. When a pet is facing a critical, life-threatening situation, you need a hospital that focuses solely on the necessary urgent intervention, not routine appointments. EPIC Vets delivers this by operating as a **24 Hour Animal Hospital** with specialized equipment for surgery, diagnostics (like ultrasounds and ECGs), and immediate treatment for regional dangers, such as rattlesnake bites.
While the reviews available illustrate the highly emotional and challenging nature of emergency veterinary medicine—including instances of long waits during urgent surgeries and the heartbreak of end-of-life situations—they also consistently highlight the genuine care and professionalism of the majority of the staff. Clients frequently praise the team for being "caring and very kind," "knowledgeable and compassionate," and for being "very thorough" in their communication about treatment plans and costs. The staff’s willingness to manage financial discussions with sensitivity is a significant point of value during an emergency.
Ultimately, choosing EPIC Vets means having access to an experienced team and a fully equipped facility that has specialized in critical care since 1992. This is the place to go when your regular vet is closed and your pet’s life or stability is on the line. Their commitment to 24/7 availability and advanced medical capabilities makes them an indispensable safety net for responsible pet ownership in the Temecula community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I waited for a while to give a calm review of this mercenary, uncaring, and incompetent place.Dean was a 2 ½ year old Lynx Point Siamese cat who was paraplegic from about 7 days old and I raised him from that point on. He was very healthy and got along very well.He was brought in for a urinary tract infection and he got a mucus plug blockage from It which I cleared. The infection was the greatest worry. Every person I talked to there was told he was paraplegic. The front staff was very friendly, but it went downhill very quickly from there. They took Dean to the back without us to be examined which I did not care for. Then they came out with an estimate of treatment for $7,000 and also gave the bare bones of $5,000. Both of those estimates were outrageous. When we said we could not afford that they then sent out the vet to talk to us. It went horribly wrong from there. He was very rude and uncaring and mainly tried to convince us to pay the higher amount. He cared very little about Dean or what I had to say. He was focused on the blockage and did not care that I had emptied his bladder that morning as I have done for 2 ½ years 3 times a day or more because he was paraplegic. He kept saying his bladder was full and would not listen that I had emptied it that morning. He said” I don’t think so”. He also said we should just take him home to die.I will always feel guilty about letting that person treat him for a blockage and give him some much-needed antibiotics, They told us to come back in 2 hours at 6pm. We went out to dinner since we did not live close by. We got a phone call telling us to wait until 9:30pm.When we went to pick him up, they told us he was still groggy and asleep. What they brought out was Dean motionless with his eyes open and his pupils fixed and dilated which means he was basically brain dead. I also found out the medical staff never noticed he was paraplegic. When we got home, I lifted him from his carrier to discover a large pool of blood as long as Dean and he was still bleeding. He died within 10 minutes. We still miss him a lot. Please be very very careful about choosing this place August 05 · Michael Clark
- I went to this animal hospital because my cat had severe vomiting. The staff was very kind and compassionate. There was a long wait because the Vet had 2 urgent surgeries with 1 ending in euthanasia. I finally met with Dr Bryden, who despite 2 surgeries and being so busy, she sat with me and discussed the possibility that my cat had cancer. She was so kind and sensitive to my financial situation. My cat ended up transferring to another hospital to have specific ultrasound. The process was seamless and the staff was wonderful. Special thanks to Lisa. She was my initial contact. She was very sweet and encouraging. Best vet experience I’ve ever had. April 17 · Karen Rolls
- They were excellent in every way. We drove from the Palm Springs since there were no 24 hour vets in our area. We made the 90 minutes drive in the middle of the night based upon other 24 hour vet services recommendations. The other vets were not in a position to perform emergency procedures if needed. We're still relatively new to CA and had to trust our gut instincts about taking our cat (our child) to an unknown. We were very impressed with the services and the expediency received. We slept in our car in their parking lot, awaiting test results. Thankfully, our boy did not require hospitalization or surgery. Took him the same visit with pain meds and easily followed instructions. Thank you EPIC Vets! May 01 · Doris Reynolds-Johnson
- Amazing staff. I know my storm is in a better place without anymore pain. Thank you for your honesty, kind words and beautiful card. The only vet I will ever go to. July 21 · Mr. G-Rock Productions
- Kaylee was the tech assign to our girl after a rattlesnake bite. She is compassionate and caring. She spoke about our girl like she was her own. She was very reassuring with the care our girl was receiving. We were given an estimate and even the low end was higher than our final bill.I am hope not to need their services again but will return if so.
