★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After my dog underwent emergency treatment at another hospital, starting with a laceration repair and a partial tail amputation due to necrosis, I moved his care to the Orthopedic & Specialty Surgery team at Friendship Hospital for Animals with the hope of preventing further tail loss. Dr. Adams and her team have been exceptional and developed a thoughtful healing plan. While the visits are not quick, I appreciate the time they dedicate to each case. My dog is still healing, but I feel more confident that his outcome will be positive due to their expertise. If your pet needs targeted care, be prepared for longer appointments—but know that it’s 100% worth it to have specialized care from experts versus general practitioners.
July 18 · BrittThe best provider of comprehensive pet health care. Very welcoming atmosphere. Friendly and caring staff. Very clean facility. The waiting area feels like home. This hospital is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. (Accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association) My grand cat had his cardio exam!
May 17 · LudetteI don’t ever leave reviews, but I had a really bad experience here. I will say- the staff is very nice. But I got there around 7pm and left at 2am without being seen. My cat hasn’t been eating and had strange breathing. They took her vitals and no one ever came back for her. I understand critical cases go first and waited patiently for hours, but people walking in four hours after me who weren’t extremely critical were all seen before me. I was the only person left in the entire lobby at 2am. Around 10pm I asked them about it and they said my case was picked up by a doctor who was with a critical patient, they say likely around an hour so I decide to wait it out .I see them finish several patients, but two hours later, I see them finish up with a patient who I assume was critical, they then call in everyone else but me. At 2am I asked the front desk hey is it possible to be seen in the next ten minutes? She said she couldn’t give me a time estimate still “that’s not how it works”. Lobby had no one else in it. I express I had been there for seven hours. Her case probably would have taken about 10 minutes. I had to leave at hour 7 and am hoping I can get in with my vet emergency hours (who advised me to go to ER last night - which is why I adamantly stayed) , but her case was not seen as important enough to get ten minutes of a doctors time over seven hours. I have gotten almost no sleep and am still worried about her waiting for my vet to open. Again friendly staff, clean facility, but I had a really bad experience.Update : I ended up getting my primary to fit me in early in the morning as she still wasn’t eating. Simple bloodwork and x-rays showed the severity and she had to be rushed to another ER. There they realized it was intestinal cancer that had ruptured, and sadly we had to put her down. Certainly nothing worth ignoring for seven hours.
August 27 · Samantha HouchensTHE HOSPITAL WHERE YOUR PUPPY or PET GOES TO DIE! My husband and I came to Friendship Hospital for Animals located on Brandywine Street on Saturday, July 19, 2025, because our puppy got an infection in his neuter incision site. We were there for three hours. The doctor and staff shaved and cleaned his area. They provided at home care instructions as well as a bunch of medication that he needed to take to help with inflammation and pain. In the email that was sent by the doctor, she said that she was prescribing Amoxicillin, in addition to the other medication. When we left the hospital, they gave us a bag with what we thought was all of the medication that was needed to help our puppy heal. They FAILED to include the Amoxicillin. I didn't realize until five hours later when I reviewed the email that was sent to me two hours after our appointment by the doctor that they never provided us with the Amoxicillin. The Amoxicillin is used to treat the infection. So they FAILED to include the very medicine that would actually help my dog get better. So when I realized I didn't have the proper medication for my dog to fight the infection, I called them and they suggested that I could pick the medication up on Monday. I told them that was unacceptable and that I needed the medication that night. I had to go to their new location on Wisconsin Ave to pick up the medicine. The doctor said that we should be seen for a follow-up on Monday, July 21, 2025. My husband took our puppy to the appointment, and for the second time in three days they FAILED to give us the antibiotics that were needed. They gave us antibiotics that we already had, and the doctor had prescribed a new antibiotic for our puppy to take in addition to the one he was already taking. So after having brought our sick puppy to the hospital, my husband had to go back later that afternoon to pick up the correct antibiotics. If we had not done our due diligence and reviewed everything that was provided to our puppy, our puppy would probably be dead now from an infection!I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TAKE YOUR PET HERE FOR ANY REASON. If you have brought your pet there in the past and your pet died, I would strongly recommend that you review all the documentation and medication provided (if you still have it) because your pet may not have died from natural causes....your pet may have died due to NEGLIGENCE.Also, we were charged $908 for the visit on Saturday and another $200 for the follow-up visit. It's no wonder they can afford a nice, new, upgraded facility on Wisconsin Ave - YOU, the patient, ARE PAYING FOR IT!!! One last note, the BASE FEE for a walk-in urgent care appointment at their new facility on Wisconsin Ave is $302.
July 23 · JK VanderhoffUsed to be a regular at friendship AH when I lived in DC years ago. Live in MD now and would only go there for emergency services because I live too far away otherwise. My dog ingested a marijuana gummy by mistake and I had to go there late Saturday night. They immediately diagnosed the issue and everyone from the front desk to the techs and vets I met with were kind, compassionate and patient with me. And I think their advice and treatment were spot on. Plus they have a nice new facility. So my experience was excellent.
