The customer reviews for Henderson R. Kane DVM, particularly in the context of emergency situations, offer valuable insights into the practice's operations and staff interactions. While experiences can vary, certain aspects are highlighted:
- Competent and Compassionate Veterinarian (in specific instances): One reviewer, despite a difficult outcome, found the "vet herself to be competent and compassionate at the time" and did not feel pressured by her recommendations during a late-night emergency involving their cat's euthanasia. This suggests that the primary veterinary staff strives to provide professional and understanding care during sensitive moments.
- After-Hours Emergency Availability (with limitations): The clinic was open "after 10:30 pm on a Friday night" during an emergency, indicating that they do offer after-hours or extended-hour emergency services. This can be a crucial feature for pet owners when their regular vet is closed, although a recent review highlights significant wait times.
- Focus on Medical Assessment: In the emergency situation described, the vet conducted an assessment (identifying a fatal blood clot), suggesting a focus on medical diagnosis even in challenging circumstances.
- Willingness to Accommodate Urgent Cases: Despite challenges, the fact that pets were admitted for emergency assessment indicates an effort to accommodate urgent needs when possible, which is vital for pet owners in distress.
- Potential for Improvement in Non-Veterinary Staff Interactions: One reviewer noted a "stressful" experience with "unfriendly" non-vet staff, perceiving a greater concern for payment over immediate compassion during a highly emotional time. This suggests an area where the clinic might focus on enhancing the client support aspect, especially during emergencies.
- Challenges with Wait Times and Communication in Emergencies: A recent review expressed significant dissatisfaction with a "more than 4 hours" wait for an emergency and a perceived misdiagnosis leading to a pet's death. This highlights potential challenges with emergency patient flow management and diagnostic thoroughness under pressure.

Henderson R Kane DVM Reviews
I waited more than 4 hours to see Emergency Doctor who refused to do a blood test on my pet who died yesterday. Obviously my pet was misdiagnosed. I'm absolutely devastated. I would not recommend going here for Emergency care!
Oct 11, 2022 · Kathy WagnerThis review is for an Emergency situation and they are not my regular Vet.In September 2011, my cat had an emergency after 10:30 pm on a Friday night and they were the closest vet open at the time. It turned out that my cat suffered a fatal blood clot and needed to euthanized. To be honest, I found the vet herself to be competent and compassionate at the time and I did not feel pressured at all by her recommendation. If I was just judging the vet herself, I would have given her a very good rating. The reason i'm giving it only a fair is because I found the rest of the experience was stressful and the rest of the staff was unfriendly and it was obvious they cared more about getting paid than giving me a minute to comprehend all that was happening (my cat was in extreme pain and yeowling) and to deal with the limited options we had after discussing w/ the vet. I understand this wasn't my normal vet and they don't know me, but at the time their computer was down and they couldn't accept my credit card payment for the cost of treatment, so they wrote it down on a piece of paper and a few days later mailed me a receipt. It gave them the opportunity to send a simple condolences card since they were sending me mail anyway, but all I received was the credit card slip.Because it was an emergency and after regular vet hours, I paid more than usual - I'm not complaining about that in itself, but the lack of compassion at a difficult time left a negative impression on me and in the future if I need to find an after hours vet I will probably go elsewhere. Maybe they had a bad day, or maybe they were upset working late on a Friday - who knows, all I know is I just had to make a quick decision to euthanize my pet and the attitude of the non vet staff was something that made the night all the more stressful.

May 27, 2023 · Valerie RMy first time here, and it was for an emergency. They took great care of my senior dachshund and also of me, who was very nervous bringing my dog to a new place and handing him over to strangers.
Sep 23, 2020 · Kimberly Von HoltzThis place was so expensive for 250 for shots and I didn't even get to get my cat neutered cause I'm low income so now I'm broke as hell
