Hudson Valley Veterinary Dermatology - NYC Reviews
My Frenchie developed an ear infection, and the drops my regular vet prescribed only made things worse. He ended up with a painful middle ear infection. After a stressful emergency vet visit and weeks of waiting for a dermatology consult, I was told he needed a full ear canal sweep—but with no real clarity or confidence from the doctors. It just didn’t sit right with me.Desperate for better care, I found Dr. Budgin. Even though her office is in Westchester, I hopped on the Metro North and walked to her clinic—and honestly, I would travel twice as far to see her. From the moment she stepped into the room, I felt a wave of relief. Her warmth, confidence, and kindness were immediate. You *just know* when you're in the hands of someone truly special.By this point, my poor pup was fed up—he was anxious, reactive, even tried to bite—which is so unlike him. I was horrified. But Dr. Budgin never flinched. She handled him with such grace and empathy, and continued the exam with a calm, reassuring presence that completely floored me. She went so far beyond what any vet has ever done for us.She told me she would consult with neurologists and then followed up with an incredibly detailed, thoughtful report outlining exactly what was going on, what our options were, and what to expect next. With her guidance and collaboration, we were able to avoid an expensive and invasive surgery. Today, my dog is back to his joyful, energetic self—pain-free and thriving.I almost never write reviews, but I insisted on writing this one. Dr. Budgin is truly in a league of her own. Compassionate, responsive, and unbelievably thorough—she’s everything you could hope for in a vet and more. I’m so deeply grateful to have found her. My dog is lucky to be her patient—and so am I. She is a rare gem. The best of the best.

Telling me pros and cons, so I could properly make decisions. She never dismissed my concerns and I really felt like I could trust her. This practice definitely cares about animals and will guide you to make the best decisions for your pet. They also gave my pup a little toy which was so sweet and she hasn’t put it down since!!Highly recommend.
Mar 10, 2025 · LucyCannot recommend Hudson Valley and Dr Budgin enough. Prior to finding Dr Budgin we were at another dermatologist practice in NYC and spent thousands trying to clear our pup Fitzgerald’s skin issues only to have it be worse. After just one visit with Dr Budgin his skin was in better shape with her plan and after his second visit he had completely cleared up! Not only was her plan of action extremely more effective than the other practice but she also showed much more care and warmness towards our pup. We were able to get him a skin allergy test and on immunotherapy under Dr Budgin’s care and his quality of life is so much better. Also want to shout out her staff- they all have always been extremely kind and helpful. Grateful to Dr Budgin and her staff for getting Fitzgerald to a point where he has normal clear skin and can just be the happy go lucky pup he is !!
Oct 21, 2024 · Camellia Hamadanchy PomerantzWe recently adopted our dog, Miss Molly and took her here hoping to find a solution. Molly had developed extreme itchiness and she’d lick her body day and night until exhaustion. We live in the West Village and go to our regular vet for routine checkups, but realized we needed a second option. So we carefully searched online for vet dermatologist specialists in the city and picked here as our first choice. Nice clean, professional office settings, friendly for dogs and cats, although the waiting room was packed! All staff members were passionate pet lovers and incredibly attentive to Molly. Dr. Budgin’s excellent bedside manner showed us how much she cares about not only Molly, but also us! After our first visit, we had lots to do at home, but now it's been a little over 2 weeks, and Molly is finally at peace. No more itching! 10/10 recommend! Dr. Budgin and her teams dedication and expertise deeply touched us!
Jul 30, 2023 · William StrykerWe have searched high and low for a doctor that can address our Frenchie’s skin needs. Dr Budgin is cautious and careful with recommending unnecessary shots or oral medication unless absolutely necessary. After years of trying a food elimination diet that was not working, Dr Budgin did an allergy test and said we could consider immunotherapy. The process was very smooth and they send it to your doorstep with clear instructions.Bruce has been on immunotherapy for a year along with apoquel and some other minor care instructions for his skin. He hasn’t really had a flare up and summer is usually his flaring up months. It was covered by his insurance.Dr Budgin and her team have been vital in helping Bruce to be comfortable without itchies ! Plus he loveeeees all the vet techs and loves Dr Budgin who calls him Handsome Bruce.
