Services Offered
Indy Pet CORE provides a comprehensive range of specialized rehabilitation and physical therapy services, tailored to each pet's individual needs and recovery goals. Their approach is multidisciplinary, utilizing various techniques and state-of-the-art equipment.
- Underwater Treadmill Therapy (Hydrotherapy): A cornerstone of pet rehabilitation, the underwater treadmill uses the buoyancy of water to reduce weight-bearing stress on joints, allowing for controlled exercise and muscle strengthening without excessive impact. It's particularly effective for post-surgical recovery, arthritis management, weight loss, and neurological conditions, even for water-averse dogs, as one review highlighted ("She able to get my dog, who is terrified of water, comfortable with water therapy by session two. He gets in the tank by himself now with no treat incentive.").
- Therapeutic Exercises & Muscle Building: Tailored land-based exercises designed to improve strength, balance, coordination, and range of motion. This includes activities using equipment like cavaletti poles, balance discs, peanut balls, and wobble boards.
- Laser Therapy (Photobiomodulation): A non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to reduce pain and inflammation, accelerate tissue healing, improve circulation, and relax muscle spasms.
- Electrical Stimulation (NMES & TENS):
- Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES): Used to stimulate muscle contraction and recruitment, prevent muscle atrophy, and re-educate muscles after orthopedic or neurological injury.
- Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS): Primarily used for pain management, disrupting pain perception pathways and stimulating acupuncture points for body-wide relief.
- Therapeutic Ultrasound: Used to break down scar tissue, increase muscle elasticity, aid healing, increase circulation, and reduce pain and spasm, particularly beneficial for tendon and muscle injuries.
- Pain Management: Implementing various modalities and strategies to alleviate chronic and acute pain, improving the pet's comfort and quality of life.
- Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: Developing detailed therapy plans to facilitate quicker and better recovery after orthopedic or neurological surgeries (e.g., FHO surgery, herniated disc repair).
- Neurological Rehabilitation: Specialized programs for pets with conditions like herniated discs, paralysis, and other neurological deficits, focusing on regaining motor function and independence.
- Conditioning and Fitness Programs: Designed to improve overall fitness, endurance, and muscle tone for athletic pets, working dogs, or those needing weight management.
- Weight Management Programs: Integrating exercise and activity plans to help pets achieve and maintain a healthy weight, which is crucial for joint health and overall well-being.
- Home Exercise Programs: Providing pet owners with clear instructions and guidance on exercises and activities to perform at home to support and enhance the in-clinic therapy.

Indy Pet Core Reviews
My appointment with Indy Pet CORE started with a basic muscular/injury exam of my Aussie who had FHO surgery two weeks prior. Dr. Cantrell got on the floor with Murphy to help him feel more comfortable. I got a thorough run down of his 'status', all of my questions were answered. The next step was a run down of the therapy plan that was put together. We discussed what would happen in therapy and what I was to do at home to facilitate a quicker, better recovery. Murphy is on his 5th appointment and Kaylee is a miracle worker. She able to get my dog, who is terrified of water, comfortable with water therapy by session two. He gets in the tank by himself now with no treat incentive. I have noticed a considerable improvement in his leg since we started. I highly recommend using Indy Pet CORE should you ever find yourself in need of pet physical therapy. Thank to the entire staff, but particularly to Kaylee who has made all the difference in the world.
Mar 14, 2025 · Marlo NeustifterThis boy was completely paralyzed in the rear and completely incontinent of bowel and bladder from a herniated disc. All the of their therapy modalities had him up and walking again, without his wheelchair in just a few months and he is using the bathroom appropriately!! He still goes in twice a month for “tune-ups” and he’s doing great!! Love this place! Friendly staff and they email you updates of their sessions almost immediately that day!
May 04, 2021 · Cheryl MeekWe had a great experience with the therapist team who helped my senior dog with arthritis get rid of her limping and build up her strength. My dog is a chihuahua who naturally is very hesitant with new people but her therapists were extremely patient with her and made her feel so comfortable. I always trusted leaving her with them because you can tell they really love what they do. The doctor is also extremely knowledgeable and passionate.
Nov 12, 2024 · Tiffany CastillejaI would highly recommend Indy Pet CORE to anyone with a pet needing therapy. We started here about a year ago after my dog had an amputation and needed a little extra help. Ashlee, Brie and Megan were absolutely amazing with our dog and got her to do things even I couldn’t. She was always so excited to go to therapy and I could tell she really trusted them. She made great improvements with her strength and balance while there and we are so glad we had such a great therapy center close to us. They are all amazing at what they do!
Aug 11, 2020 · Emily DevonIn January 2024, My Dog, Dodo, was barely able to walk without extra handles to provide support or to put it better looking like the metal aliens from Fifth Element. I took her to my Family Vet, where she was diagnosed with a torn PCL and Hip Dysplasia in the same leg. Due to a variety of reasons surgery was not the first option I wanted to pursue. After talking with my Family Vet about my concerns, they recommended potentially trying Physical Therapy first and suggested setting up an appointment with Indy Pet Core. My only goal was to improve her quality of life so the drive to get there was/is worth it.I am absolutely blown away. In over 10 months she is back to 90 to 95% of her quality of life. She has gone from twice a week to once a month and has even lost some weight. She has started to run after her toys, rolling on her back being adorable, down to one pain med for her arthritis, and pulling me out of my front door for her morning walk. I went from the realization that she will need surgery, a dog cart (wheelchair) soon, and needing to make my house accessible to enjoying her cheeky personality and the need for surgery no longer being a thought. For a dog who is particular regarding her vets, she loves everyone at Indy Pet Core, getting excited as we pull into the parking lot and she looks forward to going to PT each month as her special treat.I am eternally grateful to Indy Pet Core for everything they have done and would recommend them to anyone needing PT for their pets.
