The **Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond** provides a comprehensive array of services that blend conventional veterinary medicine with holistic and alternative therapies. Their integrated approach ensures that pets receive a wide spectrum of care options. Key services include:
- **Acupuncture:** A core offering, frequently praised by clients for improving mobility, reducing pain, and enhancing the quality of life, especially for senior pets or those with chronic conditions. This involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing and well-being.
- **Nutritional Counseling:** A strong emphasis on diet, including guidance on feeding wholesome, real food, and supporting options like raw diets. They help pet owners understand how nutrition impacts overall health and can manage various conditions.
- **Herbal Medicine:** Utilizing botanical remedies to support various body systems, manage pain, reduce inflammation, and address chronic health issues, often in conjunction with conventional treatments.
- **Supplementation Guidance:** Recommending appropriate vitamins, minerals, and other supplements to support specific health needs, bolster the immune system, and promote long-term vitality.
- **Preventative Care & Wellness Exams:** Providing comprehensive annual check-ups that consider the pet's entire lifestyle and health history, often with a balanced approach to vaccinations, avoiding "over vaccinat."
- **Traditional Veterinary Diagnostics:** Utilizing conventional diagnostic tools such as X-rays, blood work, and other laboratory tests to accurately diagnose medical conditions when necessary.
- **Pain Management:** A multi-modal approach to managing both acute and chronic pain, integrating techniques like acupuncture, supplements, and appropriate medications to ensure pet comfort.
- **Geriatric Care:** Tailored programs for senior pets, focusing on maintaining mobility, cognitive function, and overall comfort during their later years.
- **Support for Chronic Conditions:** Offering alternative and complementary therapies for pets suffering from long-term illnesses, aiming to improve their quality of life and manage symptoms effectively.
- **Individualized Treatment Plans:** Creating bespoke health strategies for each pet, considering their unique constitution, lifestyle, and health challenges, as opposed to a one-size-fits-all approach.

They demonstrate immense patience, especially when navigating sensitive situations like a senior pet's declining mobility or end-of-life care, making pet owners feel fully supported.

Integrative Veterinary Center of Richmond Reviews
I brought my senior dog to IVC to try acupuncture on him due to his aging, slowing down, losing mobility. Dr. Angus and her staff have been so kind, patient and helpful as we navigate Bandits last chapter. With acupuncture, guidance and supplements I feel confident we are giving him his best life.
Jun 26, 2025 · Denise PayneIt's the best feeling to have veterinarians and staff that fully support the most healthy practices for care of your pet. I don't have to explain why or even argue about why we don't over vaccinate or load our dogs with chemical products and why we feed wholesome real food including raw. Dr. Meghan Dayton Milford is incredibly knowledgeable and caring and provides the full range of options (traditional & integrative) for all of our dogs' needs. All of the staff are kind and super competent. End result - incredibly healthy happy dogs and an owner who loves to visit the clinic.
Jun 12, 2025 · E. FreemanUPDATE: from 1 star to 5!! And honestly would give 10 if I could!!I decided I really wanted to try again as this practice continued to feel more aligned with my kind of medical care. So I did. I got to another receptionist and scheduled a call. I went in and my Lunabean felt so much different in their practice. He was calm and not wanting to kill everyone in sight!! It was such a VAST difference!I’ve been going to IVC for over a year now and I am CONTINUALLY impressed!! They are so responsive to my emails and requests! They continue to call me back and go out of their way to ensure amazing customer experience!! And let me just say…this cat has been a bit of a terror. I have reached out dozens of times over the year to get this boy managed and cared for and Dr. Lord and all the staff, Grace, Rose, Emily and every other person I’ve spoke to have absolutely been exceptional!! I am SO glad I took the risk and went back!!I’m not sure if they have new staff, but who cares. I can get past a snarky person to get to the rest of the practice!!———-Initial review—I called the office to gather details of the practice to see if they were in alignment more with my personal medical values. While they might be, the person who answered my Questions was not. She was barely friendly, and as if a new furry patient would be a hinderance to the practice. I’ll stick with my current vet who goes above and beyond, even if they are “traditional” vets.
Jul 04, 2025 · Elise RenzettiEveryone here is really caring and considerate. They helped me with some issues my dog Theo was having--and they even discovered a vitamin D deficiency. I really like how they combine both Eastern and Western medicine. Definitely check them out if you're looking for acupuncture! (Emily Kennedy)
Jun 18, 2025 · Emily Connor FortCan’t say enough positive things about IVC and Dr. Angus. The staff is always patient with my girl, understanding of my concerns, they take their time, and always provide the best care! Thank you for everything you do to support us and our beloved pets.
