For pet owners in Texas, particularly in the sprawling DFW area, the choice of a veterinarian is a key factor in ensuring a pet's long-term health and happiness. John L. Calhoun, DVM, and the team at North Carrollton Veterinary Hospital offer a compelling set of reasons why they are a top choice. The primary and most powerful reason is the reputation for being "knowledgeable, honest, and overall the best choice for veterinary services in the DFW area," as a client review stated. This speaks directly to the core of what pet owners are looking for: a professional they can trust completely with their animal's well-being. Dr. Calhoun's decades of experience and specialized interests in complex fields like cardiology and endocrinology provide a level of medical expertise that can be invaluable when facing difficult diagnoses.

The inclusion of services like behavior consultations and grooming also highlights a commitment to the overall well-being of the animal, not just their physical health. This holistic approach is a significant advantage. The clinic's commitment to transparency, particularly in discussing treatment options and costs, as highlighted in a review about a difficult cancer diagnosis, is a testament to their ethical practice. May 05 · Ryan BadiiFound North Carrollton Vet Hospital on Google after my dog (12 yrs old) began sneezing blood. Unable to book with Dr Calhoun but helped by Dr. Beitel, who was phenomenal in her delivery/explanation of the issue (cancer), location, prognosis, and depth of challenge known at the time (spreading fast or slow). The team within this office took a collaborative and proactive effort to assist us in understanding our options and costs associated with each option, even when the service would be performed by another provider/facility unrelated to NCVH (they called on our behalf). Their efforts helped communicate the issue to another specialist, lowering the timeline needed for “interpretation” and allowing the next provider to get to work fast. Unfortunately, our pup, like so many others, has a carcinoma that is inoperable due to location/risk but we can’t thank NCVH and Dr Beitel enough for helping us lower costs while better understanding what our dog is going through. One of the hardest things we’ve encountered over the decades of pet ownership is the thousand upon thousands of dollars one can spend in pursuit of (1) understanding the issue and (2) finding a solution and (3) making a decision on whether we can afford the solution relative to other factors (like age and general health). We’ve gone in debt before to save my first dog and after $8k + interest (immediately post college and I’m not rich/no family help) and multiple surgeries/recoveries, he did not make it. Heartbreaking and financially painful as well. NCVH indirectly stopped us from going down this path again via knowledge of common issues, focused testing to eliminate diagnoses, and their experience/network with pet specialists to help find best cost on treatment. Thank you, NCVH.

January 09 · Bxdn LftdWe have been clients of the North Carrollton Vet Hospital since 1990. All our dogs have received excellent care in a caring environment. Follow up on issues with our pets has been very good as we receive a call to check on how our animals are doing once they are home. In addition, the doctors and the staff do a good job of providing cost effective treatments and options. In addition to vet needs, we have used them for day care, grooming and boarding and have been pleased with the results.
