Journey's End Introduce
For pet owners throughout New Hampshire, the bond shared with a beloved animal companion is profound and irreplaceable. As our cherished pets age or face serious illness, the eventual decision of saying goodbye becomes one of the most agonizing yet loving choices we can make. In these most tender and difficult moments, having a compassionate, understanding, and skilled professional to guide you and your pet is invaluable. Here in Merrimack, NH, and serving much of New Hampshire, local families have found such a guiding light in Dr. Sernik, through her specialized service, Journey's End.
Journey's End is not a traditional veterinary clinic for routine check-ups; instead, it is a dedicated service focused on providing peaceful, dignified, and compassionate at-home end-of-life care for pets. Dr. Sernik understands that the familiar environment of your home, surrounded by loved ones, can make an immeasurable difference during a pet's final moments. Her approach is rooted in profound empathy, ensuring that both the animal and the grieving family receive the utmost care and support. For New Hampshire residents facing this heartbreaking decision, Journey's End offers a unique and invaluable service that transforms a difficult goodbye into an "incredible act of love."
Journey's End operates from Merrimack, NH, with its primary contact address listed as Box 1691, Merrimack, NH 03054, USA. This indicates that while the business has a central mailing address in Merrimack, Dr. Sernik's service is primarily mobile, bringing compassionate end-of-life care directly to your doorstep. This mobile nature is a critical aspect of its accessibility and suitability for New Hampshire pet owners.
Dr. Sernik's willingness to travel allows her to serve a broad area, covering New Hampshire and even parts of North Central Massachusetts. This expansive service area means that pet owners across various towns, from Nashua and Amherst to more remote parts of the state, can access her specialized care without the added stress of transporting an ailing or anxious pet to a clinic. The ability to have a veterinarian come to your home for such a sensitive procedure eliminates the anxiety and discomfort that a vet office visit can often entail for a pet, allowing them to pass peacefully in their most familiar and loving environment. While her contact information includes a mobile phone number (+1 603-420-8074), indicating direct communication, it's noted that return calls might come from a Florida cell phone number, and clients are encouraged to be patient but persistent, as Dr. Sernik may be with other families or at an area veterinary hospital. This direct, personalized service, despite the potential for slight delays due to her mobile nature, is precisely why her service is so valued by those in the New Hampshire community seeking a peaceful farewell for their beloved companions.
Journey's End specializes in providing compassionate at-home end-of-life care, focusing on ensuring a peaceful and dignified transition for pets and supportive guidance for their grieving families. While not a comprehensive general practice, its services are highly specialized and deeply empathetic. The core services offered include:

- Sedation for comfort: Ensuring the pet is relaxed and pain-free before the final injection.
- Humane Euthanasia: Administered gently and respectfully, allowing pets to pass peacefully.
- Biohazard Disposal: Proper disposal of medical materials.
- Palliative and Quality of Life Consultations: Though not always explicitly listed as separate services on review platforms, the depth of conversation and understanding Dr. Sernik engages in with families ("She truly wanted to know about what Bella enjoyed (food, HA) and what her life was like") suggests she assesses quality of life and offers guidance on managing comfort before the final decision.
- Post-Euthanasia Aftercare Options: Journey's End facilitates arrangements for the pet's remains, including:
- Communal Cremation (ashes not returned)
- Private Cremation (ashes returned to the family in an urn)

This avoids the anxiety of a car ride or clinic visit during their final moments.
- Unrushed and Patient Approach: Dr. Sernik provides "all the time we needed and at our pace." Clients emphasize that there was "zero pressure, no rushing," allowing families to fully grieve and say their goodbyes without feeling hurried. These personalized tributes provide lasting comfort.
- Dedication to Dignity and Comfort: Dr. Sernik ensures the pet's "dignity" is maintained throughout the process, even bringing "lots of yummy treats" to make the experience as comfortable as possible for the animal. The focus is on a gentle and peaceful transition.

Journey's End Reviews
Dr Sernik was incredibly compassionate and caring end-of-life provider for our beloved 14-year old yellow lab Bella. I anguished over this decision after having lost our 12-year old Vizsla, Lacie just the previous week to cancer. Dr Sernik was so loving and kind in all aspects of her care of Bella as well as her compassion for all of us. She truly wanted to know about what Bella enjoyed (food, HA) and what her life was like. Our whole family and extended family were there to wish Bella safe passage and Dr Sernik made the whole thing feel like an incredible act of love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving Bella her dignity (and lots of yummy treats) in the end. No detail was missed in her loving care. Please don’t hesitate to call Journey’s End when that time comes for your best (pet) friend.
Jun 13, 2025 · Jennifer SummersSadly we lost a very special guy today. It’s so hard to have to say goodbye to a 4-legged family member. One of the hardest goodbyes, as far as I’m concerned. Banner was the 6th dog within my immediate family, that Dr. Sernik has helped us with, crossing over to rainbow bridge!I cannot express through words how amazing she is. Sometimes in careers, we can become desensitized a bit however this is never the case for her!! Dr. Sernik has such an unbelievable calming way about her. She is so compassionate and kind. She relates to families and connects with stories of her own rescue pets, past & present! We feel so fortunate she was able to help us once again in the privacy of our own home. Stress free and where family members and all the other pets of our home could be present once he crossed over to rainbow bridge, then having the chance to say goodbye. There was zero pressure, no rushing just all the time we needed and at our pace. She gave us a beautiful memory book, she molded Banner’s Frito toes for us in a framed memory box. She also gave us enough stamped paper paw prints so we could give them to the extended littles in the family, that didn’t get the chance to say goodbye. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU Dr. Sernik, thank you for your compassion, time, experience and most especially.. your LOVE of dogs. Run free Banner boy!
Jan 13, 2025 · Marley O'BrienDr. Sernik gave our family the most peaceful goodbye I could have ever hoped for to our beloved Molly.Molly was at ease the whole time and I’m so comforted to know that her last moments of consciousness were being loved on by my daughters; who have had Molly their entire lives.I could not recommend Journey’s end services more.
Dec 13, 2024 · Alexander GrandpreyDr Sernik helped us out on short notice when our 12 yr old lab/pit mix Amy developed fluid around her heart and heart failure. The ER vet said likely from cancer and didn’t have long to live, days maybe. My husband was vehement that he wanted her to go at home to tried to find someone who could come same day. After 3 other docs couldn’t come either due to schedule or don’t service our area, Dr Sernik agreed to come. She was wonderful, compassionate, caring and supportive of Amy and us. She explained everything well and took her time (which would not have been the case at the vet hospital). Amy got the quiet ending she deserved. Thank you.
Jun 11, 2024 · Kathryn LowDr. Sernik is a god send! Losing a pet is never easy but it was so peaceful and stress free. The most dignified way for our sweet boy to leave us. Highly recommend at home euthanasia with Dr. Sernik over a visit to the vets office. We would both like to thank her for her wonderful service and treating our little man with such kindness in his last moments ❤️ God bless you!
