Lone Star Park Equine Hospital exhibits several significant features and highlights, as well as areas noted for improvement by clients, providing a comprehensive picture for Texas horse owners:
- Advanced Medical and Surgical Capabilities: The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, including advanced digital radiography and endoscopy, and boasts a surgeon with over 35 years of experience. This allows them to handle complex cases, including emergency surgeries like colic operations and intricate orthopedic and soft tissue procedures.
- 24-Hour Emergency Care: The availability of 24-hour emergency services, with constant staffing, is a critical highlight, ensuring immediate attention for critically ill or injured horses. This readiness can be life-saving for equine patients.
- Expert and Dedicated Staff: Many clients praise the "amazing" individuals who work there, particularly highlighting their role in saving horses in critical situations. Testimonials express gratitude for their efforts in saving horses from emergency surgery and severe lung issues, underscoring the team's skill and dedication.
- Specialized Equine Focus: As an equine-only hospital, they provide an environment and expertise specifically tailored to horses, which can lead to more nuanced diagnoses and treatments compared to mixed-animal practices. This focus extends to specialized areas like sports medicine and regenerative therapies.
- On-Site Viewing for Owners: The provision of viewing windows for owners to observe surgeries is a unique and thoughtful feature, fostering transparency and allowing owners to feel more connected to their horse's care during critical procedures.
However, it is important to acknowledge that the hospital also faces challenges, particularly concerning communication and transparency:
- Communication Issues: A significant concern raised by a client points to "horrible communication." This includes extremely limited information about care and treatment plans before and during a horse's stay, and a lack of follow-up on inquiries. This can lead to considerable stress and frustration for owners who are anxious about their horse's condition.
- Pricing Transparency: The same review mentions being "charged for more than what was disclosed," indicating potential issues with clear pricing upfront and billing practices. This lack of financial transparency can erode trust and cause unexpected financial burdens for clients.
- Mixed Client Experiences: While some clients have overwhelmingly positive, even life-saving, experiences, others report significant dissatisfaction, particularly with administrative aspects and communication, suggesting inconsistency in service delivery or client experience.

Lone Star Park Equine Hospital Reviews
My horse stayed for 2 days while getting incisors removed due to EORTH. I have never known such horrible communication. I called numerous times about my horse’s care and treatment plan before and during his stay. The information they provided me was extremely limited, and then was charged for more than what was disclosed. I do not recommend this place.
Jul 15, 2024 · Hanna HartThey are an amazing equine hospital. They save Several of my horses. They saved my Andalusian stallion with an emergency surgery and my mini horse who was very sick with lung issues. The individual that work there are amazing. Thank you for all you do for the equine you help.
Jun 14, 2024 · Stacey ThomasThey have helped me with so many equine emergencies and they are always honest in what to expect and if it was their horse what they would do.I can’t say enough how much I love these guys and their work.
Jul 19, 2024 · AllStar MFRavoid this vet like the plague. i recently was informed that an amazing, gorgeous horse that was leased to to him and jordan Gilchrist's customer many years ago was over showed by them every weekend, despite being begged to show him reasonably. our pleading throughout this contract to not abuse him was very obviously ignored. no horse can take the amount of showing that they put this horse through weekend after weekend, hunter jumper event after hunter jumper event. regardless, they knowingly carried on.... they then proceeded to use illegal blocks to send him back to us so that he appeared sound for 5-6 days and passed our vet's inspection. he was completely crippled and purposely so. the illegal blocking ensured that he appeared sound on his return home after a 1 year lease so that there was no legal recourse against their sick actions. i am not a vindictive person, but this horse meant the world to me and i had to ensure this was posted so that any horses leased out to david and jordan Gilchrist are not at risk for being completely crippled by them overshowing to their heart's content. thank you david and jordan for ensuring that you used every ounce of this horse until there was nothing left. round of applause for knowing what TX insurance claims would need to take legal recourse on this inhuman action and taking matters into your own hands to make sure that was bent in your favor by giving him illegal blocks to appear sounds on arrival.....looking back, i wish someone had warned us that they clearly could care less about what was best for any horse and then this horse could have gone somewhere where he got what he actually deserved. if you have had good experiences with either of these people, good for you, but forgive me for feeling the need to provide this information so that someone else's child does not lose a perfectly healthy horse and that they do not receive him home completely broken because it was and is excruciating , no amount time will heal that
Dec 12, 2023 · Elizabeth SchooleyAbsolutely wonderful experience! I took my filly there who had a horrific cut on her neck. It was a true emergency and after normal hours. It was an hour and a half drive for us to get there. Dr. David Gilchrist was waiting for us to arrive. He immediately began the lengthy surgery of stitching her neck back together. Once he was done, he asked to keep her there to monitor for infection. She and the mare had to stay for a couple of weeks. The injury dictated after care. Their facility is clean, the staff is amazing and a first class outfit. Dr. Gilchrist even took the time to send me pictures and updates since it was to far for me to drive to see them. Love this equine hospital!
