Lotus Veterinary House Calls Introduce
For pet owners across California, particularly those in the bustling San Francisco Bay Area, finding veterinary care that truly aligns with their values and their pet's unique needs can be a challenging endeavor. Many pets experience stress and anxiety during traditional clinic visits, and for senior animals or those with complex health issues, the journey itself can be a significant burden. This is where a service like Lotus Veterinary House Calls becomes an invaluable resource, offering a compassionate and highly personalized approach to veterinary care right in the comfort of your own home.
Lotus Veterinary House Calls is not a traditional brick-and-mortar clinic; instead, they specialize in bringing top-tier veterinary expertise directly to your doorstep in San Francisco and select areas of the Peninsula. This unique model is specifically designed to reduce stress for pets and their owners, providing an intimate and calm environment for examinations, treatments, and even the most difficult end-of-life decisions. They pride themselves on a blend of Western veterinary medicine with holistic and integrative treatments, offering a comprehensive and tailored approach to animal wellness.
For pet parents in California, especially those with anxious animals, senior pets, or multiple pets, the convenience and comfort of in-home veterinary services can be a game-changer. Lotus Veterinary House Calls is built on a foundation of empathy, professionalism, and responsiveness, ensuring that your beloved companion receives the highest quality of care in their most familiar and secure setting. Their dedication to supporting families through all stages of a pet's life, including heartfelt transitions, has earned them profound gratitude and loyalty from the local community.
While Lotus Veterinary House Calls lists its administrative address at 825 Moultrie St, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA, it's crucial to understand that their primary service delivery is mobile. They operate as a house call veterinary service, meaning their team of veterinarians and assistants travel to your home or preferred location within their service area. This model fundamentally redefines "accessibility" by bringing the care directly to the client, rather than requiring the client to travel to a physical clinic.
Their service areas primarily include San Francisco, Daly City, South San Francisco, Colma, Brisbane, San Bruno, Pacifica, and Millbrae for initial and existing patients. For established patients, they also extend to areas on the Peninsula like San Mateo, Burlingame, Foster City, San Carlos, Belmont & Redwood Shores, and Redwood City. This extensive mobile coverage means that a wide range of pet owners in the greater San Francisco Bay Area can benefit from their convenient, in-home veterinary services, eliminating the stress and logistical challenges often associated with traditional clinic visits, especially for pets who do not travel well or have mobility issues. They do not have a physical clinic facility for walk-ins; all services are by appointment at your location.
Lotus Veterinary House Calls provides a comprehensive range of veterinary services, uniquely delivered in the comfort and familiarity of your pet's home environment. They emphasize an integrative approach, blending traditional Western medicine with holistic therapies. Their services include:
- Comprehensive Physical Exams: Thorough wellness check-ups performed in a stress-free environment, allowing for a more accurate assessment of your pet's health.
- Preventative Care & Vaccinations: Tailored vaccination protocols and preventative medicine to protect against common diseases and maintain long-term health.
- Diagnostics: In-home collection of samples for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal testing. For diagnostics requiring advanced equipment like X-rays or ultrasounds, they coordinate arrangements with partner clinics or specialists. They do offer ultrasound services performed by a board-certified radiologist at a subsequent appointment if recommended.
- Acupuncture: Offering this traditional Chinese veterinary medicine technique to support energy flow and physical well-being, particularly beneficial for senior pets or those with pain, neurological issues, or chronic conditions.
- Chinese Herbal Medicine: Prescription of custom herbal formulations to complement acupuncture and address specific health concerns from a holistic perspective.
- Cold Laser Therapy (Low Level Laser Therapy): Utilizing this state-of-the-art technology to reduce pain and inflammation and promote healing at a cellular level, effective for arthritis, back pain, skin problems, and more.
- Ozone Therapy: A therapy aimed at decreasing inflammation and activating the immune system through increased oxygen delivery.
- Nutrition and Food Therapy Counseling: Guidance on home-cooked meals and appropriate diets, including a Chinese Medicine approach to nutrition, to support healing and overall wellness.
- Hospice Care: Providing compassionate integrative supportive care focused on pain and discomfort relief to ensure the best possible quality of life for pets facing terminal illness.
- Compassionate In-Home Euthanasia: Offering a peaceful and painless transition for pets in their familiar home environment, with exceptional support and space for families during this incredibly difficult time.
- Other Prescriptions: Prescribing necessary medications, diets, or nutritional supplements as needed, with convenient online ordering through partners like Vetcove.
It is important to note that they do not offer dental cleanings, surgeries (other than potentially minor procedures at home if feasible), or X-ray capability directly in the home. They also do not provide weekend veterinary appointments or emergency services, advising clients to visit a 24-hour emergency hospital for critical conditions.
Lotus Veterinary House Calls is distinguished by several outstanding features and highlights, as consistently praised by grateful clients:
- Unparalleled Compassion and Empathy: Reviewers repeatedly highlight the "incredibly compassionate and thoughtful care" provided by the entire team, including Dr. Seth, Dr. Rachael, Dr. Jenny, Susan, Debra, and Torey. This is particularly evident during sensitive moments like euthanasia, where they offer thorough explanations, space, and dignity.
- Stress-Free Environment for Pets: The fundamental advantage of house calls means pets, especially those who are anxious, senior, or have mobility issues, can receive care in their familiar home environment, greatly reducing stress. This allows for a more accurate assessment and a calmer experience for the animal.
- Holistic and Integrative Approach: Clients deeply appreciate their openness to and expertise in holistic methods, including acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and food therapy. This allows for a more personalized and comprehensive treatment plan that aligns with diverse pet owner values.
- Exceptional Communication and Responsiveness: The team, particularly Dr. Seth and the administrative staff like Debra and Torey, are praised for being "incredibly responsive," "always quick to respond to our many emails with patience and clarity," and "answering all my questions whenever I had them."
- Personalized and Present Care: The in-home visits create an "intimate experience" where visits are "one on one," allowing pet owners to be "completely present" with their pet during examinations and treatments. This level of personalized attention is often lacking in traditional clinic settings.
- Dignified End-of-Life Support: Their approach to in-home euthanasia is consistently described as "peaceful and full of love," allowing pets to transition comfortably in their own homes, surrounded by their families. This "gift" provides immense comfort during a heartbreaking time.
- Professionalism and Expertise: Despite the personal approach, the doctors and assistants are consistently described as "professional, kind, and communicative," demonstrating high levels of skill and knowledge in their veterinary practice.

Lotus Veterinary House Calls Reviews
We couldn’t have been happier with choosing Lotus Vet House Calls. Our 14-year-old Maestro was living with seizures, an enlarged heart, a collapsed trachea, and CCD. He never liked going to the vet, so we made the decision to bring the vet to him — and we’re so grateful that we did. From the very beginning, Debra and Torey were incredibly responsive, answering all our questions and making sure Maestro’s appointments were seamless. Dr. Seth, Dr. Rachael, and Susan provided the most compassionate and thoughtful care. As Maestro’s health began to decline, Dr. Seth was especially kind — always quick to respond to our many emails with patience and clarity. On the day Maestro passed, Dr. Rachael and Susan were everything we needed. Dr. Rachael explained the process so thoroughly and gave us the space and information we needed to make the most loving decision for Maestro. We didn’t want him to keep suffering. The experience, though heartbreaking, was peaceful and full of love. We got to hold our baby, speak to him, and be completely present with him as he transitioned.Thank you, Lotus Vet, for giving us this gift. We will always be grateful.
May 02, 2025 · Tracey PattersonI am so grateful for Lotus Vet! They were treating my senior dog, Carter with acupuncture and for his vestibular issues for a little over a year before he finally transitioned/crossed over to the ancestor realm... this March 2025, just shy of 17 years And they came to the house to put him down - and I am so grateful and took part on the Sound Healing & Music Ceremony I held for my pup in my death doulah practice, right before it was time. He was ready and I was too. And it was magical. Thank you all for being so open and working with my more holistic approach and values for Carter's healing and sharing with me all the herbs and The Chinese Medicine and wellness approach to making home cooked food for his meals and in his final year with me. He lived his best life til the end of his time here and full quality with your support. AND THANK YOU to Dr. Rachel for your care and expertise, and especially to Dr. Jenny and assistant Susan - who we worked with the most. And also answering all my questions whenever i had them. Acupuncture really supported his energy flow and physical well-being. Your kindness and love shines bright. Thank you for your work. And I know, Carter, now as my Spirit Animal thanks you too!
May 18, 2025 · Christine FerrerThe very best vet I have ever had. Dr. Rachel is amazing. Can't express how much I love them. They get back to you right away. The staff is amazing. Having your dog get exact care at home is a game changer. Worth every penny.
Jul 02, 2025 · Nano CupWe have been using Lotus Veterinary House Calls for years now. The ease of having a vet come into your own home is so fantastic. No stress, no fuss. The service is great but what really distinguishes Lotus is the fact that their Doctors and support staff are the kindest, most patient and all over amazing human beings. They hold you and your furry/purry family members in a gentle embrace while being knowledgeable, non-judgemental, thorough and efficient. They work with you rather than dictating to you. Don't even get me started on some of the horrendous vet experiences we have had to endure here in San Francisco...but never once with Lotus. Unfortunately we have had to have three cats put to sleep at the end of their lives during our time with Lotus and I can't rave enough about both Dr Seth and Dr Jenny. I truly consider them both members of our extended family. Don't let the cost put you off, at the end of the day it's actually not that much more and so worth every.single.penny! Stop googling options - you've found the perfect solution right here.
Feb 09, 2024 · Wilma GoodyearMy partner, Padraig, and I love using Lotus/Seth for our cats! One of our cats is very shy, making the house calls much more comfortable for him. Seth and his assistant have a very calm demeanor that helps them feel more comfortable.
