★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After our dog, Benji, had a traumatic injury, the MedVet team was wonderful from the second we walked through the door. From taking time to explain options in detail, answering questions between visits, the skilled care, and even decorating his bandages at weekly visits so he looks snazzy during recovery. We hope Benji never needs care at this level ever again, but MedVet made the experience so much better than it could have been.
June 24 · Amanda HenchcliffeI lost my cat Miumiu at MedVet Mountain View in March 2025. She was brought in after vomiting and suspected obstruction. She was stable and alert.Based on the ultrasound results, the hospital informed me that the severe fluid accumulation in her stomach necessitated surgical treatment. Although I discussed multiple conservative treatment options with the doctors, they were all dismissed, with the attending stating that surgery was the only viable choice. Trusting their judgment, I left the hospital and specifically instructed that I wanted to be called before the surgery began. That call never came. The only call I received was to tell me she had died.Pre-op ultrasound showed her stomach was distended with fluid — a clear aspiration risk. But no stomach decompression or airway protection (like an NG tube) was done before anesthesia. She regurgitated during induction, aspirated, went into cardiac arrest, and died. When I asked her attending doctor why nothing was done to address the risk, she said:“We’ve tried that in some cats before — it’s too challenging and didn’t work well. So we don’t do it.”I asked if this was the hospital’s standard practice. She replied:“Yes, this is how our hospital does it.”The most painful part? I later learned the doctor had published research on how to accurately confirm NG tube placement in dogs — an important step to prevent aspiration. The knowledge was there. The risk was known. The tools were available. And yet none of it was used for Miumiu.Miumiu was more than a pet — she was my family. She trusted me to protect her. I trusted them to do the same. Instead, I lost her without even a chance to say goodbye.I’m writing this not to assign blame, but to raise awareness — because silence enables repetition. No animal should suffer or die from preventable inaction.
July 10 · Shuo J.Everyone was sympathetic, very kind and very helpful in dealing with our somewhat tame but still feral cat. We received excellent advice on how to care for her in the future, what to look out for, and thank you especially Dr. Jacobson for calling in the middle of the night no worries that’s OK. We wanted to know! Patches is back at her little house and seems to have completely forgiven or forgotten her traumatic vet visit!
August 28 · Linda Cantwell-LumBrought my Chihuahua into MedVet urgent care after he was attacked and bitten multiple times by two other dogs. The team of technicians and Dr. Passer showed a lot of empathy for us. The wait times were reasonable and every step of his care was clearly explained to us. I would recommend MedVet for urgent care when needed. My dog already has a primary care physician at another clinic.
July 26 · Ted ChuI'm glad there has been a lot of positive experiences at this hospital. Now that my cat is gone I wanted to share a bit of my story here from about 2 years ago.My cat likely had lymphoma according to x ray and was forwarded here. I paid approximately 12k for the procedure. I was already over my pet insurance limit of 10k for that year due to her repeated visits pre scoped biopsy (get unlimited pet insurance if you can afford it).Her operation went fine. The surgeon did a great job, however they forgot to send the sample to the lab for an entire month. She ended up cancer positive for which treatment could have started immediately. So I struggled with a tremendous amount of grief. Questioning the lab result from the sample hanging around for that long, wondering what the delay would do to her potential lifespan. I was still grieving from losing another cat to cancer just a few months prior. They refunded me a few hundred dollars to cover the lab tests. Needless to say I felt betrayed. These types of mistakes would go with severe lawsuits if it was at a hospital for humans. When I'm putting myself in that level of financial stress to care for my pet this is beyond unacceptable.I ended up immediately going to another hospital for her oncology care. They mentioned the medication prescribed by medvet should not be compounded because the dosage can vary when suspended and a precise dose is extremely important with cancer treatment as you could imagine. In all a very sad situation. I don't mind paying but I don't want to have to question the hospitals practices which is what this experience left me with. The pain of a cancer diagnosis is enough.
