MedVet Norwalk Reviews
my senior cat showed a very fast decline in health on a Sunday night. I rushed him at midnight and the entire staff couldn't have been nicer. The next day was an ultrasound and found he had a cancerous tumor in his abdomen. Again, there were unbelievably caring and helped me navigate first treatment in spite that he was very ill. I called many time in that day when he was declining and the staff was exceptional. I had to rush him the following Wed as he went into distress and he died there. I have never had such caring doctors nurses and staff help me with his passing. This hospital is what a vet hospital should be. Clear, kind, honest, and caring. This is the only place to go in an emergency and beyond. Thank you all for helping me and my Angus
Jun 25, 2025 · Sarah Lee MichaelsI see lots of excellent reviews here and in person my experience was professional and helpful. I brought my senior cat here because he hadn’t been eating for 2 days, and an ultrasound turned up a feline IBD diagnosis. We had discussed the potential routes of treatment such as indefinite steroid therapy, and nausea suppressants/appetite stimulants to help him get some food in for the time being. After the options were weighed out I made the decision that the best option was likely to put my cat on a raw diet (consisting of raw, locally sourced muscle meats, eggs, and organs) as this is an evolutionarily appropriate diet for cats which are obligate carnivores who thrive best on whole animal foods. This idea was encouraged by one of the doctors there who was very kind, helpful, and understanding of the fact that I’d like to try to fix his gut issue by changing the quality of what goes into his gut before putting him on steroids indefinitely (my cat was previously eating canned wet food, and occasionally kibble). As I mentioned earlier they also had recommended a nausea suppressant/appetite stimulant, which I had initially declined in the hopes that he would feel better enough soon to eat his raw diet. The next day he still hadn’t eaten so I decided to call back to pick up the nausea medication, and after being transferred from the front desk to one of the female doctors in the back (I’m unsure of her name) I inquired about the previously mentioned medication because my cat still hadn’t been eating. I was told that it says on the documentation she was looking at that I rejected medication and instead chose to opt for a raw diet (which I did, in an effort to get to the bottom of the issue instead of treat it indefinitely with medication) and that’s where the cordialness of the conversation ended. I was then told that a raw diet is “the opposite of what he needs right now” despite the idea having had been encouraged by a different doctor the previous day, and that my cat wasn’t going to get any better without steroids. I then started to reply by mentioning that a raw diet is what I thought was the healthiest diet for them, and then questioning the claim that feline IBD is incurable by saying that I know online it says it’s incurable but I wanted to try a raw diet because if it’s an autoimmune disease I personally think it’s crap that it’s incurable, which had prompted her to lose it and cut me off to yell 2-3 times that I “didn’t have to be rude” even though the only thing I can see that I said that would make her think I wastrying to be argumentative was the word crap, aka she would’ve had to have ignored what I actually said and only turned her ears on to hear the word crap in order to come to the conclusion that I was being rude. In my opinion it seemed obvious that she had just read the paperwork and saw that I had refused medication in place to try a diet change and thought I must be a conspiracy theorist and chose to be rude because she was under the impression that I didn’t want their help which isn’t true otherwise I obviously wouldn’tve brought him there in the first place. Besides this one interaction my experience was good 👍 it would be dishonest to leave anything besides a 4 star review due to only encountering 1 problematic employee (if it weren’t for her I would rate 5 stars). My overall review of this place aside from the 1 rogue employee is that they’re professional and helpful.
Jul 03, 2025 · WaturDznWords cannot express how wonderful this place is. Thanks to previous reviews, I decided to come here when my sweet boy Oreo wasn't looking too good. From the minute we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming. The staff was gentle with my boy and the doctor was very patient with us, taking his time to thoroughly explain everytime.Unfortunately we had to put my dog down, something we knew might be an option when we took him in.The staff was so compassionate, no judgements as we cried our eyes out. They allowed us to take our time. They made the experience very peaceful and calm. They were the same when we picked up his ashes. This is such a great place with wonderful employees. I can't thank them enough for allowing us to feel some comfort during this hard time.
May 08, 2025 · Lizbeth PolancoStaff were very caring and communicative. They encouraged me to call anytime - day or night if I wanted an update while my dog was admitted into their care and were always available to answer questions. Sent me photos which gave me a bit of relief during such a stressful time. Dr. Miller took her time answering any questions along with all the other doctors that were on during her stay, as well as Diana and Denise at the front desk.
Jun 05, 2025 · michelle alprinMy 12 year old Cammie was seriously sick with vomiting and gastrointestinal issues. When blood began presenting, I went straight to MedVet for the first time because I saw the good reviews and had bad experiences at other emergency vets in the past. The great reviews are true. From reception to the doctor, I knew cammie was in good hands. Everything was handled professionally, efficiently, and with understanding. Cost/options and risk/benefits were honestly discussed and in my opinion cost was extremely reasonable. Dr. Bryant and Mike were fantastic. I was concerned and had some follow up questions after getting home, and Mike was patient with me and answered everything clearly and gave me direction over the phone.Although still recovering, Cammie was back to her normal self within 24 hours. 100% recommend and have already recommended to friends. Thank you, MedVet. I feel more comfortable knowing you guys are close by in case of emergency.
