Mobile Veterinary Specialist Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For pet owners in Austin, Texas, and indeed across the wider state, facing the prospect of their beloved animal companion needing advanced surgical care can be daunting. This is where Mobile Veterinary Specialist steps in, offering a unique and invaluable service that bridges the gap between general veterinary practice and traditional referral specialty hospitals. Founded by Dr. David Allman, a highly respected Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Mobile Veterinary Specialist (MVS) brings board-certified surgical expertise directly to pets and their primary care veterinarians. Unlike conventional specialty clinics where you always travel to their facility, MVS aims to provide state-of-the-art care often in the familiar environment of your pet's regular vet clinic. This innovative model prioritizes comfort for the pet, continuity of care with their trusted primary veterinarian, and often a more affordable alternative to traditional referral centers for complex procedures. Their team, including notable surgeons like Dr. Allman and Dr. Key, specializes in advanced orthopedic, soft tissue, and oncologic surgeries, ensuring pets in Texas receive the highest level of surgical intervention when needed. They are celebrated for their exceptional professionalism, profound compassion, and unwavering dedication to both their patients and their human families, making them a top-tier resource for specialized pet surgery in the Austin area and beyond.
Location and Accessibility
Mobile Veterinary Specialist is located at 3904A Warehouse Row, Austin, TX 78704, USA. This Austin address serves as their operational base, but it's crucial for pet owners in Texas to understand their unique service model regarding location. While they have a physical address, a core aspect of Mobile Veterinary Specialist's accessibility is their ability to bring their surgical expertise to various primary veterinary clinics throughout the Central Texas region. This "mobile" aspect significantly enhances convenience for pet owners, as it can eliminate the need to travel to a new, unfamiliar specialty hospital. Instead, your pet may receive advanced surgical care within the familiar confines of their trusted local vet's office. This reduces stress for pets and logistical challenges for owners. For procedures that require their dedicated facility, the Warehouse Row location in South Austin is generally accessible from major Austin thoroughfares, making it reachable for those in the metropolitan area and even pet owners traveling from other Texas cities, as noted by a client who came from Houston for knee surgery. This dual approach to accessibility – a central base for advanced procedures and a mobile service that partners with local vets – makes Mobile Veterinary Specialist highly convenient and suitable for a wide range of Texan pet owners seeking specialized surgical care.

Jan 22, 2025 · Kristi LeonardIn March, my border collie underwent bilateral TPLO surgery with Dr. Allman. The surgery was lengthy but I was updated constantly along the way. I can’t praise Dr. Allman enough for not only taking on this surgery with only three days notice, but also his professionalism and willingness to answer my questions after hours. I followed the post-op instructions to the letter and I’m happy to say that my girl is now running and playing after 14 weeks. Yes, it was hard to keep her in-active for 12 weeks, but honestly the time goes by very quickly. And, those lick sleeves that were provided were amazing. I left them on for four solid weeks (as my border collie is a licker) and didn’t have to use an e-collar. The team at Comanche Trail Vet Clinic were awesome as well. Thanks to everyone involved, my girl is moving and acting like she did pre-injury.
Jun 09, 2025 · Lynette LawsonStarting June of 2022 my male cat Hammy started having difficulties urinating. I took him to the emergency vet two time thinking he was blocked only to be sent home saying he wasn't and the test came back normal. We were told he has feline idiopathic cystitis, and there is really no known cure or treatment for it. We started him on medication for stress and to relax his bladder as well a a special urinary diet. We ran every test for infections, stones and disease all coming back normal, but he was still straining and crying when trying to urinate. Surgery was the last step for us and boy I wish we would have done it first. In January of 2023 we had the surgery with Dr. Key who runs with Mobile vet. Hammy was going to go in for a PU surgery. The day of we dropped home off at our regular vet. And with in two hours Dr Key call saying hammy was next and to walk through what was going to happen in the surgery. And an hour later he call back that he was finished and everything was a success and went over post-op care. He also left contact information if needed during recovery. I did contacts him once it was a Sunday, he got back to me that day and was able to discuss my concerns.Hammy had done great after the surgery. Recovery was long but that is to be expected the with this surgery. But he has had no urinary issue since and Is completely back to himself.I highly recommend these Doctors. Dr Key from my personal experience, and from seeing Dr Allman preform surgery that the clinic I used to work at.
Sep 13, 2023 · Amber BoschI can’t thank the amazing Dr. Allman & Dr. Key and their wonderful team enough for the time and dedication they put into making sure my little Chihuahua mix Chloe was healthy again! Their empathy, compassion, and understanding was evident from the beginning, and they swiftly created a game plan upon assessing my baby girl’s knee. They were extremely communicative and informative throughout the entire process, even calling me before and after her surgery to explain what will happen and what to expect. They also took the time to respond to any questions and concerns I had as she healed and trust me, as a sometimes paranoid dog mom, I had plenty! I am very grateful that our paths crossed a few months ago and that they were the ones who ultimately took care of Chloe and helped her get better. ❤️ 10/10, would highly recommend this awesome team! (Picture shown is recent; though her hair may still be growing back, she is certainly back to running around on all four legs like nothing ever happened and she is a happy girl!)
