What is worth choosing
Choosing a veterinary clinic is a highly personal decision, and for many pet owners in Vancouver, a long-standing relationship with a particular veterinarian is a key factor. As one customer noted, they have been a client at Orchards Veterinary Clinic for years, a testament to the trust they have in a specific vet, Dr. Atwell. This loyalty underscores the importance of the professional relationships built within the practice. The clinic offers a comprehensive range of services, from annual exams and preventative care to in-house laboratory testing and pet dentistry, providing a one-stop-shop for many pet health needs. The availability of services like laser therapy and an online pharmacy also adds convenience and modern treatment options for pet parents. However, it's also important for potential clients to be aware of the experiences shared by some long-term patrons. One review highlights significant wait times—both on the phone and in person—and a recent incident involving a pet's anxiety and a lack of apology from staff. This feedback suggests that while the medical care provided by veterinarians like Dr. Atwell may be highly valued, there may be challenges with the clinic's operational efficiency and customer service, particularly during busy periods. For new clients, these insights can be helpful in setting expectations regarding scheduling and communication. The clinic's commitment to a broad range of veterinary services, coupled with a focus on compassionate care, is a strong positive. However, prospective clients might also want to weigh the potential for a busy practice environment when making their decision. The choice ultimately comes down to what a pet owner prioritizes: a trusted veterinarian and comprehensive services, or a seamless customer service experience. It is worth noting that a dedicated professional relationship with a doctor can be a powerful reason for a client to remain loyal to a practice, even in the face of logistical challenges.

Orchards Veterinary Clinic: Snowden A Neilan DVM Reviews
Today was the final straw. I've been a client at Orchards vet for years and dealt with phones being busy for 30 or more minutes, being put on hold for more than 30 minutes, waiting up to an hour to see the vet (an hour after my actual appointment time), and waiting more than 30 minutes to get an invoice to check out and pay (pre Covid). All this because I like and trust Dr. Atwell. But today I'm done. I was a few minutes early for an 11 o'clock appointment and had to wait 28 minutes to get her in. The system currently used there is to go in and put your pet in an unoccupied room (pets name is written outside on the room's door) and go back to the car and wait for vet to call. I did so. Vet called and we talked. I was told my pet would be back in the same room waiting and I was to go get her right away. Paperwork was going to take a few minutes and I would be called as I waited in the car with my pet. I went in to get my pet...no pet in the room marked with her name (same room she went in at first). I waited a few minutes...no pet. I tried calling and got a recording telling me to call back. I called for approximately 10 minutes and got a recording each time (10-15 calls or so). While I was standing outside the door trying to get through on the phone, I could hear a pet frantically whining and barking in the adjoining room. Finally got through on the phone and I told them my pet wasn't in the room. I was told she was... She was NOT. A couple of minutes later a tech brought her into the correct room. My pet was frantic - panting with anxiety and fear. I complained and was offered a lame excuse about a door not locking or something. No apology. I told her I wouldn't return there again - even after using them for years. Still no apology.
