Owens Equine Introduce
In the beautiful and sprawling landscape of Washington State, pet owners, particularly those with horses and other large animals, often face unique challenges when it comes to veterinary care. The traditional model of bringing an animal to a clinic may not always be feasible or practical, especially for animals that are stressed by travel or for delicate situations like end-of-life care. Owens Equine, a professional veterinary service based in Issaquah, Washington, addresses this very need by providing high-quality, at-home veterinary care. While their name suggests a specialization in equine medicine, their compassionate and comprehensive services extend to other animals as well, with a strong focus on in-home visits for a more personalized and stress-free experience.
Dr. Owens and her team are dedicated to providing a level of care that is not only medically sound but also deeply empathetic. They understand that a pet is a cherished member of the family, and that certain moments, especially a pet's final ones, should be as peaceful and dignified as possible. The service is highly praised for its compassionate at-home euthanasia, with multiple clients highlighting Dr. Owens's kindness, patience, and reassuring demeanor during a heartbreaking time. She takes the time to explain the process, validate a pet owner's difficult decision, and allow for private grieving, which demonstrates a profound respect for both the animal and the family. This personalized approach sets Owens Equine apart from larger, more impersonal clinics.
The mobile nature of Owens Equine’s practice is a significant benefit for pet owners in the area. It eliminates the stress of transport for the animal, which can be particularly beneficial for horses or for pets that are elderly, sick, or anxious. This also provides an added convenience for owners, who don't have to worry about the logistics of getting their pet to a clinic. The practice's focus on professional home visits ensures that the animal is in a comfortable and familiar environment, which can lead to a more accurate health assessment and a more peaceful experience. For those with horses, the ability to have a vet come directly to the barn for pre-purchase exams, routine care, or emergencies is an invaluable service.
Owens Equine is based at 9506 240th Ave SE, Issaquah, WA 98027, USA. This location places the practice in a key area within King County, allowing them to serve a wide rural and suburban region. While this is their physical address, their primary service model is mobile, which means the vet travels to the client's location. This business model inherently addresses accessibility by bringing the service directly to the pet.
For pet owners in Issaquah, Sammamish, Preston, and other nearby areas, the convenience of a vet who makes home visits is unparalleled. It removes the stress of travel, the challenges of loading a sick or large animal, and the potential for a long wait in a clinic setting. The accessibility is defined not by physical accommodations at a single location, but by the service's very nature—it comes to you. This is particularly beneficial for horse owners who have their animals at farms or boarding facilities. While appointments are recommended to ensure availability, the flexibility of a mobile service is a crucial benefit for those who lead busy lives or have pets that do not handle travel well.
The at-home service model provides a level of comfort and privacy that a clinic cannot match. For sensitive procedures like euthanasia, being in a familiar environment surrounded by loved ones can make the experience less traumatic for both the pet and the family. This focus on the well-being and comfort of all involved is a key aspect of Owens Equine's service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Owens came to do an at-home euthanasia for our old boy and she was excellent. She was very communicative, reassuring that it was the right thing to do for him and understanding, patient and kind through the whole process. We couldn't have asked for a better experience considering the circumstances. Thanks again, Dr.
August 24 · Alysa BumgarnerWe had Dr. Owens come to our home for an at-home euthanasia for our beloved dog. We were heartbroken, but it was clear it was time. I called in the evening, and Dr. Owens came the next day. She greeted our dog and was compassionate as she validated it was time. She explained the process as she was going and made it the smoothest transition possible for our sweet Twix. Dr. Owens went to her car while we grieved privately and said our finals good-byes. I cannot recommend her enough. You can opt for a group cremation or a solo cremation where you get back your pet's ashes along with a ceramic pawprint and ink pawprint. We opted for the latter.
May 18 · Kirsten BourkeDr. Owens performed an at-home euthanasia service for our cat. We could not have asked for better. She was calm, kind, and understanding. She confirmed and reassured us that we were making the right call to ease his suffering, and guided us through the process with candor. The whole process was easy, respectful, and extremely considerate of our both our pet's life and our emotions.I would highly recommend her services.
March 04 · Andrew MendelsohnWe recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our beloved Russian Blue after his battle with cancer. From the start, we knew that an at-home euthanasia was incredibly important to us. He experienced significant anxiety traveling to the vet, and we wanted his final moments to be in his favorite place, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.Late on a Monday night, during the holiday week, his condition suddenly worsened. After hours of phone calls with our vet and more than ten mobile veterinary services, we were repeatedly met with unavailable schedules. Finally, through a series of referrals, we connected with Dr. Sarah Owens.Dr. Owens went above and beyond—completely rearranging her day and rescheduling other appointments to ensure she could come to us as quickly as possible. Her compassion, empathy, and calm presence turned an unimaginably difficult moment into one filled with peace and dignity. She gave us the gift of saying goodbye the way we had hoped: at home, in a familiar and comforting space, with love and care guiding every step.We are deeply grateful for Dr. Owens’ kindness and professionalism. If you are ever in need of this service, I cannot recommend her highly enough.Thank you, Dr. Owens.
January 07 · Eric WintersWe had a home euthanasia with Dr. Owens for our sweet pitbull pup. Luna was diagnosed with lymphoma at 4 years old and progressed fairly quickly. Dr. Owens came to our home and with the upmost kindness and compassion let us stay with our pup on her favorite blanket on our couch while she passed over the rainbow bridge. Her care during this most difficult time allowed us to avoid a traumatizing visit to the vet, and our other dog was able to be present to help with his understanding of losing his little sister. It’s the worst thing in the world to have to say goodbye but Dr. Owens made it the best possible experience.
