For pet owners in South Carolina, the bond we share with our animals is profound. Pet-Vac Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care. Their philosophy is centered on the well-being of the animal, but also on the emotional support of the pet parent. They understand that a pet's illness or injury, especially one that is terminal, is a family matter. The staff, including doctors and technicians, are committed to making a difference by treating each patient and their family with respect, dignity, and a personal touch. This commitment is deeply rooted in the clinic's culture, as highlighted by numerous testimonials from people who have gone through difficult situations with their pets. Their goal is to provide a caring environment where difficult conversations can happen with clarity and compassion, and where informed decisions can be made for the pet's best interest.
One of the most profound aspects of their practice is their ability to guide pet owners through end-of-life decisions. They provide professional and experienced advice, helping families understand their pet's condition and whether they are suffering. As one reviewer candidly shared, the staff "helped us get another few months with our baby girl" but also provided experienced advice that was crucial, noting, "We turned a blind eye and kept our girl longer than we should have." This level of honest and compassionate guidance, even when it is hard to hear, is a rare and invaluable service that speaks volumes about their integrity.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Unfortunately, my family had to put our 14 year old angel to rest. The staff here was of tremendous help and really supported us through this difficult process. They helped us get another few months with our baby girl. Which was selfish of us looking back. If I have any other pets, they will be my vet of choice for sure. Also... listen to them. They will give experienced advice on if your dog is suffering more than they need to. We turned a blind eye and kept our girl longer than we should have.
May 13 · J DI had to bring my boy in bc there was something wrong with him. It wasn't what I wanted to hear and I was an absolute mess. The staff and dr Pennington was amazing!! They were so understanding and explained things so well. They took wonderful care of my sweet Cujo boy!!
June 23 · Nikki WoodardAbout two weeks ago, we were just about to head out for our spring break trip when we noticed our dog, Dice, was extremely sick. Long story short—he had swallowed half a cob of corn, which caused major digestion issues. We rushed him to see Dr. Pettleton, and thank goodness we did.She acted quickly, starting with x-rays and medication, but ultimately had to perform surgery to remove the corn cob. Dice was in bad shape—we honestly thought we were going to lose him. But Dr. Pettleton did an amazing job. Not only did she skillfully remove the cob, but she also took the time to explain every step of the process. She was direct, compassionate, and very thorough. What really stood out is that she gave us several treatment options and helped us understand the pros and cons of each. It wasn’t just a one-size-fits-all approach—she made sure we felt involved and informed.Even after the surgery, the office followed up to check on Dice and see how he was doing. That meant a lot to us.Dice has been coming to this office for the past four years, and I can honestly say the service has gotten so much better with the new doctors—especially Dr. Pettleton. I feel confident bringing him here, and I truly appreciate the care and attention she gave us during a really scary time.10 out of 10—Dr. Pettleton is excellent!
May 08 · S LykesDr. Milligan is amazing with our rabbits!! She is very knowledgeable and personable and really cares about animals. Love her!!
March 20 · Mico Di Arpothis is a long review, but worth the read if you care about your fur baby.No matter what, DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!!after reading the other reviews (post my visit) i’ve concluded that what i experienced seems to be the normal here. The Dr. is so rude, condescending, passive aggressive and dismissive, he has no bed side manner and obviously hates his life and job.my dachshund is terminally ill and she has a health care plan set out for her. we have a regular primary vet but due to unpredictable circumstances we had to book an appointment here for her to be seen. worst mistake.I brought in her records, the Dr enters our room with an eye roll and irritated sigh and begins questioning me about her current medicines, which are all listened on her record (obvious now he didn’t take the time to read up on his patient)long story short he concluded that she has a BRAIN TUMOR BY LOOKING AT HER. saying that is why she fell down the steps when i’m reality she tumbled down the steps because the person holding her fell down the steps. He then attempts an examination by carelessly flipping her and then pinning her by her neck aggressively. i was in such shock i’ve never in my life seen anyone handle an ill/injured animal this way. when she finally yanks her head away he labels her “aggressive”. this 16 yr old dachshund with 11 teeth and injury. He suggest that there’s nothing to done and she must be sedated and then proceeds to suggest “just give her more medicine”. He didn’t know what dosage she was taking bc like i said before he didn’t read her record.we were still charged for the visit although no exam was performed. the front desk women with red hair was kind hearted but maybe bc we caught her on a good day?in conclusion: NO MATTER THE PRICES THEY OFFER, IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL YOU WILL NOT TAKE THEM HERE.
