In West Chester Township, Ohio, Pfister Animal Hospital has served the community since 1993, striving to provide comprehensive veterinary care with a personalized touch. They aim to be a one-stop solution for a wide array of your pet’s needs, from routine wellness to specialized treatments.
Pfister Animal Hospital operates with a unique approach, combining the personalized care of a small hospital with the advanced capabilities of a larger, state-of-the-art facility. This allows them to offer a broad spectrum of services while fostering a familiar and trusting relationship between clients, their pets, and the veterinary team. With over 62% of Ohio households owning pets, the demand for quality, accessible, and comprehensive veterinary services is significant. Pfister Animal Hospital endeavors to meet this demand by prioritizing continuous care, efficient service, and a low-stress environment for all visitors, both human and animal.
Led by Dr. Robert Pfister, a proud 1988 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, and joined by his wife, Dr. Andrea Hurley (1989 Auburn graduate), the hospital has grown into a well-established practice. Dr. Hurley notably oversees the rehabilitation department. The team at Pfister Animal Hospital is composed of seasoned professionals—veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, kennel technicians, and groomers—all chosen for their genuine love of animals and commitment to high-quality care. This collective expertise and passion for pets form the cornerstone of their practice in the Ohio community.
Pfister Animal Hospital is conveniently located at 8040 Cincinnati Dayton Rd, West Chester Township, OH 45069, USA. This prominent address places the facility on a key thoroughfare, making it easily accessible for pet owners throughout West Chester and surrounding areas in Southwestern Ohio. Its location provides straightforward access from nearby communities such as Mason, Liberty Township, Fairfield, Hamilton, and even parts of Cincinnati and Dayton, thanks to its proximity to major routes like Interstate 75 and Interstate 71.
The hospital's design, occupying a 12,000-square-foot space, aims to enhance convenience and minimize stress. They prioritize limiting waiting room time by efficiently moving pets from the waiting area to exam rooms, grooming areas, or boarding facilities. Personalized exam rooms are designed to accommodate families and any special needs of pets or owners. Furthermore, financial transactions are completed directly in the exam room, saving clients the hassle of additional waiting lines. These thoughtful considerations in accessibility and facility design contribute to a more positive experience for Ohio pet families, making their visit as seamless as possible.
Pfister Animal Hospital offers a comprehensive range of full-service veterinary care, aiming to cover nearly all aspects of a pet's health and well-being. Their extensive services include:
Wellness Exams and Preventive Care: Regular check-ups are central to maintaining long-term pet health. These include thorough physical examinations, tailored vaccination plans to protect against prevalent Ohio diseases (e.g., rabies, distemper, leptospirosis), and parasite prevention and control.
Digital Monitoring: For surgical procedures, they use advanced digital monitoring devices such as EKG, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation to ensure the safest anesthetic procedure possible, reflecting their commitment to patient safety.
Digital Veterinary Radiology (X-rays): Utilizing modern digital X-ray technology for rapid and high-resolution imaging, aiding in the diagnosis of skeletal issues, organ abnormalities, and foreign bodies. Images can be quickly sent to specialists for second opinions.
Ultrasound Imaging: Their veterinary ultrasound machine allows for detailed assessment of internal organs (e.g., heart, liver, kidneys) to diagnose diseases, tumors, and other conditions not visible on X-rays. This includes evaluating heart murmurs, although it's important to note that a full cardiac workup by a specialist may be recommended for comprehensive heart disease diagnosis.
Dental Digital Radiology & Dental Care: Advanced digital dental X-rays are used to diagnose dental diseases below the gum line, such as tooth root abscesses, which are often invisible during a standard oral exam. This supports comprehensive dental cleanings, extractions, and other oral health treatments.
Laboratory Pet Diagnostics: Equipped with in-house blood machines and a Tonopen tonometer, they can perform many diagnostics with same-day results, including blood work, urinalysis, and eye pressure measurements for conditions like glaucoma. This provides quicker diagnoses and allows for monitoring of ongoing diseases like diabetes and kidney disease.
Soft Tissue Surgery: Performing various surgical procedures, from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue operations, with a focus on patient comfort and recovery.
Canine Rehabilitation: A key offering overseen by Dr. Andrea Hurley, this service employs various therapeutic exercises and treatments, including a Canine Stance Analyzer (which measures weight distribution to diagnose and track lameness), to expedite recovery from injuries or surgeries and improve overall quality of life.
Grooming: Professional dog and cat grooming services are tailored to individual pet needs, aiming for a stress-free and enjoyable experience.
Boarding: Providing comfortable boarding services for both dogs (spacious canine suites) and cats (feline condos), ensuring pets receive regular exercise, balanced meals, and affection during their stay.
Experienced and Dedicated Team: The hospital boasts a fantastic group of vets and techs, hand-picked for their genuine love of animals and commitment to high-quality care. Clients often feel un-rushed and that their animals receive top-notch care.
Large, State-of-the-Art Facility with Personalized Touch: Operating in a 12,000-square-foot facility with modern technology, they nonetheless pride themselves on maintaining a small hospital's personal touch. This allows clients to establish relationships with specific doctors and technicians, ensuring continuity of care.
Comprehensive "One-Stop Shop" for Pet Needs: From wellness checks, diagnostics, and surgery to boarding, grooming, and specialized canine rehabilitation, Pfister Animal Hospital aims to provide a wide array of services under one roof, enhancing convenience for pet owners in Ohio.
Client-Centric Convenience: Features like minimal wait times, personalized exam rooms, on-the-spot financial transactions in the exam room, and easy online scheduling demonstrate a strong commitment to client satisfaction and a stress-free experience.

Pfister Animal Hospital Reviews
Dr. Pfister has a fantastic group of vets and techs! I don’t ever feel rushed and I feel like my animals get top-notch care every time we walk through those doors! Highly recommend!
Jul 06, 2025 · Rob F.THEY DO NOT HAVE HEART DISEASE TESTS, please don't bring your feline here expecting a FULL work up because it is impossible at this facility. Brought my cat in twice while employed here hoping for answers on her odd behavior, was given 700$ worth of testing and no referrals or true answers. After a single visit at another clinic it shows my cat actually has heart disease and since Pfister Animal Hospital was unable to diagnose it (due to lack of proper testing equipment) my cat has since developed kidney issues. Making her prognosis something I wouldn't wish on anyone. Brittany (receptionist) also hung up on me during my call asking about the testing done on her.
May 13, 2025 · Kirstey BarotOur Lab has been going to Pfister since he was a pup (9years). We have always trusted Pfister with his care. As he is getting older, they are even more attentive to his needs and any concerns that I may have. Very caring staff and doctors. A+
Jun 30, 2025 · Michele CooperDr. Kayla McCarthy is the best! She always takes such good care of our pups! Highly recommend Pfister for all your pet care.
May 09, 2025 · Nicholas HeltonMy dogs were really sick and it was a problem I couldn't fix. When I called them that morning, they weren't even my vet. My vet is always super booked and hard to get into but these people were ready to help. I'm sure saved me a ton of money by not sending me to the emergency vet. They got me in, fixed my girls up. Super friendly and knowledgeable. Because of how that morning went, they weren't my vet then but they are now.
