- P: Comprehensive Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups are fundamental to preventative care, helping to monitor overall health and detect issues early.
- P: Advanced Diagnostics: A significant highlight is their capability in diagnostics, specifically mentioned through the abdominal ultrasound performed on the 17-year-old cat. This suggests they possess or have access to advanced imaging and laboratory services to accurately diagnose complex internal conditions.
- P: Personalized Treatment Plans: Their refusal to recommend unnecessary dental surgery and instead opting for an ultrasound and steroid prescription demonstrates a tailored approach to treatment, focusing on the most appropriate and effective course of action for the individual pet.
- P: Pain Management: Prescribing steroids for inflammation implies a focus on alleviating discomfort and improving the pet's quality of life.
- P: Emergency and Urgent Care (during business hours): While not a 24/7 emergency hospital, they show a strong ability to accommodate urgent cases, as demonstrated by getting a dog with a suspected obstruction in "that day." They also facilitate referrals to dedicated emergency vets when necessary, ensuring continuous care.
- P: Soft Tissue and General Surgery: The referral for emergency obstruction surgery indicates they can diagnose such needs and capably direct clients to specialized surgical facilities. While they might not perform all complex surgeries in-house, they expertly manage the diagnostic and referral process.
- P: Behavioral Support/Handling: The commendation for calming a dog who "hates getting his nails done" suggests a patient and skilled approach to handling anxious or difficult pets during routine procedures.
- P: General Medical Consultations: Addressing various health concerns, providing prescriptions, and ongoing management for chronic conditions like suspected "kitty Crohn's."

Powder Mill Animal Hospital Reviews
Took my 17-year-old cat, who wasn't eating and had lost a lot of weight, here for a second opinion and to see if the rates would be cheaper for a dental surgery that my original, closer vet recommended. Well, Powder Mill said they would NEVER suggest dental surgery. They did an abdominal ultrasound, found inflammation consistent with either kitty Crohn's or cancer, and prescribed him steroids. In the 5 months since then, he has gained back 3lb (he's a big boy), has so much more energy, and his coat is gleaming. I am certain that switching vets to Powder Mill saved my cat's life and will be forever grateful.(Before and after)
Mar 28, 2025 · SydneyWe’ve been going here for about 4 years for our dog and cat. They’re always amazing, especially with our dog - who hates getting his nails done. They’re so good at calming him down. We also had a scare in December where I felt something wasn’t right and they were able to get us in that day. Turned out our dog had an obstruction and needed emergency surgery, so they were able to direct us to the emergency vet and he had his surgery and had been doing amazing since.Recommend them to anyone in the area.
Jun 23, 2025 · Danielle HarnWe have had experience with a number of local veterinary clinics for both feline and canine family members. The Powdermill Animal Hospital team, both veterinarians and technicians, far surpass all our prior experiences. We are grateful for the clinic’s knowledgeable, responsive, empathic team. It is a blessing to be supported by a practice that js not impacted by the commercial multi clinic mindset.
Jul 03, 2025 · S. HashemiWhen we moved from the city it was an adjustment. Our family veterinarian became as trusted as much as our own doctors. So, we were apprehensive to change veterinarian but the drive was just too far. Now, Honestly I would recommend Powder Mill over our old veterinarian of 18 years. The entire staff is amazing. They are attentive, compassionate and I always feel they empathized when things got tough with our older dog. They take care when helping. I've never felt more comfortable entrusting someone with the safety of our beloved animals. Thank you everyone!
Aug 30, 2022 · Abigail BernsteinWe want to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Keiser and the whole PMAH team for supporting us through a very difficult journey of saying goodbye to our beloved girl Seka. Their kindness and compassion made us feel understood and accepted in our grief. We were really fortunate to find and entrust care of our Seka to Dr. Keiser and the whole PMAH team. Thank you!
