★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- The staff at Shelby Animal Clinic are always amazing! They are extremely caring and strive to treat your four legged babies as the family members they are. We have been going there for a long while and they have helped us from new puppy evaluation and shots all the way to helping a sick baby of ours cross the rainbow bridge and they have always been such a caring group of individuals! Although Dr. Z will be missed, her legacy lives on in the fabulous staff and amazing support they give! August 27 · James Ruth
- Dr. Z brought my dog back from the edge of death to a healthy happy 14 year old senior. He is still on meds several months later, but doing much better. I thank her from the bottom of my heart. June 06 · Mary Carmen Johnson
- Originally I gave this place a 5 star review but I took it down. We currently have two dogs one a rescue we have had for about 8 years he is between 10-12 but has always impressed the vets on how he looks and at, because he has so much energy and looks young. The only issue he has always had is bad allergies.Since Florida and Georgia we always made sure to stay on top of his shot for allergies (I am horrible with the name) and he has NEVER gone beyond really bad itching letting us know hey it's time for another shot. He never took ANY other allergy meds to help with his issue Never lost hair never lost energy. He did get a steroid shot sorry but with moving states or high pollen it happened like a handful of times but not every year.We moved here to Pelham and this vet was close and the reviews were mixed but over all the score was good. We took him in and from one! Visit he started to seem different losing hair to the point his hair was not growing back his skin was turning black he was looking old and he had no energy. Mind you they did not request the records from the vets we listed and they did not listen when we said he normally gets shots no pills for his allergies. We went back scared that we were losing him and Dr. Z said the epiquile (spelled wrong sorry) was going to help and that he will be fine. Long story short he didn't get better to the point we all were preparing to lose him with no warning. Mind you he has gotten myself and family through a lot of hard times. We got a Great Dane puppy and decided to take her for a check up to make sure all was good because we really thought he was leaving and we heard puppies help older dogs and we felt it was time. She had no warms but we got prescribed de-warming and she did not seem to comfy which we chalked it up to she is a puppy. We decided to move forward and pay for blood work for him to see what he was so allergic to. He stopped eating and was miserable. When they came back in the room the vile said our other dogs name and when questioned the promised they wrote the wrong name but had taken the right dogs blood. This test plus everything was not cheap they made a lot of money off of us. When it was time to give the shot our female dog cried and wasn't happy. We waiting and couldn't take them not getting back to us with the results we were told would be done in a few days to a week. We called and requested results and had our other two vets from different states send all records to a new vet. We waited and never got them and the new vet had issues but finally got them. The results came back very with nothing but hazelnuts and eggs make No sense! Especially when he has always taken allergy shots and never eating hazelnuts and eggs has never given him issues so they had to have taken the other dogs blood instead of just saying so or drawing new blood to make sure. We wasted a lot of time and it caused him to suffer luckily we car for our pups like children andWe decided to get another opinion and when they got him they saw and didn't judge us for crying. Not only from one visit was he started doing better but his hair is back and he is playing running around and so happy and eating. Our other dog did not cry when getting a shot from them either. The doctor! Calls and checks to make sure the pup is good and the staff is so sweet when you call even if it is a question. Please there is more but DO NOT take your pups here! The front staff seems so sweet and they seem like they want to treat you like family. But you spend hours there and your pups are not getting the best care. Please please please beware! June 03 · The Dracos
- Took my new fur baby to Dr. Z this morning and I definitely will be returning with my other babies! She was thorough and extremely helpful with my questions, most of the time answering them before I could even ask. I can also tell she has so much care for the health and well-being of my pet. Her staff were very sweet and helpful as well! Also bonus points for the cute bandana they put on her before bringing her back into the room. 💜 May 14 · Allie Zajac
- We tried to take our cat here yesterday and it was utter chaos. We had a 4pm appointment and at 430 had to ask what was going on. The poor young lady at the desk said they were behind but they would soon come and get my cat for samples. Samples? Of what? They never met me or the cat. Never asked if anything is wrong, but were going to take my furbaby for samples. As we were talking with the girl at the desk, an elderly lady came out to sit down. She had been there over 2 hours with her cats and was still waiting, just in an exam room. The lady did say the vet was good, but we decided to leave without being seen. Avoid.
