I cannot say enough good things about Spire Canine Orthopedics, Dr. McAbee, and all of the staff at this beautiful facility. After learning that my dog Paisley was diagnosed with partial CCL tears in both legs, I was worried and emotional (started crying in the middle of the appointment,) and Dr. McAbee was nothing but compassionate, respectful and understanding. He explained every step of the TPLO procedure, recovery and prognosis, and performed bilateral TPLO surgery on Paisley in March. The team sent me updates during the surgery, Dr. McAbee called right after and also met with me when I picked Paisley up to explain how the surgery went as well as aftercare. At two weeks, I brought Paisely in for a suture check and Dr. McAbee again met with us to answer questions. We are going into week four post op, and I am so impressed with Paisley's recovery. Her sutures were completely clean and healed and much better looking compared to other TPLO pictures I have seen. She is walking no problem on both back legs. We will have a follow up x ray at 8 weeks.I have been very active with my dog (hiking, backpacking, running) since she was a puppy and I haven't been able to take her for months now because of one misdiagnosis after another. I feel as though Spire Canine Orthopedics has given me back my energetic, happy and athletic dog. I am so hopeful that we will be back in the mountains together soon. I cannot recommend or thank Dr. McAbee and his team enough for being absolutely professional, caring and all together wonderful.
April 07 · Marley MardockMy wife and I brought our American bulldog here in April for her second TPLO surgery and the experience was fantastic right from the start. The office is extremely nice, all of the staff very understanding and caring with how nervous our dog gets in any vet setting, and the procedure itself went extremely well. She actually healed better and more quickly this go-round than her first TPLO on her other leg (done with a different clinic. It healed fine, just a longer process a few years ago). The follow up and communication was great from start to finish, and the overall cost was actually less than we’d prepared ourselves for. We can’t say enough good things about Spire, and we would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary orthopedic clinic. Thank you for everything.
July 06 · Aaron DavisI cannot say enough good things about Spire. From the first interaction with Tina as I desperately sought help for my dog’s horrible pain, to the thorough and reassuring hour long consult with Dr. McAbee, to the surgery day kindness, reassurance post op when I had concerns, and finally to our 8 week post op X-rays I felt like me and my sweet Ginsburg were cared for and valued as more than just income but a human and a dog with feelings. My girl is doing so well and while I hope to never need Spire again, if I do I won’t hesitate to call them even thought they are 90 minutes away from my home. Thank you Team Spire for giving me back my joyful, playful, loving Ginsburg!
July 02 · Robyn SpeirnEverything about Spire Canine Orthopedics is superior to any other vetenary clinic from Dr McAbee and the staff, to the facility and care given to our dog Mateo. Our dog had bilaterial elbow dysplasia surgery and the care and communications from Dr McAbee and the staff was informative & comforting. Mateo recovered quickly from the surgery and was back to himself within a couple of weeks, which was remarkable. We attribute it to the care we got from Spine Canine Orthopedics and Dr McAbee being an amazing surgeon. The charge for Mateo's surgery was reasonable and less than other clinics we received quotes from. They are very responsive whenever I call with questions or concerns about Mateo. They are very accomodating and patient. When Mateo did not want to go into the facilty Dr McAbee examed Mateo in the waiting room while Mateo sat on a chair. The environment at Spire is very calming. I would love to go to the clinic all the time, but I have to say I am glad that I do not have to since that means my dog is doing great. Wish more clinics vet and humans were like Spire. They are the Gold Standard in how to treat a patient and their family. Cannot say enough about Spire Canine Orthopedics. A very satisfied customer.
January 14 · Frankie BenningI’m incredibly grateful for the level of care and expertise my dog, Luna, received and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of a trusted orthopedic specialist for their dog.Luna’s second TPLO surgery was a success thanks to the outstanding care we received from Dr. McAbee and the entire team at Spire Canine Orthopedics. Dr. McAbee is not only a highly experienced leader in the field of canine orthopedics, but also a compassionate and thoughtful surgeon who takes the time to educate pet owners so they can make the best decisions for their dog’s long-term health. His team is exceptional—knowledgeable, communicative, and genuinely invested in their patients.
