The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center at Dublin URGENT CARE specializes in addressing urgent, non-life-threatening conditions, serving as an outpatient facility. While they do not provide general wellness exams, vaccinations, surgical procedures (unless emergent and life-saving), or long-term hospitalization, their services are critical for a range of acute issues. Here’s a detailed look at the types of conditions and services they expertly provide:
- Urgent Care for Non-Life-Threatening Conditions: This is their core service. They are equipped to handle a variety of acute, concerning but not immediately life-threatening conditions. Common examples include persistent coughing or sneezing, diarrhea or vomiting (without severe dehydration or bleeding), itching and allergic reactions, eye, ear, and skin infections, loss of appetite, urinary tract infections (as highlighted by a customer review for a cat unable to urinate), mild lameness, limping, general discomfort, minor wounds and lacerations, and fracture assessments (initial evaluation).
- Rapid Diagnostic Capabilities: To facilitate quick and accurate diagnoses, the facility is equipped with essential diagnostic tools. This includes digital X-ray technology for immediate imaging of bones and internal structures, diagnostic ultrasound capabilities, and potentially in-house laboratory services for essential bloodwork and other rapid tests.
- Initial Stabilization and Treatment: For pets presenting with urgent conditions, the team focuses on initial stabilization, pain management, and providing the necessary treatment to alleviate symptoms and begin the recovery process. This could involve administering fluids, medications, or performing minor procedural interventions.
- Transparency in Treatment Options and Pricing: A significant highlight, as praised by customers, is their commitment to transparency. They present pet parents with "a paper with different options on what they could do along with the pricing." This allows owners to make informed decisions about their pet's care based on both medical recommendations and financial considerations.
- Coordination with Primary Veterinarians and Specialists: The Dublin Urgent Care acts as a seamless extension of your family veterinarian. After an urgent visit, all records, test results, and treatment plans are promptly communicated back to your primary vet for continuity of care. They also facilitate referrals to The Ohio State University’s main campus Veterinary Medical Center for more advanced specialty care (like neurology, as noted in a review) or for conditions requiring hospitalization or complex surgery not performed at the Dublin urgent care.
- Compassionate Euthanasia Services: While a difficult service, they provide compassionate end-of-life care, offering a supportive environment for pets and their grieving families during such sensitive times.

- Transparency in Pricing and Treatment Options: A highly valued feature is their transparent approach to care. Pet parents are "presented with a paper with different options on what they could do along with the pricing." This clarity allows owners to make informed financial and medical decisions, fostering trust and reducing anxiety during stressful times.
- Expert and Knowledgeable Team (Dr. Lee & Nurse Christina): Specific mentions of staff members like "Dr. Lee and nurse Christina" being "phenomenal" underscore the high level of professional competence and compassionate interaction clients experience. - Convenient After-Hours and Weekend Availability: Their dedicated urgent care hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) fill a critical gap in veterinary services, offering a reliable option for non-life-threatening issues when primary vets are typically closed. This specialized focus helps divert less critical cases from overwhelmed emergency rooms, ensuring pets get the right level of care at the right time.

The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center at Dublin URGENT CARE Reviews
Love it here! I have a cat with epilepsy so I’ve had to take her here when she gets seizure spells. I’ve also taken her here when she couldn’t urinate. Both times we were presented with a paper with different options on what they could do along with the pricing. I love the transparency of this place and the love they obviously had for Ella while she was there!Edit: Not sure how to respond to OSU response. Yes, feel free to use Ella! We’ve been so happy with OSU we’re going to your neurology department for her over MedVet. Our first appointment is April 14th😊
Mar 25, 2025 · LaurenWas so impressed with the staff that I had to leave a review. Dr. Lee and nurse Christina were phenomenal tonight with me and my fur baby. SO compassionate, knowledgeable, kind and down to earth. So nice to have such lovely people to work with while dealing with something as stressful as a sick or injured pup. Also loved the front desk staff as well. Thank you for caring so genuinely and making us feel special.
Mar 16, 2025 · Shannon CoilI’ve had to come to this urgent care on four separate occasions. The staff is always incredibly kind and helpful. They’ve taken car of my dogs as if they were their own and always been considerate to me. Special shout out to Dr. Lee and Dr. Yurke. While rushing your dogs to urgent care is never a good experience, I’ve always felt comfortable coming here.
Jun 22, 2025 · Patricia ArnoldThis was a first time visit, our cat was sick and vomiting, it’s a holiday so we drove 45 minutes to have her checked. Thankful for the Holiday hours for sure, just wish they would have opened the door and let us know how she was doing or update us as to when she would be seen. After 1-1/2 hours I went out to the front and asked, just said the most serious seen first which is understandable…we didn’t hear anything for another hour. It would have made the wait a lot easier to know how she was doing or if she had been assessed by the vet. Just a hey she’s ok, this is what’s going on. Wasn’t busy, we were the only ones there for the first 30 minutes & then only 2 came after in the 4 hours we were there. Hope they can keep people updated in the future, nice girls up front, and room was clean!
Jul 05, 2025 · Michelle HelterbranOur dog fell off a drop off into an active quarry, and broke her femur badly. Our vet suggested we take her to OSU Vets in Dublin about 2 hours away for her surgery the next day. They are so caring and explain everything so well. They take great care of pets and do not care if you call in to check on them and see how they’re doing (even though I felt annoying doing so! They reassured us it is not annoying to them) - her surgery went great and she’s home now healing, but we cannot say enough great things about them! Everyone took great care of Pepper while she was with them. And front desk is very friendly and helpful as well!
