What is worth choosing Town & Country Animal Hospital?
Choosing the right veterinary provider is one of the most important decisions a pet owner can make, and Town & Country Animal Hospital offers compelling reasons for families in North Alabama to trust them with their beloved animals. The first and most significant reason is the human-centered approach to veterinary medicine, as powerfully illustrated by the review about the dog with Acute Kidney Injury. Dr. Edgemon's honesty about the prognosis, combined with his willingness to work within a "really tight budget," is a rare and invaluable quality. He provided a life-saving treatment plan that was not only medically sound but also financially feasible, demonstrating that he truly cares about both the patient and the client. This collaborative spirit turns a stressful situation into a manageable one.
Beyond their compassionate approach, the sheer breadth of services makes them a one-stop-shop for almost all your pet’s needs. Whether you have a puppy needing vaccinations, a senior pet requiring specialized care, a large animal with a specific issue, or a dog needing a safe place to stay during the day, Town & Country has it covered. The ability to handle everything from routine check-ups to life-threatening emergencies means you can rely on a single, trusted team throughout your pet's life. The feedback from the owner of the reactive dog, Mosley, further underscores their outstanding bedside manner. The staff's dedication to making a nervous pet and their owner comfortable is a clear indicator of a professional and caring team. Dr. Dean is described as "awesome," "super friendly," and "truly passionate," and the fact that a reactive dog loves seeing them is perhaps the highest praise a vet clinic can receive. This combination of advanced medical services, financial consideration, and genuine empathy makes Town & Country Animal Hospital an exceptional choice for any pet owner in the Athens area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Super thankful for Dr. Edgemon's help. My girl came in with Acute Kidney Injury from ingesting a liquid fly trap. He was super straight with me when it came to her labs and what numbers would indicate that it's time to let her go versus continuing to care for her. I told him I was on a really tight budget due to some really large expenses fixing a vehicle this month and already having spent a lot of money at the emergency vet. Sometimes when it rains, it pours and you find yourself spending your whole emergency savings in a matter of weeks. When he found that her labs were back within normal range, he encouraged me to keep going and help me to balance her treatment and saving money by taking care of her at home. She has absolutely amazed me at recovery. I have him to thank for considering my budget and being honest about her prognosis while giving me the resources I needed keep her alive/help her recover. Thank you!
August 01 · Alli AThis place is 10/10. They really care about your pets and are extremely accommodating in every aspect. My pup mosley is reactive to other dogs and they help so much making sure he and I are comfortable. Dr. Dean is awesome and super friendly. He seems truly passionate and is very friendly. The nurses are great and everyone handles my pup so well. He loves seeing them which is such a good sign. Thank you and we will be coming here for as long as we have Mosley :)
April 30 · Prod. by GygaHurtsI really hope you find somewhere else to take your pet!!I took my beloved dog for IV fluids and antibiotics was told he did so good and to bring him back the next day to finish the fluids never telling me a no.to call in case of emergency or that my dog was in serious condition. We drove him home put him on the couch I bent down to pick up his bed and my poor dog fell over and died. He died 10 miss after I got him home! I've been devastated and traumatized ever since 4-15-25.They then have the audacity to send me a 680.00 bill. I THINK THEY OWE ME.
July 31 · Danna MaloneI have taken two of my cats here a handful of times and none of their health issues have ever been resolved. It’s my fault for continuing to come back after their issues were not treated, but I am taking my business elsewhere from now on. I don’t know if it’s incompetency or just general lack of care, but I am so frustrated and disappointed with these people. And they charge you an absolutely absurd amount of money for EVERYTHING. I feel like I’m sinking money down a bottomless pit here. My animals have continued to stay ill and it feels like they’re intentionally fooling around so that you have to keep coming back and spend more money. Never, ever again. My poor cat is still hurting from an issue that should have been resolved THE FIRST TRIP, NOT THE THIRD. I am disgusted!
January 16 · clarice whittakerI've been in rescue and fostering on and off for years now, so it was a humbling experience when I was on the other side for once and lost my own pup yesterday. Thank God I had just registered her microchip, because I got a call from Town & Country saying they had her!One of the staff graciously scooped her up near dangerous traffic and took her in on the way to work.I can't say anything about their services of course, but the fact that they scanned her and reached out to me within the three hours she was missing means a lot to me. The facility grounds is immaculate too. Super cute pet relief area by the parking lot, and the inside was beautiful.I felt a bit judged by reception when I first arrived because of my terribly disheveled and anxious state, and being a person for once that had a missing dog, but I'm just thankful for the young woman who saved her life most likely. I'm glad I got to meet her. Can't thank you enough.Register your pet's microchips!!!!!!
