Tri State Vet Supply is primarily focused on serving the unique veterinary needs of farm and large animals within the agricultural communities of Southwest Virginia. While not a typical small animal clinic offering a full range of surgical and diagnostic services for companion pets, their offerings are tailored to support livestock health and farm management. Based on available information and common practices for such establishments, their services typically include:
- Veterinary Supplies Distribution: This is a core offering, providing a wide array of essential veterinary products specifically for large animals. This includes vaccinations, dewormers, antibiotics, wound care products, and other medications necessary for herd health management.
- Farm Animal Consultations/Examinations (Veterinarian on Staff/Access): While the reviews indicate a focus on supplies, a "vet supply" often implies access to veterinary consultation, either through an on-site veterinarian or through referral. This would include routine health checks, diagnosis of common farm animal ailments, and treatment recommendations for cattle, sheep, and other livestock.
- Preventative Herd Health Programs: Guidance on establishing and maintaining preventative health protocols for livestock, including vaccination schedules, parasite control strategies, and biosecurity measures to keep entire herds or flocks healthy.
- Nutritional Guidance for Livestock: Advice on appropriate feeding regimens and supplements to optimize the health, growth, and productivity of various farm animals.
- Reproductive Services (Potentially): Depending on the scale and specific focus, some large animal vet supply operations may offer basic reproductive services such as pregnancy checks or breeding soundness exams for livestock.
- Emergency Support (Supplies/Advice): Providing access to critical supplies and possibly immediate advice for urgent farm animal health issues, bridging the gap until more extensive veterinary intervention can be arranged if necessary.
- Educational Resources: Potentially offering information or workshops on best practices for livestock care, disease prevention, and farm management techniques to empower local farmers.
It's important for potential customers to clarify specific services directly with Tri State Vet Supply, especially regarding direct veterinary consultations and appointments, given the nature of a "supply" focused operation. However, their primary role is to be a vital resource for the ongoing health and productivity of farm animals in the region.
Tri State Vet Supply serves a distinct and vital role within the agricultural community of Southwest Virginia. While some customer experiences highlight administrative challenges, the core value they bring to local farmers and livestock owners is evident in other aspects:

This specialization makes them an invaluable resource for livestock owners who often struggle to find comprehensive veterinary support tailored to large animals at typical small pet clinics. This dedicated focus means they stock the specific medications, vaccines, and equipment necessary for herd health management.
- Comprehensive Range of Farm Supplies: Their strength lies in providing a wide array of veterinary supplies essential for farm operations. This saves farmers time and effort, as they can acquire a multitude of necessary products for preventative care, treatment of common ailments, and general livestock management in one convenient location.
- Easy-Going and Accessible Approach: Despite administrative challenges reported by one customer, another review positively notes that "They’re very easy going and easily accessible." This suggests a flexible and accommodating approach to their primary clientele – the hardworking farmers who need practical and straightforward solutions. Their physical accessibility for farm vehicles further enhances this feature.
- Trusted Resource for Agricultural Community: For many local farmers, Tri State Vet Supply is a long-standing and trusted partner. Mar 27, 2025 · Carolyn TrivettWe use the TriState Vet Supply for all of our farm needs — from cattle to sheep and everything in between. They’re very easy going and easily accessible.
Apr 25, 2024 · Danielle Defayette SmithI had called around for hours trying to find a vet to come help us with an issue with our sheep. Most said it would be 5 days at least before they could visit us Washington County Vet Services had a doctor out to us same day. Dr Fletcher made the two hour round trip drive to make a farm visit for us. He was very knowledgeable, respectful and efficient. Thankful to have found them!
Feb 16, 2022 · Sabrina YokumStaff very nice and helpful. However, as a nonsmoker, I didn't appreciate walking into a business and having smoke so heavy in the air I could barely breathe even with a mask on. I had to go home and change clothes to get the cigarette reek off of me and take my inhaler so I could breath. A public business should not have that issue!!
Sep 19, 2021 · Sandra TaylorWorthless, presupposing vets who have made their mind up about what your problem is before they’ve seen your animal. Even if their hunch means risking more losses. I wouldn’t trust my stock to these folks.
