Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care Introduce
For pet owners across North Carolina, especially in the bustling Durham area, the sudden onset of an illness or injury in a beloved pet can be a source of immense worry. While primary veterinarians handle routine care and emergency hospitals address life-threatening crises, there’s a crucial gap in between – for those urgent, but not critical, situations that simply can’t wait. This is precisely where Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care steps in, offering a vital service for dogs and cats in the region. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of what makes Truss Vet an indispensable resource for local pet owners, highlighting their specialized approach, convenient accessibility, range of services, and the exceptional features that define their compassionate care.
Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care is pioneering a new category in veterinary medicine, bridging the essential gap between your primary care veterinarian and the 24-hour emergency hospital. Their philosophy is simple: provide immediate, high-quality care for non-life-threatening conditions that still require prompt attention. They understand that when your pet is unwell, time is of the essence, and waiting days for a regular appointment isn't always an option, while a full emergency room might be overkill (and significantly more expensive). Truss Vet aims to alleviate the stress of such situations by offering same-day appointments and a welcoming, fear-free environment. They are committed to transparent communication, ensuring pet parents are fully informed about diagnoses, treatment options, and costs every step of the way. Their dedication to a personalized and empathetic experience, from the moment you call to follow-up care, sets them apart as a truly pet- and owner-centric facility in North Carolina.
Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care is conveniently located at 3105 Shannon Rd Suite 102, Durham, NC 27707, USA. This strategic address places them within the University Hill Development, between 15-501 and University Drive, making it easily accessible for pet owners throughout Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Morrisville, and surrounding areas. The facility is designed to be welcoming and spotless, as noted by appreciative clients. A standout feature for accessibility is their check-in system, which minimizes waiting room stress: "You wait in your car until they are ready for you." This is particularly beneficial for pets who may be anxious or reactive to other animals. Ample parking is typically available, further contributing to a smooth arrival process. Truss Vet's operating hours, generally 10 AM to 10 PM on weekdays and Sundays (closed Saturdays), also offer crucial flexibility for urgent needs that arise outside of typical primary vet hours, but don't warrant an overnight emergency stay.
Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care specializes in addressing a wide range of non-life-threatening but urgent conditions in dogs and cats. They are not a primary care veterinarian (so no routine vaccines or preventatives) nor a 24-hour emergency hospital for critical, life-threatening cases or surgeries requiring hospitalization. Instead, they focus on providing immediate attention for issues that need prompt evaluation.
Gastrointestinal (GI) Issues: Including general stomach upset, vomiting, diarrhea, loose stools, toxin/poison ingestion (non-life-threatening), eating non-food items, scooting from anal gland issues, blood in stool, and parasites (like worms).
Skin Problems: Such as red, itchy, flaky, stinky, or otherwise abnormal skin, hot spots, chewing paws, lumps, bumps, parasites (like fleas and ticks), hair loss, ear infections, allergies, and allergic reactions.
Injuries: Lameness or limping, difficulty standing or walking, minor wounds, cuts and scrapes, pain, nail injuries, minor dog/cat fight or bite wounds. One client praised their immediate care for "2 lacerations" on their greyhound's back leg.
Urinary Issues: Excessive drinking or urination, peeing in the house or outside the litterbox, licking of genitals, dehydration, not drinking, blood in the urine, and urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Eye Issues: Squinting, redness, excessive tear production, eye discharge, or facial rubbing, including "pink eye" or other infections.
Respiratory Issues: Coughing, wheezing, sneezing, or excessive panting (without severe breathing difficulty).
Other Concerns: Including fever, hiding, sudden behavior changes, whining, bad breath, insect bites/stings, and snakebites. They evaluate anything that seems unusual or concerning but not immediately life-threatening.
Outpatient Ultrasound Services: Truss Vet recently added a Board-Certified Veterinary Radiologist to their team, now offering outpatient ultrasounds and advanced radiograph interpretations.
End-of-Life Care: They offer euthanasia services, including options for private or communal cremation, providing compassionate support during difficult times.
Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care stands out due to an array of exceptional features and highlights, as consistently praised by grateful pet owners across North Carolina.
Unparalleled Customer Service & Personalization: From the initial phone call, clients experience "incredible customer service." The attention to detail, like seeing the pet's name on a board outside the exam room and on a "patient board" inside, creates a "very personable" and welcoming atmosphere. Reviewers note being "offered coffee, water, and snacks," contributing to a comfortable wait.
Immediate and Efficient Care: Clients are consistently impressed with the speed of service. Even living "almost an hour away," one caller was "assured... we could be seen once we got there," and upon arrival, they were "taken right back." For an injured greyhound, they were "able to be seen immediately when the clinic opened." This rapid response is crucial for urgent situations.
Transparent and Upfront Pricing: A highly valued feature is their clear communication regarding costs. As one reviewer highlighted, the doctor "went over the total costs before moving forward," and the nurse "still kept us up to date with prices each step of the way." This contrasts sharply with experiences at other clinics where "many places just do any and everything and then come back with a sky high bill that you cannot afford."
Thorough Explanation and Education: The veterinary team, including the doctors and nurses, excels at explaining everything clearly. "Everything was clearly explained, and my questions were answered." This empowers pet owners to understand their pet's condition and treatment options.
Exceptional Follow-up Care: The commitment to pets doesn't end at discharge. Receiving "a message thanking us for choosing them" shortly after leaving, and a "text asking how our baby was doing" the next morning, demonstrates a rare level of post-visit care that deeply resonates with clients. They even give "a hand written card wishing us well in a gift bag" with medication.
Stress-Free Environment: The combination of the car-wait system, welcoming atmosphere, gentle handling, and clear communication aims to make visits less stressful for both pets and their humans.

Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care Reviews
Truss Urgent Care was recommended by our vet due to our cat’s symptoms. The incredible customer service began the moment the office answered my call. The employee was so friendly and scheduled an appointment immediately, only 15 minutes out. We live almost an hour away though, so she assured me that we could be seen once we got there. Once we arrived, we seen that the place was very welcoming and appeared spotless. We were taken right back. As we approached the exam room we saw that our baby’s name was written on a little board outside the door which we felt was very personable. We were offered coffee, water, and snacks. Once we got into the room, we saw a “patient board” that was cutely decorated for St. Patrick’s Day that had our baby’s name on it too! Once again, very personable! The Nurse came in, asked what was going on, and informed us of what they would be doing to get tests started. We agreed, and our cat was taken right back. After maybe 10 minutes, the Doctor came in and told us what she had found, and answered other questions we had. She went over a treatment plan with two different options for us to choose from. We picked what we needed and she went over the total costs before moving forward, which we thought was very considerate. The Nurse came back in and explained what meds would be given, gave us a couple of options and still kept us up to date with prices each step of the way. (I know your pets health is priceless, but so many places just do any and everything and then come back with a sky high bill that you cannot afford.) After paying, our baby was brought to us and we headed back home. They had placed her medication and a hand written card wishing us well in a gift bag! No longer than an hour after we had been gone we received a message thanking us for choosing them, which we were so grateful of being referred! This morning I received a text asking how our baby was doing, and we thought that was the sweetest thing! Truss Urgent Care is 100 out of 10 in our book and we would HIGHLY recommend for your pets urgent needs! Thank you Truss!
Mar 13, 2025 · Kayla CraftMy greyhound injured his back leg on an early morning walk. He had 2 lacerations. We were able to be seen immediately when the clinic opened. We received excellent care from the vet and staff. Everything was clearly explained, and my questions were answered. I got a nice follow up text from the staff today inquiring about how my dog is doing. I highly recommend Truss!
May 12, 2025 · Rachel BowmanWhen my cat became seriously ill, she and I were both treated with love and respect. Dr. Camacho, and the entire Truss team, now know my sweet kitty even though she has only been in their office 2X! Each time I pick up meds, it feels like my cat is a part of their family. I have never felt this at any other vet’s office.
Jun 24, 2025 · Amy DanielsMy vet didn’t have availability and suggested we reach out to Truss. Every part of the process - calling, intake, the exam, the diagnosis - was painless, easy, and even comfortable! They worked hard to put my dog Peanut at ease and build trust with her, even bringing her blanket to lay on. Exceptionally caring and attentive folks here - shout out to Dr. Taylor and Kryssy. Absolutely recommend.
Apr 11, 2025 · Megan BosticI’ve been to Truss twice and had amazing experiences. Both times there were appointments available within an hour of me calling. When we arrived, we were taken to a private room immediately. We were in and out, including physical exam, diagnostics, and payment, within an hour both times. The staff is so kind and the doctors are so thorough. Everyone was transparent about treatment options, prices, and expectations. I recommend Truss to everyone! Thank you all so much for taking care of my Oink :)
