Emergency veterinarian service, Animal hospital ★3.0

Our 15 year old dog, Dublin is our first born and so incredibly loved. We always take her to the east coast with us for the summer. My husband always drives her cross country to meet us since she is a bigger dog and we don't want her to fly in cargo. We had one last amazing summer with her. We knew she was not doing well, but we wanted her back home with us so badly and my husband wanted one last road trip with her. She made it from Massachusetts to Omaha, NE, but went down hill quickly. My husband was devastated. I found VCA Mid west on the internet because it was close to where my husband was driving. We unfortunately had to put Dublin down but the staff was so incredibly kind to Dublin, to my husband and to myself (on the phone). They gave Dublin something to make her comfortable and gave my husband as much time as he needed to say good bye. They took care of everything and the cremation place was able to ship her ashes to us. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness during such a hard time for our family. I feel very blessed that we found you. Your staff is so compassionate and its obvious how much you love animals and how you understand how much they mean to their family. God Bless you! - Krista Bonilla

VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center Introduce

For pet owners across Nebraska, ensuring the best possible care for a beloved animal companion is a top priority. When a pet faces a complex medical condition or a sudden, critical emergency, having access to advanced veterinary resources is essential. This is where VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Omaha steps in, serving as a vital resource for specialized and urgent animal health services for the entire region, including Omaha and beyond.

This facility is not a typical neighborhood clinic; rather, it is a leading animal hospital specializing in two crucial areas: emergency and critical care and a comprehensive range of veterinary specialty services. They work in close partnership with a pet's primary care veterinarian, providing the next level of diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical treatments when a general practice reaches its limits or when an immediate, life-threatening situation arises. The hospital's commitment to high-quality, compassionate care is evident in the heartfelt testimonials from pet owners who have faced some of the most difficult moments in their pet’s lives.

The dedication of the staff, from emergency veterinarians to board-certified specialists and technicians, is frequently highlighted by grateful clients. They provide not just medical expertise, but also genuine empathy during times of distress, ensuring that even during the darkest of days, families and their pets are treated with profound kindness. For instance, one review praised the team for their "incredibly kind and compassionate" support during the difficult decision to put down a beloved, elderly dog far from home, demonstrating the deeply human element of care that is interwoven with their advanced medical practice.

VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is known for housing a team of internationally renowned, board-certified veterinary specialists. These specialists have undergone years of additional, rigorous training and examinations in their respective fields, bringing a deeper level of knowledge to complex and life-threatening conditions like shock, traumatic injuries, severe respiratory distress, poisonings, and acute organ failure. They are a referral center for primary care veterinarians throughout Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Kansas, making them a regional hub for advanced animal medical care.

Their state-of-the-art facility is purpose-built to facilitate the optimal delivery of advanced veterinary care. This includes dedicated surgical suites, a sterile prep area, a quiet recovery room, an advanced radiology and diagnostic imaging wing, a large treatment area, and a fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Critically ill pets benefit from 24-hour supervision and monitoring, with access to vital services like oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, blood transfusions, and nutritional support, just as a human hospital would provide. This continuous, high-level monitoring is a cornerstone of their commitment to critical care.
