---Customer feedback for VCA Mission Animal Hospital reveals a mixed experience, yet highlights certain aspects that are particularly notable for pet owners in California:
- Exceptional Veterinary Care (Dr. Kaplan): A significant highlight is the praise for specific veterinarians, notably Dr. Kaplan. One client described feeling "truly pleased with Doctor Kaplan" who made them feel "relaxed and not fearful of asking questions." This doctor is commended for not pressuring owners into "unnecessary exams or tests," fostering a sense of trust and a positive, collaborative approach to pet healthcare. This is a crucial feature for pet owners who appreciate a transparent and honest medical assessment.
- Positive Front Desk Experiences (Specific Staff): While some reviews indicate challenges with front desk staff, others, like the one praising Timothy and Vanessa, highlight "super friendly and helpful" service. This suggests that positive interactions are possible and contribute significantly to a pleasant overall clinic experience. When these individuals are present, their helpfulness is a definite highlight.
- Timeliness of Appointments: At least one client noted that their "apt was at 3pm and they saw me right on time," indicating a commitment to punctuality, which is highly valued by busy pet owners.
- Relaxed Atmosphere for Pets: The positive interaction with Dr. Kaplan and specific staff members can contribute to a more relaxed environment for pets, reducing the anxiety often associated with vet visits.
It's important for potential clients to consider that while there are strong positives, particularly regarding specific veterinarians and some staff members, there are also noted inconsistencies in customer service, especially at the front desk. This duality means that individual experiences may vary. However, the positive feedback regarding veterinary care itself, especially the non-pressuring approach, remains a significant draw for many.

If I can give this clinic more than five stars I would I avoid the vet because of past experiences the wait times they have you wait the pressure they put to make you do unnecessary exams and end up with a huge debt my apt was at 3pm and they saw me right on time I am truly pleased with Doctor Kaplan for once I’ve felt relaxed and not fearful of asking questions regarding my concerns for my cats without the fear of the doctor telling me or pressuring me for a test or unnecessary exams . I also want to thank Timothy and Vanessa at the front desk they were super friendly and helpful Im definitely sticking to this clinic as my primary for both of my cats it was a very pleasant experience thank you :)
Jul 01, 2025 · Talia RoblesThe front desk staff is absolutely disgusting. No manners, absolutely rejects people and dismiss anything you say. “You don’t have an appointment”, I show them my appointment confirmation and says “well there’s no vet anyways so just go to the vet down the street”. Why are you even open if you don’t have a vet available? I did not have the energy to argue so I just walked away.Save your time and don’t even inquire with these clowns.
May 29, 2025 · Eduardo CornejoThis is the only place I have used since I got my dog 8 years ago. He is a large white Shepherd that gwts extra defensive every time I bring him in. For years I have requested a full check up but the doctor refuses to sedate him which is the only way to fully work on him. He has set up plans other than sedation that’s never worked and I have over and over requested sedation to no avail. His last advice was to send him to behavioral training (how long for an 8 year old dog?) After 8 years with no check ups or examinations I finally visited another hospital and on the same day they did sedate him and through X-rays and examinations he was found to have numerous issues and infections and is now being treated. These problems could have been taken care of years ago but when you have a vet who seems frightened just being in same room it is very disturbing. To all of you out there with large dogs DO NOT go there. I am just glad that he is getting the necessary care that every owner wants for their pet.
Mar 07, 2025 · SilverShark CI been coming here for about 18-20 years. I would say pricing wise this place is pretty expensive. From getting your shots to pets getting neutered/sprayed. Pricing wise it’s up there. I would say a positive has been the vet doctors. I haven’t had a bad experience with any doctors yet I been coming to Dr Park as my regular. If Dr Park is not there then Dr Kaplan. Again no issues with the doctors since they do a good job.My only complaint is the training from the front staff. I don’t know if I should blame how there’s a constant turnover of staff here. Some of the front staff is not well trained and I get it. I even ask the staff all the time if my puppies were fully vaccinated and if they need any more shots because we do take our dogs out on walks. When I finally need to board them the front staff tells me I have incomplete series and my pups can’t be boarded. That enrages me! I mean the reason why I ask if they are fully vaccinated is because I want them to be fully protected when I take them on walks or when I need them to be boarded. The time when I need them boarded they said oh you need two series and cause they are puppies we don’t want to risk it.Why do that to me when I been a good paying customer for the last 20 years. Things like this is because staff are not well trained and when you need help they turn their backs on you. Now I just need to schedule a vaccination but decide if I want to stay with them or not.
Jan 11, 2025 · cyndi nguyenThis is a really nice vet and I'm disappointed I moved away and won't be able to use them anymore. The front desk staff is friendly, I never had to wait too long, and Dr. Kaplan is a very kind, comforting doctor. He always presented a wide range of treatment options and I never felt any judgement for taking a less invasive route.
