★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I would give 0 if possible. They hurt my fur baby, & didnt seem to care.My cat went in for an pre operation ultrasound for a major abdominal surgery. This is not our first time getting ultrasounds for our cats, but first time here. They cut 5 out of the 6 nipples my cat has and 3 of them were worse than the other two. I understand that it can happen at times unfortunately with the clippers. However, there was no need for her to be cut that close in the first place. Secondarily, they did NOT even communicate to me upon pick up my cat had open wounds on her abdomen less then 2 weeks from her surgery. They did not dress the wounds, no pain meds, nothing. I found out at home and had to call them. I was met with dismissiveness and lack of care. I ended up having to go to an ER as it was only thing open to have her cuts addressed since my cat was not moving or eating due to pain. The ER also gave us antibiotics to avoid infection since she is about to have a big cut in that region, which this VCA knew about. None of these things this VCA did and they did NOT even care. The ER sent records over as standard procedure, and we got a call from the practice manager with the same attitude. We had to spend $300 more dollars at ER for them to fix this VCA's mistake and now my kitty has to deal with this and meds (which no pet likes taking) leading up to a big and stressful surgery.Additional context:The practice manager and vet said sorry, but followed it up with excuses and nonchalant attitude. They did not put anything on her wounds at the office but told us to do neosporin and find something to cover them, which they should've done. We did but the wounds kept reopening. They compared her wounds to paper cuts which the ER people made a face at and said "maybe really nasty paper cuts". They claimed the cuts weren't actively bleeding, which isn't true as there was smeared blood as seen in photos. We spent a lot of money on an ultrasound that resulted in wound care when an ultrasound should never result in that happening. Their whole attitude was "sorry, but..". Inexcusable behavior & unfortunately the photos do not do it justice.
June 17 · Victoria RoseIt seems like we've been to every vet in town over the last 25 years. each place has it's plusses and minuses. VCA Oshtemo does not. It only has plusses. From the doctors to the assistants to the miracle workers at the front desk, this place is different. this place is family. Dr Scherger is our favorite but honestly, you can not go wrong here. Any DVM here is probably better than who you're relying on for your pet's health and comfort now. I loathe writing reviews but I honestly feel obligated based on how great VCA Oshtemo has been to our beloved pets. our 2 cats and 2 dogs are among the most important beings in our life (if you understand, you understand) and knowing that we have experts who care about our pets' wellbeing like we do brings an unbelievable peace of mind.
August 08 · Jon SuttonI'm taking my second pet to this vet. They put my first baby down and they were so kind and considerate. When they returned his ashes to me, they also gave me a clay paw print. These people are really caring.
March 10 · Nicole WorthyMy old guy was really not feeling well and I needed to get into the Vet asap. My current Vet had a last minute appointment for me but reneged and then could not make space for us. To be fair it was a Monday, which can get kinda crazy at a Vet office.I called Oshtemo Animal Hospital and they got back to me right away to come in as a new client. The front staff was very nice. When I arrived the parking was easy, the lobby was clean and we got into a room quick.Dr. Amber Dickson was great! Loved the ease of her exam and treatment plan. She listened with empathy to my concerns and seemed in lock step with our needs for our pup. We got medications filled and recheck exam set up. I got everything I needed that day and was happy with the price. They are not cheap, nor should they be for excellent care. I believe the pricing to be fair.More so, we are happy to have finally found a Veterinary hospital of quality in the Kalamazoo area. Thanks Dr. Dickson
June 21 · Erin KWe took our senior cat there for help after we just adopted her from Kalamazoo County Animal Services and Enforcement who can't be trusted either. She was in distress after being home with us for 2 days. She kept clawing at her mouth as if there was something lodged in her throat. She would eat and shortly after eating she would start clawing at her mouth. We told them this and instead of putting her under and using a scope like we asked them to they ran all kinds of tests and never looked down her throat. The tests and xtra meds came out to $1200. She still could not keep anything down. Then they wanted to do more testing at our expense. All a racket for the money. They didn't even offer us help in paying the bill. At this Vet is all about the money. They will take you for all they can all the while pretending to care about your pet. Stay away from all these vets as money comes first. Much better Vets out there if you look. We trusted them to do the right thing and they failed us. If only we had insisted on the scope she would be alive today. She died on us and KalamazooCSE would not help us either. I would give them no stars if I could because of their behavior.
