Ensuring your pet receives necessary preventative care is fundamental to their long-term well-being. Vetco Vaccination Clinic aims to simplify this process, offering a streamlined experience for common services that keep your pet healthy and protected. Understanding their model and services can help you determine if this clinic is the right fit for your pet's needs.
The Vetco Vaccination Clinic is conveniently located at 7565 US 31 S Ste A-01, Indianapolis, IN 46227, USA. This accessible location on a major thoroughfare in South Indianapolis makes it easy to reach for residents in surrounding areas such as Greenwood, Southport, and other southern Indianapolis neighborhoods. Vetco clinics are often situated inside Petco stores, offering a combined convenience where pet owners can attend to their pet's health needs and other shopping errands in one trip.
It's important for local users to note the setup, as one review mentions being "shocked" to find the "Clinic" was a section within the store. While this integrated model can be very convenient for many, it means the clinic operates within a retail environment rather than a standalone, traditional veterinary hospital. This design is key to its operational efficiency and affordability. Clinic hours typically include weekends and some weeknights, designed to accommodate busy schedules, though it's always advisable to check specific operating hours for this location.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic specializes in preventative care services, making it an excellent option for routine health maintenance. It is generally not a full-service animal hospital, meaning it typically does not offer comprehensive medical care for sick or injured pets, advanced diagnostics, or complex surgeries. Their primary focus allows them to deliver these core services efficiently and affordably.
Vaccinations:
Their core service, offering a full range of vaccinations for dogs and cats. This includes legally required rabies vaccines, core vaccines like distemper/parvo for dogs and feline distemper (FVRCP) for cats, and lifestyle-dependent vaccines such as canine influenza, Leptospirosis, and Feline Leukemia (FeLV). They help pet owners determine the appropriate vaccination schedule based on their pet's age, breed, and lifestyle.
Microchipping:
A crucial service for pet safety, microchipping provides permanent identification that significantly increases the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families. This is a quick and straightforward procedure offered on-site.
Parasite Prevention and Testing:
They provide essential services for controlling common parasites, including heartworm testing and prescription heartworm prevention. They also offer flea and tick medications, and fecal testing to screen for intestinal parasites, helping protect your pet and your home.
Basic Diagnostic Tests:
While not a full diagnostic lab, they offer essential tests such as Heartworm & Tick-Borne Disease Testing to ensure your pet is protected and to detect common issues early.
Deworming:
Routine deworming services are available for puppies, kittens, and adult pets, addressing common intestinal worms to maintain digestive health.
No Exam Fees (for clinic services):
A key benefit of Vetco Vaccination Clinic is the typical absence of an exam fee for their preventative services. This transparent pricing structure can help pet owners manage their budget, as they generally only pay for the specific services and products rendered.
Affordable Packages:
Vetco often provides various affordable packages that bundle essential vaccinations and preventative services, making it more convenient and cost-effective for pet owners to keep their animals up-to-date on necessary care.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic on US 31 S has several features that appeal to pet owners seeking convenient and economical preventative care, though some aspects of their operational model have elicited mixed feedback.
Convenient Location and Integration:
Being located within a Petco store on a major road is a significant advantage for many, allowing for quick, combined errands. This accessibility helps ensure pets receive their necessary preventative care.
Focus on Preventative Care:
The clinic's specialization in vaccinations and basic parasite control means they are highly efficient in delivering these core services. This focused approach can be beneficial for healthy pets needing routine updates.
Affordable Pricing:
One of the primary draws for Vetco is its cost-effective service model, which often translates to lower prices for vaccinations and common preventative medications compared to full-service veterinary hospitals. This helps make essential care more accessible.
Clean Environment:
Clients have noted the clinic to be clean, which is important for maintaining a professional and hygienic environment for pet care.
Kind and Caring Staff (as reported by some):
Several customers have praised the "wonderful people" on staff for being kind, caring, and understanding, especially with anxious pets. Their ability to handle pets gently, even when stressed, is a notable positive point, ensuring a better experience for the animal during the visit.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge that some customer experiences can vary. Feedback suggests that the "first come, first serve" nature for appointments, even when an appointment time is given, can lead to long wait times. This structure, along with the open clinic setup within a retail store, might not be ideal for all pets, particularly those who are highly anxious or reactive to busy environments. Some reviews also indicate inconsistencies in customer service regarding explanations or communication from certain staff members.

Its accessible location, often within a Petco store, provides a convenient "one-stop shop" for pet parents managing busy schedules and multiple errands.
The primary suitability of this clinic for locals lies in its specialized focus on essential preventative care. For routine vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite control, Vetco offers an efficient and often more affordable alternative to full-service veterinary hospitals. This can be particularly appealing for budget-conscious owners or those with multiple pets needing regular boosters. While the walk-in or first-come, first-serve approach (even with appointments) may lead to wait times, and the open retail environment might not suit every pet's temperament, many reviews highlight the kindness and gentle handling of the staff, especially with anxious animals. Vetco Vaccination Clinic Reviews
Great experience! My dogs were anxious due to them always having free run of my house and yard. Being in harnesses and a leash did not make them happy. These wonderful people were kind, caring and understanding of each dog. I couldn't thank them more.
Jul 03, 2025 · Shari EarlyI was walking around and around to find the “Clinic” but was shocked when I learned that they sectioned part of the store (next to the cashier) and called it Vetco…I made an appointment and arrived on time. Had to wait for over an hour! Because they do not care about your appointment time! It’s just all first come first serve… horrible experience for my dog and me. Staff here also has bad customer service skills…If you have to use their service here, just come when they open. Good luck.
Oct 11, 2024 · Julie ZhuGood luck in getting a prescription called in to get filled. They send you an Email of the prescription. No will fill an email note. When called to get it sent to Costco we was told it could take up to 20 days. The vet was also piss poor in the treatment of my service dog.Never again
Aug 22, 2024 · Stephen SmithI made the appointment online, which was easy. I came in with Bella and everyone was friendly. They got us checked in quickly. The ladies administering the shots, were so sweet with Bella, and quickly got the shots done. It was such an easy process.
Feb 19, 2024 · Stephanie LandI specifically requested only two vaccines for my cat, but they gave him a package which also included a dewormer I was not aware of, and the package was more expensive. The rabies vaccine was also supposed to have a 3 year expiration but they gave it a 1 year expiration (had the same exact issue the last time I went to this same clinic 3 years ago). The way they handle these appointments, you don't get the receipt until the end which is when I found all the problems. The vets at the store said they couldn't fix it, call vetco. I called vetco, they said they couldn't fix it. This place is a joke and customer service is non-existant. I've wasted too much of my time trying to get simple vaccines, I will happily pay more to get them at my vet from now on.
