Veterinary Emergency Group Introduce
When a beloved pet suddenly falls ill or suffers an injury, the stress and anxiety can be overwhelming. As a pet owner in California, particularly in the Pleasant Hill and Contra Costa County area, knowing you have a reliable, compassionate, and expert emergency veterinary service available at any hour is invaluable. Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is a standout name in this field, dedicated to providing immediate and high-quality care when your pet needs it most. They are a dedicated emergency animal hospital, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you never have to face a crisis alone.
VEG operates with a unique and powerful philosophy: they are there for you and your pet in a crisis, with a focus on communication and empathy. As one client's review about their cat's 3 a.m. emergency visit highlights, the team is "kind, clear, sympathetic, and thorough throughout the entire visit." The doctors, such as Dr. Brittany Nguyen and Dr. Suzanne Miller, and their vet techs are not only highly skilled but also remarkably patient and gentle, even with a "grouchy" or anxious animal. This approach to care helps to keep both pets and their owners as calm as possible during a stressful time.
VEG is an emergency-only clinic, which means their entire operation is streamlined to handle urgent medical issues. This specialization allows them to excel in treating a wide range of conditions, from accidental ingestion and vomiting to life-threatening injuries and seizures. They are also a rare and valuable resource for owners of exotic pets, as they are equipped to handle emergencies for these unique animals as well. The clinic is committed to providing a transparent and well-reasoned treatment plan, ensuring that pet owners are fully informed and can make the best decisions for their animals' health. Their dedication to creating a safe and welcoming environment is also evident in their commitment to being an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender-safe space, ensuring all members of the community feel respected and supported.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Loved the care my 2yo Cane Corso Bonnie received. We came in for an abscess on her chest/tummy area. Normally cautious around people she doesn’t know, Bonnie was calm after initially showing typical guarding behavior. The receptionists were confident when we arrived and did not show fear that in turn kept her energy calm. We were placed in an exam room away from the waiting area , that also helped Bonnie to be less anxious. Dr Suzanne Miller and her vet tech were able to conduct the examination to assess treatment options. I really appreciated the care she received and would like to return for Bonnie’s annual visits! Thank you VEG, you’re great❣️🐾🐾
May 20 · Gwen LauderHayesI brought my cat to this emergency vet at 3am and Dr. Brittany Nguyen was our doctor. She was kind, clear, sympathetic, and thorough throughout the entire visit. Despite my cat being quite grouchy, she handled him gently and efficiently, collecting a lot of information in a short amount of time.Dr. Nguyen ordered tests that felt appropriate for his symptoms and carefully reviewed the results with me. I appreciated her well-reasoned treatment plan and the way she took time to answer all of my questions.I also want to give a big thank you to the vet techs and assistants who helped us. They were patient and professional, even when my cat gave them a VERY hard time during bloodwork. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to get the necessary tests done smoothly.Given the circumstances, I was very grateful for the care we received. I hope I won’t need emergency services again, but if I do, I’ll definitely return here and would recommend this clinic to others.
June 14 · Stephanie Lew VeilleuxBrought my dog here because he got attacked by two dogs while he was on a run. He was bleeding still when we got there, and I had no idea the extent of his wounds. From the first phone call with Molly, I felt like we were in good hands. The staff never made it seem like we were a burden, and everyone was very sweet and respectful of his nervous temperament. The facility was really clean and modern, and they have a courtesy snack and drinks area, which was really nice because we were there for a few hours from check in to leaving. Molly was so sweet and cleaned up the blood my dog left on the floor while we were in the bathroom so it didn't look so distressful, and she even got him towels and a doggy bed to lay in since he didn't want to lay on the couch after awhile. Dr. Mackenzie Forsythe was amazing. She was very clear about everything and thorough. I love her demeanor. The nurses were all great as well. We were lucky to work with Ben, Gabrielle, and Sierra. Ben and Molly were very helpful with some billing stuff at the end since the other dogs' owner was footing the bill for us. Gabrielle and Sierra were so kind and patient with us, and they were so personable and accommodating. I really appreciate the fact that you can stay with your pet from start to finish here unlike some other ERs Ive been to where they just take your dog and you have no idea what's going on for hours on end. I got to keep him comfortable and happy the whole time and even got to watch the procedure. These people care about service quality and patient comfort, and you can tell they care about the families as well. All wonderful folks. The vibe in the office was so chill too, so that really helps the animals, I'm sure. It didn't feel like a crisis center like some of the other placesWe've been to, and I wish all vet experiences were this pleasant. They really made a terrible, stressful situation palatable and memorable in a very positive way. I hope we don't ever have to go back, but I would come back in a heartbeat for any other emergency.
March 21 · Luke IvanovThe best emergency vet I’ve ever been to. My cat had to stay overnight, and the entire team—doctors, nurses, and techs—was incredibly kind, patient, and thorough. They answered all my questions (even when I spiraled into many scenarios) and reassured me that I could call anytime to check in. They even offered for me to stay overnight with him, but I had to return to my other pet. The facility is beautiful and clean with an open floor plan, free snacks/coffee/water/tea, and such a welcoming atmosphere. They even have couches that turn into sofa beds if you wanted to stay overnight. You can really tell these doctors and their team know exactly what they’re doing and how much they care. While I hope I never need to return, I’d trust them with my cat again in a heartbeat. He’s home and feeling really good now, and I’m beyond grateful.
March 01 · Christina SWe had such a great experience today at VEG! The environment was so clean & nice. The staff was so kind and patient, & truly helped me out during a stressful time of concerning vomiting with my doggy. They were so gentle and caring with my dog & gave her the treatment she needed! They helped keep everything affordable while still giving my dog the best care which means the world. Big thank you to Dr. Carlye Uretta! I am so glad we decided to come to VEG & super grateful for the team! We left feeling supported and hopeful. Thank you for taking us in & taking care of my baby Cloudy!
