The philosophy at ABC Veterinary Hospital is rooted in treating every pet with the same love and attention as if they were their own. This commitment to compassionate service is not just a slogan; it is a core value that shapes every interaction, from the front desk staff to the veterinarian. While some reviews may mention concerns about pricing, the consistent and overwhelming sentiment from long-term clients is a deep appreciation for the quality of care and the personal relationship built over years of service. For many, the peace of mind that comes from knowing their veterinarian is always there for them, in both routine and emergency situations, is priceless.
The hospital’s reputation is built on its ability to provide comprehensive and thoughtful treatment, without cutting corners. A long-term client's experience of bringing in a cat with a botched wound from another emergency vet, and having it properly fixed at ABC, is a powerful testament to the clinic’s surgical and medical skill. Choosing ABC Veterinary Hospital is a decision that many California pet owners in the Concord area have made, and the reasons are compelling. While some reviews mention that prices can be high, the value provided in return for that investment is consistently praised. The most powerful reason to choose this hospital is the unwavering trust and respect clients have for the main veterinarian. One client, who has been bringing their four animals to the clinic for over 10 years, attests that despite the cost, they are "proud and very happy to call him my vet" because he "doesn't cut corners with treatments or care." This speaks to a quality-over-quantity approach that is essential in veterinary medicine.
The hospital's ability to handle both routine care and complex, urgent cases with skill and compassion is a major draw. The story of the cat with the abscessed wound and the dog with multiple health issues shows the veterinarian’s diagnostic prowess and gentle touch. For pet owners in the Bay Area, having a vet who is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely kind and respectful is invaluable. The personal touches, like the veterinarian shaking a new client's hand, remembering their name, and providing special urns after a pet's passing, create a bond that goes beyond a simple business transaction. This combination of advanced medical care, an empathetic staff, and a deep commitment to animal welfare makes ABC Veterinary Hospital an excellent and highly recommended choice for anyone seeking a veterinary practice that truly cares about their "fur babies."

ABC Veterinary Hospital Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Honestly I see a lot of bad review. Yes I will admit the prices are insane but the Dr. has always been super friendly. He listens to my worries, is extremely respectful, has taken care of my animals (2 cats 2 dogs) for over 10 years now. When my cat got really hurt I took her to an emergency vet where they botched her wound with bullshit stitches and gauze. Two weeks later her surgery site burst open with an abscess from infection due to the bad emergency vet surgery. Took her straight to ABC and he fixed her up right as new. My other dog has had so many health issues and he’s so sweet and gentle with her when examining her. Whenever I have an emergency he always makes time to fit me in. When I had to put my cats down he was very kind to me while I cried like a baby (I’m 26) and even gave me special urns for my cats ashes. Prices might run a bit high but I’m proud and very happy to call him my vet. He’s a great Vet. All my pets have loved him (till it comes to getting shots lol) when meeting him he shook my hand asked for my name told me his. Over all very respectful. Very clear on instructions when getting medications for pets or explaining health issues/injury care. I will continue to take my little fur babies here. Mira (my dog) and my two cats Cheeto and Tiger(both past) were well respected and treated with the utmost care. He doesn’t cut corners with treatments or care like I’ve had with other vets. I fully recommend going here.
July 13 · Female HeisenbergMy fur baby was REALLY sick and I took her to abc vet hospital in Concord and the woman at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating and the doctor was very knowledgeable and friendly and quick. It was an overall great experience and the office was clean and pet friendly and I was in and out in just about 20 minutes. Definitely recommend to other people who love their pets as much as I love my fur baby!!!
August 05 · Rena FrantzDr. Gary Kahlon and his staff at ABC Veterinary Hospital are wonderful. We take our golden retriever and 2 cats for all our veterinary needs - both standard checkups and injuries that require surgery. They are quick to respond to voice messages and emails and when needed, we often get same or next day appointments. They are compassionate and gentle with our pets.
November 24 · Molly De La RosaI took my 22 year old cat to A.B.C vet. This will be the second time ive had to do this to my pets my first cat was put down bye r house call vet. Hes passed thats why we seeked out another vet any way r old vet don asked me if i would like him to give my cat a mild shot before he gave the kill shot yes please i watched my baby fall a deep sleep . The shot was clear fluid. So was the kill shot. My baby had not jump up cry twitch nothing he was at peace nothing but silence now at abc first shot green fluid my cat reacted let out a high pitched cry. The the vet said i had to stay out for the sencond shot. After 5 mins he carried my baby handed him to me he had a look as if he was screaming something not wright ill never take any of my pets there again.
January 06 · Thomas BrookeABC was billed as a low cost vet with no cost for initial visit. They charged 75.00 for initial visit without telling us before or at the time of the appointment. The cat had already been seen when they presented this bill so no opportunity to cancel. The cat had a leg fracture but they did not even provide a basic wrap to help protect it until we could explore other options. Basically, they spent 5 minutes with the cat and took his temperature. When they found out we didn’t have the 700.00 for an exray, we were just sent away. Very disappointed in the handling of this situation. The stray that this low income family tried to help and take in, may have to be surrendered to get medical help.
