West Side Animal Hospital Reviews
I took my kitten in to be neutered June 26 on a Thursday. Keep in mind. I have been with this vet for 10 years and have been highly satisfied up until lately when I had picked my kitten up. They had told me that they had given him an injection without my permission as well as a wellness check charge, even though he had a well exam three months prior When I took him home I had noticed that he had had something hanging out of him on the neuter site when I had contacted the vet they denied and said we send our animals home in pristine condition and told me it was inflammation. They also told me that his breathing issue was his adnoids they would not even see him to give me peace of mind and instead just wanted to play denial. I had to take him to the emergency vet Saturday, June 28 which was almost the same price as the neuter just to correct their mistakes and they confirmed that West side left my cats spermicidal cord too long so that way it could not properly retract and die off thankfully it was not infected due to their mistake. The emergency vet also told me that his breathing was an upper respiratory infection, which was misdiagnosed by Westside animal Hospital, as well as that it is frowned upon to give injections without knowing the underlying cause I am very dissatisfied and will not be returning.

Jun 23, 2025 · John Frazier** it’s long but worth the read- I promise. If I could give negative 10 stars I would.I hope everyone filters out the 1 star reviews reads them and Westside's snarky responses because that right there should be enough to motivate you to look elsewhere for your veterinary needs. But if you need more motivation I will gladly provide you with more.I have taken my dog to Westside her WHOLE life- since the day I rescued her (she was less than a year old when I rescued her- she is 9 years old now). She has been so unproblematic and healthy. All she has needed up until about 8 months ago were her routine vaccines/annual exam and heartworm meds. In November of 2024 she broke out in rashy hives. I took her to Westside. They "examined" her gave her an antibiotic and an allergy med and sent me on my way. The rash cleared up while she was on these meds but came right back once finished. Back to the vet we go. I am asking 1000 questions, what it could be, what I can do, what can I change so on so forth. No one at westside was any help. They just shrugged at me and said we will never know what she is allergic to. I asked what further tests can be done? can we take a sample, a culture - ANYTHING to possibly lead us to a solution. Remember- my dog has been totally healthy with ZERO issues up until this point. They tell me nope- there's nothing else I can do. Westside advised me that my next move would have to be to take her to a veterinary dermatologist (I didn't even know that was a thing). Their ONLY solution was that I needed to keep her on the allergy med that will cost $200 a month for the rest of her life. Anything else I asked or suggested was ignored/dismissed. So I spent the next 6 months (bringing us to now) researching remedies for her skin issues- vitamins, fish oils, changed her food, constant baths, supplements- name it I tried it. All while my dog is miserable. So finally I take her to a new vet to get a 2nd opinion. This new vet proceeded to LISTEN to me when I was talking, did an ACTUAL full exam on my fur-baby. Also- pretty important addition to the exam- they did a culture of her skin in the spots that were clearly not okay. They did all of the things that Westside told me was not an option GO FIGURE.Spoiler alert it was not just some mysterious allergic reaction- she has a staph infection and yeast infection. So Westside's joke of a practice's solution to a problem that they CLEARLY cannot identify or test for is to just push you out the door and tell you to spend hundreds of dollars on unnecessary medication.Bonus detail - in my research to help my dog I also learn that it is not safe or recommended to give ANY vaccines while your dog is actively taking Zenrelia (the allergy med) because it can cause a fatal vaccine-induced disease and/or inadequate immune responses to any vaccine including rabies. Dogs should be vaccinated at least 28 days to 3 months before starting Zenrelia and should not receive any vaccines for at least 28 days after stopping the medication.... Westside gave my dog vaccines while actively taking this med.Do your research people. At this point I feel terrible that I waited as long as I did to take her to a new vet. Thinking I was trying to do anything I could to make her feel better. Any client/patient there is just another number and only gives you the "solutions" that will bring in money but won't actually help your pet.
Jun 27, 2025 · Randi MillerMy mother stopped going here after 43 years bc his wife - the receptionist - talks down to people and makes one feel unimportant. She wanted to talk to the Dr and was told, "He's not coming back in here again." It was a follow up question for him. He never even knew that she had another question bc the wife wouldn't let her ask it. She didn't offer to ask it for her either. She has a condescending tone with older people. She ruins the face of the business.
